this one is a real bringback....great kit...I have 2 of the original Marx GT250 1/25 scale slotcars...thanx , great build/review ....maybe raced , in the Pan-America race too
The old tooling isn't your fault, ya gotta work with what ya got, so, an absoulutely beautiful build of a very complex small scale model! Not a fan of European cars, but who doesn't love a 250 Ferrari!?! Timeless style! Have you ever dabbled in the larger scales? 1/16, 1/12, 1/8? I have an F40 model in 1/12 scale that has been in the closet for 15 years because, 3/4 completed, I screwed up the paint on the front hood, got disgusted, and put it up! Now that the smaller scales are beyond my abilities, I'm gonna pull it back out and have another go at it, along with my 1/8 T-bucket (also half done and in storage for 10 years!) Keep up the fantastic work, and keep plastic ALIVE!
I have this kit but I bought it at least 15 years ago and stopped building for 12 years. I am now finishing this one as its my fave car and I just finished a Lancaster BII. My version of this kit is slightly different, mainly the decals are totally different to these and quite a bit more detailed. I am not sure if I have the race exhausts either but haven't checked. The colour schemes it suggests are one with a flowing white stripe down then centre or one with a yellow nose but I think I prefer all red really. I do have the same treaded tyres though... This has given me a few better ideas for painting as some of the suggested colours seem strange. Thanks for the video! Oh wait, having a closer look my tyres are nowhere near as heavy treaded as these and don't have the huge depth on the outer edges. Maybe the older versions of this kit were better which means I am lucky :D Just checked my kit and the racing numbers for the two options I have are 24 or 47 and the rear plates both begin with MO - 8. Good news is I do have the racing exhaust option. I think the older versions must have been better as I had zero mould lines on the main body at all, its perfectly smooth.

In four colur cars.. but when I try to start to build, feel sad that the all four kits will be finished.. so I opens the box, looks all inside, smells the great smell from the box, then keeps back in safe.. so I am waiting to order two more kits..
EC, that depends entirely on the complexity of the kit, age of the builder, and amount of detail desired. I used to build a kit in a day. Just glue and no paint. A #3 skill level kit takes me about 12 hours to build. it's really that variable! -Doug
I built a stock car that took about 3 months of off and on again work and it was really detailed with gas lines and wiring on the engine and other electrics
How long does it take for an advanced builder? It depends upon the builder's objectives, attention to detail and a host of variables. I am detail oriented and methodical (read: s-l-o-w), so it takes as long as it takes. Enjoy the journey. I build because it transports me to a place devoid of everyday concerns, worries and "the uglies". My models are few, but I get good results and my sweet family thank The Kit People for gettin' me out of their hair, I am sure. Cheers, brothers and sisters et al!
