Tradition....... If you grew up in a drumless quiet no hammond B3 organ Adventist church where clapping was forbidden you quietly will just sit there with this type of music.
This SDA church is/ WAS one of the most spirit filled SDA churches in my home town of Memphis! I don't know what their problem was that Sabbath. I dare to think it was jealousy. Lord help us to Worship You in SPIRIT and truth! Usually the hosting Church/Choir get with the visiting Church out of sheer gratitude for them traveling the roads filled with unseen dangers! I mean really? I am from Memphis and remember when this Church was established! They came mainly from Baptist churches and COGIC! They have drums even tambourines!!!! I did not make this concert but I was ashamed at how they responded not only to DP but can't understand how they could just sit contingent upon the Living Word of God through music! Even if they sounded a hot mess...the Words are so Powerful and breaks every yoke holding them down, bound, and in bondage! 😢 The mother Church of Memphis, Longview Heights where Gale Jones Murphy is from, is considered the coldest of all the ADVENTIST churches in Memphis and Very conservative! They have a few of the founding members or surviving relatives who first began the black church. Now there are I think 5 in Memphis! New Covenant, the Church I help build at around the same time as Breath of Life is the one more Spirit filled. As a matter of fact, me being the Minister of Music there brought my now ex husband in who was a drummer. I went to the pastor mentioning how unfair, un Christ like, to deny anyone from using their gift in the church. After all he played with James Cleveland, the Hawkins and Any visiting famous artist. We sang and traveled all over the country sharing the platform with Richard Smallwood and many others before I joined the Church and then bringing him in! Anyway, the Pastor, Elder Isaac Lester who passed away this year in his 90's, allowed my ex to play drums. Thus he was the first to play drums in South Central Conference! We both were founding members of Gale Jones Murphy and Company! We both are now Senior citizens and no longer active due to everyone getting Worship teams replacing the choir😢 Sorry for the Book😂 I pray for all of those who are musically gifted. Although this video is years old, things seem to be getting worse in the churches signifying we have become the Ladocean church the book of Revelation speaks of. Seems like folk are just going through the motions. And many have not returned to many churches after COVID! LORD COME QUICKLY!🙏🏼
WOW!! This is a 18th-century song, that has lasted because of its subject matter, the Blood of JESUS!! His blood is still powerful and effective. TH-cam says this was posted 7 years ago, but I just found it today. The live rendition I know was powerful, for this video is stirring and never captures the emotion of the time of the live performance. I don't know if this choir is still together, but thank God for TH-cam for capturing a time in history,
