    I have Icedrive cloud pro I pay $5 a month when I first downloaded the app it gave me 20 gb storage free but now they only give you 10 gb free I like it because it auto organizes all your data files from every device gives you options what you want uploaded and what folders you want encrypted etc etc so far I have no problems

    Does Icedrive also have no limitation on file size?
    Also, is there any policy for what happens if somehow these servers shut down temporarily or permanently. Basically I'm asking if anyone has gone through their (both pCloud & Icedrive's) t&c.

    Yeah, lifetime. Until the cloud gets "bankrupt" and just vanishes with your money and all your data. Now deal with that.

      @@DavidB1124 This is a problem with any cloud storage really.
      With lifetime licences involved or not.
      A lifetime licence is not a gift to you that makes the company lose money.
      It is an alternative to VC funding that allows for the current owners of the licensing company to retain control instead of hading it over to venture capital.
      Lifetime will not be given to everyone. It will be given to some to get a lot of money in one go without losing control of the company.
      So, lifetime licences are arguably either neutral or they actually increase the chances that the company survives in the long run.
      I hope this makes sense to you and makes things a bit clearer.

      @@larryFWD that is a messenger. When you sign up, navigate to the “Saved Messages” section, which is basically messaging yourself. Telegram promises that all uploaded files are there to stay forever (as the messenger is cloud-based, not just the Saved Messages, but any chat and channel is eligible for the unlimited storage, expect for the Secret Chats). And no, it is not considered to be abuse, that is an official feature they promote themselves.

    • @R1ch4rd
      @R1ch4rd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@larryFWD Sure, the files are not end-to-end encrypted, and theoretically Telegram can see all the uploaded content, but nobody restricts you to manually encrypt them before uploading. The only limit as the folk above said is 2GB maximum size per each single file. 7Zip can conveniently and automatically split and encrypt the files simultaneously. 7zip is free and open source

      @Divya Seth 256-bit AES encryption is included for all users. pCloud charges for "extra" layer of encryption i.e., pCloud Crypto to encrypt client-side files which is not required by every user. You can also try it free of charge for 14 days to check its efficiency before getting it.

    pcloud sucks I just canceled my account they put a file size cap on mine. I signed up for business pro I thought I was getting unlimited storage they only gave me only 6tb and as a video editor that is not enough storage space. They suck. Way too expensive for the bullshit.

    Mega cloud storage is best,,,,
    Pcloud and icedrive are worst app ( no zero knowledge encryption and encryption for normal drive,, if you put file in encypted drive, then you can't share and you can't view ' means it's hard to find any specific photo' so encypted folder is useless)

    • @TheCyberLab
      @TheCyberLab  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Pradeep Kumar Of course you can view the files if you remember the encryption key. However, you cannot share files from the encrypted folder because of security reasons. WIth pCloud Business you can. You'll also be able to share encrypted files with Icedrive in the future using a feature called "Crypto Boxes". Not at the moment tho.

      @@TheCyberLab ok... but that's not so true actually. using cloud storage/backup/sync solutions is more than storing your baby photos somewhere. although it's a legitimate use case. a good portion of people that are actually interested in a lifetime cloud storage option might be techie power users, and might use linux as well. not all cloud storage providers have a native linux app, nor they care about it, while maintaining the premium company facade. you often need paid third party solutions to use Google drive or Onedrive for example. this can be a huge point for someone. also... cloud storage is tightly couppled with security and privacy. so... linux. i mean, your channel is called The Cyber Lab... no? nothing? oh, well... i apologize for being a bit harsh, but please don't skip stuff when doing reviews, especially when it's right in front of you.

    This lifetime deal concept always sounds good until these shitty little foreign companies go belly up and you're out of luck. Most of these companies know they won't be around for the long haul so they want people to pay many years in advance. About 95% of these cloud companies all have one thing in common and that is terrible and I will repeat terrible tech support with response times several days later with a quick answer from some idiot that was flipping hamburgers three months ago that does not help you a bit. Upload times are usually slow because their servers are literally thousands of miles away and pCloud and Icedrive are definitely two of these companies along with others like Mega and Tresorit. This is the typical junk paid advertising you normally see on TH-cam. 😯😯😯
