I think a large part of what makes us able to be genuine to all sides of ourselves is the old British gentleman/gangsters who were always talking about a higher class of living, where knowledge of self seemed to be the true mentality of a man and having the liberty to be a guy from the trenches eating properly around the high class old money types, to get to a point where education wasn't about survival but living. In America you seem to judge on appearance and fashion a lot more, to the point where it defines someone's character and you can't shift that perception.
@@ryanhunter5594 In the UK most of us go to school in uniforms, in America they wear their own clothes for the most part, while American kids are judged on the merit of how they dress we are judging each other on our actual character, we learn that shit can sparkle and the nerd has hands. It's a completely different culture, a smaller island that mixes all walks of life not just segregated races that define you into a suburban environment or the projects
I think over here in the UK a lot of rappers respect the OGs in America who started all this, so we always love boom bap, G funk shit... but back in the day, jungle, garage, grime, hip hop, pop dominating and maybe it's allowed us to be roadmen then have the mandem loving bare Adele tunes hahah
as someone from the UK i reckon the reason we can talk about stuff like this to one another was a few years back there was a big push for 'be in your mate's corner' which instead of saying 'hey just be open about your feelings' which probably wouldn't of worked they focused on being there for your boys which plays on the fact in the uk loyalty is one of the most important attributes, you have your boys back no matter what and he has yours. On top of that all the old timey gangsters in the UK were 'gentleman' gangsters so they weren't incharge because they were the toughest or most ruthless they were in charge because they had mastered themselves and you couldn't get a one up on them because they already owned and compensated for whatever their natural weaknesses were be it a short temper or excessive pride they were purely business and that business mindset is still lingering which is why the best uk rappers talk about making money and use lyricism over just talking about how they are in a tough gang and have killed people.
u see how he put the 'trending uk rap and drill' playlist at the end, hes really tryna show the world uk drill, and how good it is, even if the playlist contains people that he dont rock with, cench a real one for that icl
As an English boy my self, we talk this but we don't cry. Bro u ever hear that saying British stiff upper lip. We speak our mind and then hold back the reaction. Thats why British rap can talk that emotion, but we go home and we cold.
His little laugh reminds me so much of Chips cheeky giggle. His artistry and marketing are on point Everytime. Keep keeping it real CC Much love and Respect from The UK
US rappers worry more about their image or status whereas it seems UK rappers (especially the trinity...Dave, Fredo, Central)are just honest with it...not afraid to show vulnerability and that's what makes them so dope
Listen to the hundreds of unreleased and old juice wrld songs...I'm shocked every time how versatile his songs are ...he put his true emotions into every word , talked about everything going on in his life good and bad Rip the goat 🕊️
You hit the nail on the head bro. The amount of US reactions who just call Central Cee a 'Simp' for this, when I can guarantee the majority of people can relate to the message of being young, in love and losing your mind when it ends poorly. I feel the major difference is US rap fronts too much of an image, they lose their relatability and majority pretend to be something their not.
I think the problem with American media in general is the lack of nuance. When you look at music, movies, news even, people don't care about context or about really thinking deep about things. They just want the answer or the feeling quickly and effectively. People start to lose the idea of believing in two contradicting things at once because they don't care about the nuance (such as a rapper who is a hard drill artist being able to make truly emotional songs). It's really quite sad. I lived in the middle east for most of my life and moving to north america has been pretty jarring in that sense.
Congrats on the IG s/o from Cench Scru🥳🍾 I grew up on American rap & love drill but my most played this year was Fredo, Dave & Cench!! Plz dive into more UK drill next year 🤟🏼
I love musicians who engage in other Genres, snoop dogg honestly being a huge one. He’ll have West coast G music, then hop on a Katy perry track and kill it. Then he’ll roll up to everlast and willie nelson and create a country banger! I saw Charley Crockett post a country music festival line up, and within all these super hick artists, Snoop Dogg was a headliner in it. I love it man. Open your self up to other avenues. And Cench was spitting some hard truth
As some background in the UK before grime we would mostly listen to hip-hop and even the early grime would have clear hip-hop influence. Grime was fully on the map when Skepta & Jme - That's Not Me was released it was a pivotal moment, the whole song being about authenticity and remaining true to your roots. The UK realised they needed to own their music. Artists began to venture into other music as they realised there was no confines and we could use influences but still do it autenthicly our own way. So artists have largely been able to make a wide array of music without much question but you obviously have certain people who stick to their genre.
I never heard of CEE, but from what I'm hearing I do like it. I do recall hearing you say something along the lines of: "We can't have a song like this and hard shit" (Forgive me if im wrong or misunderstand), but there is an Artist: Jidenna (The Classic Man guy). I think you'd enjoy Bambi by Jidenna.
For y all wondering Young Dro is an Atlanta icon once upon a time, I still listen to his shit, me being from Atl. The song Scru rapped was Rubberband banks.
Cee is one of the best man no cap, I understand what you saying Scru. There only one that comes to mind which is Drake thats doing this, I still bump Sooner than Later from Drake still to this day because how real that shit is. I feel like rappers in the US think men can't express their feelings on a track like this, because they don't want people to think they a B****, But little do they know these be the hardest songs to rock to when you in this type of a situation.
You was talking about American rappers who don't do emotional music like this at mainstream, and I'm probably not the first person to mention it, but have you tried anything from NF? His music can be pretty deep, I don't know if it's your kind of stuff, but, just a thought! Much respect Scru, great reaction
Listen I’m glad UK/London rap is finely getting the attention it deserves but it didn’t begin with Cee nor will it end with him, there are plenty of SICK rappers in the UK. Maybe Cee is the breakthrough artist….can’t deny his talent.
Listen to more dbe pls, dbe proud is a very heart left song similar to how this is, others are outside, Patek pain, Bando baby diary’s, and if I ruled the world. I know the d block Europe reactions don’t get to many views but I beg u still do them🙌❤️
Petition to put rustage and dps tracks on the second channel too? I feel like scrus missing alot of fire tracks and if it's on the second chanel he might be to it sooner? Make all nerdcore reactions into the second channel imo
Definitely agree with the masculinity comment Americans say “pause” after every line these days like people don’t know exactly what you meant if you have to explain your character constantly then people around you don’t know you it’s crazy tbh. 🤷🏾♂️
