I was here last December. The town is really just a small coastal village with a great beach and some cafes. Surprisingly, unless there is a festival or market on, good Punjabi food is hard to find. There is a small restaurant/ cafe, but I was underwhelmed I must admit. A local sikh guy said that the Punjabi restaurant in nearby Coffs Harbour is much better- I can only assume that he was being genuine, not spruiking.

The First Sikh Gurdwara (Temple) Hastings Street, Woolgoolga NSW Australia was built with collective generosity of the following men and their families.
Mr Mangha S Atwal was kind enough to allow the Local Sikh community to acquire the very valuable land which he could have easily kept himself, where the First Sikh Gurdwara now stands. Mr Mangha S Atwal put the interest of the Sikh Community above himself, for which he will always be remembered.
Other elders who contributed to the build by mortgaging their personal assets for bank loan and donating funds are as follows….
Mr Piara S Ratandia, Mr William S Malhi, Mrs Jagir S Sodhi, Mr Gurbakhsh S Atwal, Mr Naranjin S More, Mr James Guljara S Malhi.
Thus the First Sikh Gurdwara (Temple) was built by the Sikh Community not by any one individual or family, it was a collective effort by above mentioned Sardars and their families. If anyone said otherwise they are not being truthful and are devaluing the sacrifices made by seven families.
