Circle of Spores druid would be another subclass I think you'd be great at doing.

A fun idea for a source for the aberrant mind's power could be the Eldrazi. They could have granted the power to the sorcerer by complete accident, a side-effect of exposure to their presence, and now the sorcerer has to figure out what to do with it.

So happy that I recently discovered DiceTry, and that I can be here, at the start, of the subclass content 🎉

I essentially RP'd one of these but did so by reflavoring an Eloquence Bard.
He was a former cleric (job, not class) but began receiving visions of the great darkness that had destroyed the old world of my DM's campaign. He saw even the gods themselves would be powerless to stop it, just as they were when they ran to this world in ages past. However, when he shared his visions with the others of his order, he was branded a heretic and exiled. So now he walks the desert sands looking for a way to either cut off the darkness at its source or, failing that, do something about these visions so he can live the rest of his days in some semblance of peace before the end comes for them all.
I chose Black Red for him because he was driven by his emotion and willing to do ANYTHING to satiate it, even at the cost of others.

I'm envious of your ability to find such beautiful art that looks so perfect for what you're talking about. Considering the thousands of cards out there and their art, that's not easy.

I’m excited to see your take on the Oath of Conquest Paladin. From my interpretation, Mardu or Esper are the colors that align with the subclass. Mardu for the paladins that focus on glory in battle and subjugation and Esper for paladins that want to establish order.

I just stumbled on this video... Not only it was informative and one of the best tools I've seen to help craft a character's background, but now, let's dive into the rest of the series!!!

Oh man this is so cool, my first character was an Aberrant Mind sorcerer, Haija (it was supposed to be a twist on Hastur but it’s kinda just a gibberish name I thought was cool), and it’s probably one of my favorite subclasses I love how it can keep with the whole X-Men mutants theme of sorcerers but it’s also very eldritch like a warlock (I added warlock to it later cause that’s my favorite class and it lined up with a plot in the campaign). Also psychic powers are just generally really cool so I love these types of classes that Tasha’s added.
I’d say Haija was definitely blue and black, but maybe even green later on just because he was born with his powers because of ceremorphosis shenanigans. But going further into green the “Lore” reason who becomes a warlock too is because he stumbles on a great old one and recognizes it as basically a Psychic God and if there was anyone who’d know more about controlling psionics it would be them. So basically he became a warlock to harness his powers better. He’s definitely a pretty edgy kind of character so I’d say Sultai fits him but I could also say he went from Blue Black to Blue Green

This video is awesome. Do more! I totally get your color choice for abberent sorcerer. That subclass description really gives me Dimir vibes. Yet I think an alternative is colorless. The Eldrazi in MTG are similar to the abberations in DND. Both are eldrich abominations. Dimir fits abominations in DND. Black really fits abominations in World of Warcraft, such as the Old Gods. For MTG, I think colorless would work. Maybe the sorcerer has such an abberent mind, that they broke away from the color pie entirely. They are void of mana. So they manipulate others with psychic power in order to feed on the mana of others. Maybe this sorcerer came from Zendikar, and they got powers from the corruption of the Eldrazi.
I recommend starting out with the basic subclasses of the classes and getting into the weird ones. Abberent sorcerer is a good hook though. When I am getting into DND, I first tried out the evocation wizard. So I vote to cover that. I love magicians. That one is a basic one to get started. I think the best fit is Izzet. The flavor is really similar. Red has fire. Blue has cold. Together these colors have lightning. Those three types show up a lot. Blue is perfect for the wizard class. Wizards are more into studying and books more than any other class. Even sorcerers and monks are not that studious. Red fits evocation from a mechanics perspective. Both of them are really into offence. Evocation spells are really similar to burn spells. Burn spells are in red, and it is emphasized in Izzet. Maybe evocation is good for wizards that are into action, just like red philosophy. Wizards are all over the place. The Players Handbook gives them a ton of subclasses. All the blue pairs can be applied. Abjurations fits Azorius due to its defensive nature. Necromancy fits Dimir due to dealings with death. Transmutation fits Simic since they are about change and evolution.

my character was a human-eating scientist that got killed by an opposing faction and sentenced by the Gods to walk through the limbo for all eternity for his crimes, a mishap of magic allowed him to escape the limbo and possess the skeleton of a young man and now he utilizes the influence of the limbo as his tool of slaughter

  • @WanderingRagabond
    @WanderingRagabond 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

YES! One of the reasons I love this subclass is that its main strengths inherently impose a moral dilemma on your character. Do you violate the sanctity of people's minds and free will? If so, when is it acceptable and why?
Black definitely fits the moral relativism expected from this kind of sorcerer, and blue fits the curiosity and joy of having such a powerful tool to uncover secrets.
I can definitely see someone making a character who tries very hard to use this power ethically if we throw White into the mix. "Only enter someone's mind with permission, except to prevent a greater evil", etc.
Loved this video, please make more like this! 💜

I love this series! Great colour pie application :)
I'm very out of date with the whole D&D class system, but I'd love to see an exploration on shapeshifting-focused druids. Is there a subclass that's all about that? I'd especially keen to hear your thoughts one step away from the green x red grull basics, just like you did here :D

Ahhh reminds me of my Dark neutral good sorcerer with sinister psychic reading and loud inner monologue I use to befriend my worst foes before I forget to forgive them first for existing, secondly they opposed me...I'm trying to find room for myself to improve and share the improving service I provide for free after work hours...

I think that you would be biting off more than you can chew if you were to do every subclass. But if you just did subclasses that would be departures from the main class (e.g. oath breaker palidin, celestial warlock, way of the shadow monk etc) that would be a series worth watching.

Surprised you didn't choose red among the main colors given its association with chaos, madness, and controlling the thoughts/emotions of others temporarily.

Starting a new campaing with a Yuan-ti Aberrant Mind with a Dimir personality and the Faceless background, looking forward to play some kind of anti-hero or 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' type of character to blend well with the possibly not so evil party . Your channel is my biggest inspiration for this character and I hope you can continue this series.
