    If you’re thinking of using this video and pattern just do it! It’s Friday evening 5pm. Im leaving in 1.5 days for the holidays with family. Between my husband (ironing/pressing) and I (sewing) we busted out 6 adult aprons and I modified 2 child aprons in 5 hours. This tutorial is awesome! So easy and the aprons look amazing! Thank you!

    I know what I am making today. I have been trying to figure out what else to get my grandma for Christmas. I just came back from Joanns and found the cutest gingerbread cookie fabric and didn't know what I was going to make with it. I do now. I had my friend put a design on some soup mugs for her and I filled I got a basket and filled it with all these different soups and little snack. It looked incomplete this will be perfect to finish it off. You have perfect timing when you release you videos. Thanks for saving me the stress from having to go wonder around the store trying to figure out what else to get her

    What a wonderful tutorial! And many thanks for the free pattern. I love sewing, but I REALLY love baking, and my trusty old apron is just about ready for retirement. Going to grab a pretty piece of canvas and some nice cotton for the pocket, and I think this will be my first project of 2024! Wow, I just found your channel when I did a search for aprons. I subscribed!! You made me feel I could do this, even as a beginner. I really wanted a reversible apron so I was hoping to sew two fabrics right sides together but I have myself a little confused as to how to do the straps so they are hidden, and the best way to do the pockets (on each side). Oh, and I paused this video to check out your oven mitt tutorial because I’ve made about a half dozen oven mitts and I have disliked them all! I thought I had to be the only one that was bothered by the crinkling!!! GAH! I had made potholders with that “ironing board” fabric but never thought of it for the mitts! I like my linings sewn in like you do as well, but bias tape scares me a little. All that said, You have me enthused to give these projects a try! OHHHH…. I am just about 5’2, how can I adjust where the waist straps go so they aren’t sitting at my hips, and would I just take a few inches off the pattern to make it not so long on me? Thanks for your help. I have wasted so much fabric trying to figure it out when theres no one to ask. Appreciate!!

    • @MADEEveryday
      @MADEEveryday  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hahaha. This is such a great comment! Thanks for sharing! Yes, you can adjust where the side strings go. Since you sew those on last, you could try the apron on, and figure out where you want them to hit, right at your waist. I like to "fold" my apron up a little bit, I just find it comfortable (you can see me do this in the opener or closer of the video). So I don't mind as much where the ties are, but those can DEFINITELY be adjusted.
      As for making it double sided, yes! You can do that! You would cut out two aprons, sew the pocket to each one (like you're making two separate aprons. And then it's real easy!....Lay the first apron on your table, with the right side of the fabric facing up. Pin the neck band, and side strings in place where you want them, with all the stings facing IN toward the apron fabric (or down at the neck area,). Basically you're sewing it like I sewed the neck facing in the video, but instead of a little rectangle of fabric for the facing, you're sewing an entire other apron as the :facing". Once you have those ties/neckband in place, place the other apron on top, with the right side of the fabric facing down. You basically have an apron sandwich, with the right sides of the aprons facing each other, and the strings sandwiched inside. Pin all the way around. (remove the pins where you pinned the side strings, etc in place, and reppin them through the 3 layers. Then, like sewing a pillow, you'll start somewhere at the bottom of the apron, and sew all the way around the perimeter, leaving about a 4 inch opening at the bottom of the apron. When you're done, pull the whole thing right side out. Press it well with an iron, and sew the bottom closed, by sewing a hem stitch! You can sew a second hem line about 1.5 inches up, for aesthetic. There you go!!
      Really easy and will make more sense as you go.
      I hope that helps!!
      Thanks for watching :) - Dana

      Probably a 1/2 yard of fabric for the waist ties. If you look on the pattern, you need 3 strips 2 1/2 inches wide x WOF (Width of the fabric---selvage to selvage)....so I think 1/4 yard would be enough?

    What fabric is best for aprons?

    • @MADEEveryday
      @MADEEveryday  ปีที่แล้ว

      Cotton fabric is really great...especially since there are so many cute designs out there. But you could also use linen, or linen blends (that would look really pretty). Just think of an apron you would purchase in the store, and think of what types of fabric you've seen them in. Typically cotton. Have fun with it! - Dana

    I am glad I found you. Easy to watch. But as a Hard if Hearing person, your background is very distracting while “watching/listening” to you.

    I do love everything you create but I'm baffled as to why can't you just give the measurements of the apron? I don't have a printer.

    • @MADEEveryday
      @MADEEveryday  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi sorry about that. I'm not opposed to sharing measurements, but the arm area has curves, so that's why a pattern piece is better for this, and that's why I had listed out measured odetails. But I went and measured for you.
      Most of this info was also in the video description text:
      Length of apron from top to bottom: 34 inches
      Width from side to side: 28 inches
      Top of apron width: 11.5 inches
      Facing piece: 11.5 x 3.5 inches
      Pocket: 15 x 9 inches
      For the two waist ties and necktie:
      Cut (3) strips 2.5 inches x WOF (appx 42 inches), then Subcut (2) of the strips to 2.5 x 40 inches, and
      Subcut (1) strip to 2.5 x 22 inches
      This info is also on the pattern, if you download the file and look at the printing instructions on the pattern pieces (even if you don't print them).

      @@MADEEveryday Well that is so kind of you to explain this! I appreciate it so much. I had pulled from two different patterns and figured it out that way. I have made two since yesterday and I will keep going. I plan on giving them away for gifts. Thanks so much, your tutorials are so excellent and easy to follow!
