Ah, the PlayStation Era. When game composers had just enough to work with to create memorable melodic masterpieces, but not so much that they got lost in forgettable orchestral arrangements.
I grew up with the Playstation One. I love everything about it, especially the soundtracks. I've never even heard of these games before, but these soundtracks you've shared are... nothing more than masterpieces. I can't thank you enough for sharing them. On a side note, the games I own from this list: Metal Gear Solid Die Hard Trilogy Silent Hill Alien Trilogy Tomb Raider
The original PlayStation simply had the best OSTs of any console. So many amazing compositions in so many different genres. You get a kickass, memorable OST anywhere you look: RPG, Horror, Action, racing, air combat, stealth and so on. Long live PlayStation!.

How to recognize if ps1 running midi at the time: Take out the disc, if the music is still running, that's a midi. But ps1's midi is different format and a little more weighty.

Hi Scott, i'm in the middle of building a playlist / compilation. I would like to create a journey through growing up as a 90s gamer. I want to add lot's of different songs from different games. Currently i'm just starting out, i'm, gonna make a short and sharp one as a tester, then go onto, RPG focused ones, maybe Snes focused, or newer ones. I don't know, definitely would want a tear jerker and sad one as I'm currently just grabbing 1 song from most games, but I only want to do about 20 games for starters, and picking just 20 games and 1 song from each game is a nightmare, but I have to start somewhere. You seem like you know your stuff, so be happy to welcome any advice from you about what tracks I could add :) thanks!

I'm a massive fan of Syphon Filter, Resi, Silent Hill and Medal of Honor franchise and nice video but I really missed *Tenchu* And u shoulda put tracks from Resi 3 too.
Kids today don't know how hard old shooter games were. You had a life bar and had to make it through some tough parts without a health pack handy. Every shooter today is just hide and heal automatically.
Reading this comment made me smile. I have a little girl who is crazy about VGs, particularly JRPGs, thanks to my influence. She's not at all into racing and football games like her dad. I can imagine her going around saying yeah I remember mom playing this. P.S. RE2's Secure Place is a classic and will always be remembered.
It's sad, yet again Tenchu: Stealth Assassins is overlooked. One of the greatest games, with one of the greatest soundtracks every put to a video game.
Good job, especially on the choice of X Vs Zero from MMX5, and of course Into the Wilderness from Wild Arms. Oh, and of course representing old school survival horror with RE2 and Parasite Eve, I DEFINITELY approve. I plan to share the knowledge of these great old games with my children and with theirs. I must confess, I personally would have chosen Liberi Fatalis or The Extreme for FFVIII instead of Man with the Machine Gun. Don't get me wrong, I liked Laguna, but I didn't care much for his battle theme. Also, great choice for Legend of Dragoon. I always liked Dart as a character, and his theme just added to his character so very much, but Boss battle 1 or 3 would have also been good choices for that game. Also, a few additional choices I personally feel deserve to be added to a 50 best: Shudder from Einhander, Far Into the Sky (or The Musashi Legend) from Brave Fencer Musashi, just about any of the pirate battle themes from Megaman Legends, the theme from the battle with Sera on Megaman Legends 2, The Final Battle with Sigma on Megaman X6 (which was supposed to be the last one), The first mission theme on Strider 2, and so many more. PS1 had some GREAT soundtracks, and I feel that 30 is nowhere near enough to accurately describe how much awesome game music there was.
PSX and PS2 best console ever with many of its exclusive game. Nowdays it's easier owning a gaming PC, since many of PS game isnt even console exclusive.

Kids today don't know how hard old shooter games were. You had a life bar and had to make it through some tough parts without a health pack handy. Every shooter today is just hide and heal automatically.

Reading this comment made me smile. I have a little girl who is crazy about VGs, particularly JRPGs, thanks to my influence. She's not at all into racing and football games like her dad. I can imagine her going around saying yeah I remember mom playing this.

C as trilhas sonoras de jogos atuais fossem tão marcantes quanto foram as do PS1 eu não estaria aqui, os anos 90 e 00 foram os melhores nesse quesito.
It's sad, yet again Tenchu: Stealth Assassins is overlooked. One of the greatest games, with one of the greatest soundtracks every put to a video game.
Good job, especially on the choice of X Vs Zero from MMX5, and of course Into the Wilderness from Wild Arms. Oh, and of course representing old school survival horror with RE2 and Parasite Eve, I DEFINITELY approve. I plan to share the knowledge of these great old games with my children and with theirs. I must confess, I personally would have chosen Liberi Fatalis or The Extreme for FFVIII instead of Man with the Machine Gun. Don't get me wrong, I liked Laguna, but I didn't care much for his battle theme. Also, great choice for Legend of Dragoon. I always liked Dart as a character, and his theme just added to his character so very much, but Boss battle 1 or 3 would have also been good choices for that game. Also, a few additional choices I personally feel deserve to be added to a 50 best: Shudder from Einhander, Far Into the Sky (or The Musashi Legend) from Brave Fencer Musashi, just about any of the pirate battle themes from Megaman Legends, the theme from the battle with Sera on Megaman Legends 2, The Final Battle with Sigma on Megaman X6 (which was supposed to be the last one), The first mission theme on Strider 2, and so many more. PS1 had some GREAT soundtracks, and I feel that 30 is nowhere near enough to accurately describe how much awesome game music there was.
PSX and PS2 best console ever with many of its exclusive game. Nowdays it's easier owning a gaming PC, since many of PS game isnt even console exclusive.
