Richard, I've been following your channel for at least half-dozen years. THIS is definitely the pinnacle of the channel. Now all you need to do is install a few windows, fill-in the nail holes, and paint. Great job my friend! Hoo Rah!
Congratulations 🎉 so happy to see this completed and know that your marriage was able to withstand this very long makeover. JK🤣. It s so beautiful and I am happy to have been along for the journey. Your work is stunning.
Beautiful craftsmanship, Rich! 100 years from now (or sooner), people will be saying “Who did this? Wow! What beautiful craftsmanship!” Kind of like: “Who was that masked man?”
I've been in houses from 50k to 6.7m and i've never seen a fireplace this nice. Plenty of people who want to throw tacky amount of marble. This is elevated and was enjoyable to watch.
Got to hand it to you, Richard, that's the coolest fireplace mantle I've ever seen! I'm an architecture buff and I've been to Greece and stood in front of the Parthenon and many other structures. You have faithfully re-created the architecture it in your living room. I'm sure you're proud of this one, as well you should be! Congratulations! Thanks also for the explanations along the way during the build.
I have followed along for this entire build. You Richard are an incredible craftsman. A true inspiration to the craft that many have left behind. Thank you for sharing this project with us. Nothing is more satisfying than sitting in your chair with a cold one saying to yourself "I did that"
Absolutely awesome, Richard! I've been watching you for years and appreciate the knowledge you share and have enjoyed watching your journey and how much you have learned. Hats off, you should be very proud that is absolutely beautiful.
Unbelievable work. i am sad to see it almost done. finishing this off with the paint is the next thing i am looking forward to seeing. keep up the good work.
Congrats! Wow it's been such a journey and I followed along with you. Now that's it done..I just want to stand and stare at it..follow the lines and intersections. Beautiful work!
Wow man! The design stages that you mentioned in my mind is what makes you the carpenter that you are! Just imagine the original craftsman 100’s of years ago! They did the same thing! Congrats and godbless you and your family!
I’ve watched you for years and learned so much. That mantle is incredible. You’ve worked for many years to perfect your profession, and it shows congrats!
I have been following since day one. Absolutely stunning I could look at that beauty for literally days. I couldn't have that in my house I would just sit there. Such amazing work Richard. I just went out on my own a year ago and you give me so much inspiration. There is magnificent things that can be created. Thank for for everything you do.
This is just an incredible piece of craftsmanship. I’m in awe of the level of skill you’ve developed and used in this project. Yours is among the very best channels on this platform. Congrats, dude!
Well done! I wish you would show it lit up at night. I’m really curious what the shadow details look like in the dark with your lamps glowing across it. Also, makes me wish you tastefully added some led lights to accentuate all the amazing dimensions and shadows. 👏
Richard, I’ve been following your carpentry journey for a long time. This is by far the greatest carpentry project I have seen anyone document. Keep up the passion for craft!
Man I have been following you for a while it just seems like your work is just getting better and better and better thank you for taking the time to share it!! It looks perfect
No need to worry about talking to much about it or moving on, we hear your enthusiasm and know you put your heart into it. Everything looks spectacular! Please remember to show us after it’s painted as well. You really did a great job with this and rightfully so should be proud.
Bro so teach me something. Is that just primed?! It looks nearly finished minus some nail holes. Did you not caulk it? Everything just fits that tight? Truly inspirational man. Words can not explain how impressed I am.
you just cannot get too mny compliments for this. Great Job!!!!!! From one Texas to another. You are getting better all the time. Kepp up the great stories and videosa.
Richard I am in awe of what you did to that bare wall. My words don’t do it anywhere near the justice it merits. It is breathtaking to me. Take a bow sir!!! You did it!!!
That is beautiful, well done 👍🏻 Working on you own home is a nightmare usually, especially wife watching etc. jobs usually half assed or go wrong. Glad it worked out and can be enjoyed for generations
Awesome trim carpentry at its best. What a wonderful creative mind you have and the skills to bring it to fruition! Very envious of your wife that she married such a talented guy, who always wants to push his limits. Keep videos coming and more often, please.
I've been watching you "level up" sotospeak for years and it's been very cool. I wonder if this journey will eventually take you to stain-grade solid wood trim carpentry?
That is an amazing piece of craftsmanship. The eye doesn't get drawn to any one element of the build. Your eyes just take in the whole thing. Then, when you really start to look at the details of it. The shadow lines, the precise corners, the depth of the build up. This is going to be very hard to beat as far as both personal and professional achievement. Great job!
Top notch! It's great that you have an outlet creating something for posterity. Wondering if it's a personal record with the number of individual pieces flitted in a project of that size.
I have very little interest in trim carpentry but I keep watching every video you make. I think it is your dedication and pride for your craft that makes it interesting to watch.
I am of Greek heritage with a skill of hand making very exclusive high end jewellery, your level of craftsmanship is to be admired and respected, amazing skills and thank you for showing the world that you can bring back classic styles in a modern world and when you put passion into your level of execution you can achieve a high level of finish. Please show us more.
beautiful masterpiece. absolutely love it... you gotta get some of those columns! ~if you know the reference... the snl 'columns' sketch. plus those other similar sketches, mike's emporium(s). fountains, marbleorium, etc. its lovely
Richard, what a pleasure watching your passion, and thoughts behind all the details, and of course the craftsmanship to bring it together so beautifully. Thank you for taking us all along on your journey.
After a crazy busy and stressful day at my company, there is nothing better than an Old Fashioned and DFW Crown. Thank you Richard, love the mantle, and always a thumbs up.
This is a credit to you Richard, following along was an extremely pleasurable experience.. You should be so proud of yourself and your achievement in this project, I absolutely love every inch of the design you decided on, Inspiring is definitely a word i would use when i look at it and because I’ve followed your work for years now i can see the finished product like when its filled sanded and sprayed.. keep up the excellent work and the Amazing content.. once again, 👏👏 well done…
Well done Rickard. I've been looking for to the next instalment. It looks great and your instruction was very helpful. I now feel educated enough to start planning this for my home.
This project and the video format are perfect. It’s almost like watching New Yankee Workshop. You covered everything in enough detail to give me the confidence to attempt this project without going too deep. The collaboration with Brent Hull has really lifted your channel to the next level. I would love to see more video just like this. Brent’s “how to” videos always leave me wanting more, but his discussion videos are detail overload. The two of you make a great team and compliment each other very well.
Mate that looks sick, from research, sketches, set out, sourcing the material, install and finally standing back and looking at it come together…wow 👌🏻👍
On a piece like this, you should get a small polished brass plaque abs install it out of the way, on the baseboard. That plaque should have something along the lines of 'designed and built by Richard circa 2024' with your company info. A living business card if you will. What would something like this ballpark for if a customer wanted something similar? l looks fantastic and I can't wait to see the finished windows.
Outstanding craftsmanship Richard I have followed you now for a number of years watched every video and most of them have left me bewildered by the standard of your craftsmanship but this latest series of videos is by far superior than anything you’ve done before absolutely loved every minute Richard. Well done a true craftsman.😊😊😊😊
The level of skill in that is going to go over most people’s heads. As an experienced finish carpenter I take my hat off to you. Bravo sir that’s Infuckingcredible!!! And to think people did this without power tools 🤯 🤯
Worth the wait.. started thinking I was never going to see the end after the little gap there. Did you end up recording the painting process of the ceiling?
Richard you never cease to amaze me. You are not only an craftsman and an artist but most importantly a teacher! I have learned so much from you through the years. You have brought up my level of craftsmanship. I thank you for that. Godspeed to continued success.
I have been following along with the channel and the series for maybe 3-4 years and I am so impressed with the beauty of this stuff. Through the screen alone that mantle looks meticulously stunning. To accomplish that in video format is something special. Thank you for doing what you do. This work is art on the highest levels

That would be 6 years.
I see and hear 'Brent Hull' language- you would be a good craftsman from 1870. Beautiful work. Few can build classically.@@FinishCarpentryTV
Beautiful craftsmanship, Rich! 100 years from now (or sooner), people will be saying “Who did this? Wow! What beautiful craftsmanship!” Kind of like: “Who was that masked man?”
Amazing! You're the only person on TH-cam who is doing trim on this level. What a great series!
That is definitely a top 0.0001% mantle, especially for the DFW area. A masterpiece!! Must be making Brent proud to work with you!
Richard isn't just any old trim carpenter, he's an artist.
I've been in houses from 50k to 6.7m and i've never seen a fireplace this nice. Plenty of people who want to throw tacky amount of marble. This is elevated and was enjoyable to watch.

•Great explanation of the split fillet 👍
Very nice Richard!! You are rightfully proud.

It's beautiful dude. Your facial expressions tell the story. Congrats!
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
True craftsmanship. Congrats on your stunning project.
Bro so teach me something. Is that just primed?! It looks nearly finished minus some nail holes. Did you not caulk it? Everything just fits that tight?
Truly inspirational man. Words can not explain how impressed I am.
I have been priming and filling as I go to get it camera ready! Need to fill nail holes now!
@@FinishCarpentryTV yeah I noticed you’d prime them after cutting. Looks so dang good man. Hope I can be good as you some day

Excellent work. I watched every episode for this build.
It’s wild to me how tight all your joints are even before painting or caulking.
Beautiful work! I think my favorite are the triglyphs with the shadow behind it! Such amazing details all around!!
