- NBA All-Star Weekend. This mode allows the game player to play in the NBA All-Star Weekend, year-after-year, in Dynasty mode or go right to the Weekend in features on the main menu page. NBA All-Star Weekend includes the Rookie vs Sophomore game, the NBA All-Star game, the Slam Dunk competition and the 3 point competition.

I'm 26 and its unreal that this was 15 years ago.. by far the best dunk contest in any game. You guys remember what game had the 3v3 arcade style dunking ? On small courts? I thought it was 2002

Commentator 1: "He could've gone for a more memorable dunk"

I don't understand, how 2k can sleep and wake up and be like "yeah, we're okay with the way we have our dunk contest system". Like legitimately, live 05 was extremely ahead of its time.

This was the bomb back then... Way beyond the time, as still being the greatest in any video game. Large spectrum of dunks. Kenny Smith. It never looked greater in LIVE 06 and further.

After zooming in on the players after playing this dunk contest for years, I can say that the various players who were on the side during the dunk contests (that I know for sure) were: Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Jermaine O’Neal, Vince Carter, Stephon Marbury, Carmelo Anthony, Ron Artest (I think), Gilbert Arenas (I think).
Love the OG XBOX intro at the beginning,brings back GOLDEN childhood memories.
Dynasty is really awesome when you manually update the rosters, obviously the major names in the game, and then edit the ratings to the rookies, and then modify the ordered roster setups for best starting lineups, then simulate 3-6 years of dynasty straight, then play from 7-9 and the competition is above average and then finally you get quality with the divisions and conferences as well as finals gold. :)

The creativity and thought process in the early years were phenomenal.
Honestly man it seems like Sports Videos games peaked by 2005. Yeah you had some great next gen games like NBA 2K11 and NCAA Football 14, but after PS2/Xbox/GC things like exclusive licensings and microtransactions really had made sports games really bland and generic.

Still remember the day I played this game. The dunk contest itself gave us whole lot of creativity. Toss the ball off the floor, off the glass, off the shot clock, off the camera and even off the jumbotron. My favorite will always be 360 windmill reverse and honey dip.
Whose watching these dunks in 2019 all star? All star of 2019 need to take notes how to really dunk.

In 06 you have to do a cart well then you can do double
The older I got, the less I tried to do that dunk, cuz it was an easy 50. Also ZACLAND21 , if you only held L1 after the gather, you could do it without the cartwheel/filp

I remember playing this on the original Xbox with like 6 of my friend at my house taking turns lol
I remember seeing someone play this and Lebron did a rainbow hit the screen and did a double behind the back
The only real negative for this game was incoming generic players were spoken as their number and never spoken as their names unless someone else has seen otherwise cause it was always Marv Albert saying "Number 1" but i guess with a game being as "great" as it is one flaw doesn't outweigh the greatness
