  • Hello Bonsai Bar friends!
In this video, we will show and describe a couple ways to water your workshop trees and other small bonsai.
Watering is the hardest thing to learn about bonsai. Here, we talk about things to look for when watering and explore a couple ways to make it happen!
When watering your tree, you can either submerge the tree in a bowl of water for 3-5 minutes every 2-3 days or water from above with a gentle shower evenly across the soil surface until water pours from the drainage holes on the bottom of the pot.
When you water, water thoroughly with cool water, allow to drain, and replace the tree in its spot of honor.
Be careful with the submersion method as well. If you ware watering multiple trees, it is possible to spread pests and diseases from one to the next. It is always good practice to closely inspect each tree before watering this way.

I bought this plant from a farmers market and I love the little pot it’s in, but it doesn’t have any drainage holes! Do I need to repot in something different?

Absolutely, your pot should have several holes, the more the better.
