you could have found out if you weren't such a stupid individual. extremist jews in the synagogue wanted to expand. they tried for years to get permission to expand from the government and were denied. those extremists started building tunnels to the surrounding buildings that were owned by the same synagogue without permission. an anonymous tip was given that the tunnels existed in late december, police arrived and found them, issued an order to vacate, and an order that the tunnels be filled as they had no support structures and endangered the buildings above them. on the day that the tunnels were to be filled, Jan 8th, this extremist group protested and it evolved into a riot. Police arrived, arrested at least 9 people and cleared the area. the destruction of the tunnel was delayed by two days pending an investigation. there was no evidence of other criminal activity in the tunnel, but a dozen people are pending their criminal trials now.
Firstly, this was NOT a handful of teenagers! Downplaying it isnt going to work when the video footage shows at minimum a dozen men wreaking havoc and acting like thugs.

I think you are greatly over estimating both the skill and time needed to dig a tunnel. A lady just got busted and shut down for digging a tunnel under her house for tiktok just the other day and she was digging through solid rock, by herself. Doing it in the fill dirt just under the roads in NYC would be trivial with that many men. Even cost wise it wouldn't be bad.

There is a tunnel beneath the synagogue that was possibly used for child trafficking. Body fluids including bloody towels and a toddler mattress were found, along with a high chair. As I understand it, the young men not moving want an investigation and the person who owns the tunnel wants it filled with cement as soon as possible, leading to a loss of evidence. They are arresting the wrong people. The people involved with the tunnel want no investigation and complete removal of evidence.

1. They have 24 hours access to this location, it never closes.
2. They have had 24 hours police protection outside of this building since Bloomberg was the Mayor.
