    Sharks do not adjust well to captive conditions. Stunted growth. Permanent damage to the development of the sharks themselves. The lateral line on the body pick up electrical stimuli. The bumping into the glass is a sign of distress btw. When they get bigger, it is a possibility that they may stop eating.
    I know there are harsh comments here. I'm coming from a slightly different standpoint. I've studied sharks as a hobby. Just an advocate for animals living a good full life.

    Omg this is straight animal abuse. Black tip reefs need a way bigger enclosure. More substrate. More fish. And more blacktop reef sharks so the 2 don’t over dominate eachother. And more height or they are gonna jump out and your gonna come to your sick home with dried up beautiful animals. But the height should come with a 200,000 gallon round enclosure they need custom built. Unless your Tony Stark do not get real sharks it’s a bad idea for someone who hasn’t been taking care of saltwater aquariums their whole life.

    One thing y'all have to realize is beginner aquarium owners can be misled heavily by pet store owners. Some of them will just tell you what you want to hear to sell fish. I had one sell me an Iridescent "Shark". I had no clue they got to be 50 pound fish. It's too easy to trust pet store employee's when they have no clue how big some of these fish get too, and there are Shark species that stay really small like the Bamboo Shark. He also released the Sharks and got smaller fish, I give him the benefit of the doubt on this one. It's unfortunate but these things happen

    • @Cheesedaddy11
      @Cheesedaddy11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Josh What kind of question is that? Are we assuming all pet store employees make minimum wage? Are we just forgetting that a majority of jobs have a training period in which you learn about product (In this case fish.) When I walk into a store, especially a store that specializes in something that the employees would at least have basic knowledge of their product. Walmart employees make fuck all, yet when I ask someone in produce where something is they know what I'm looking for and where to find it in a fraction of the time it would have took me to find it. Same principle applies to a pet store, logic dictates that they should have SOME training and SOME knowledge about the fish they are selling. It's not hard to educate pet store employees as to how large a fish gets and if it can fit in your aquarium, especially seeing as they ASK you how large your aquarium is when you're looking to purchase a fish around here.

    • @goose_grandam
      @goose_grandam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      He sold you an Iridescent "shark" because that's what they're called. It's not the employee's fault you didn't quick do some research before buying a fish you had no knowledge about...

    • @Cheesedaddy11
      @Cheesedaddy11 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@goose_grandam Did I say it was the Employees fault? No. Your words not mine, a baseless illogical assumption on your behalf. I should have done some research, yes. But at the time I was a beginner in regards to owning an aquarium, and I also made an assumption that the employees at a pet store would have basic knowledge and understanding of the product they are selling (Fish).
      Anywhere I've ever worked I've undergone extensive training in regards to knowledge of the product I'm selling, and I'm responsible for educating my guests (aka customers) about the product I'm selling. I made a quick assumption that pet store employees had similar training, but boy was I wrong. That comes down to the store owners not educating their managers and supervisors, or the managers and supervisors for not having the decency to educate their employees about the product they are selling. That's what customer service is. Although customer service is dying in this day and age because nobody has standards, nor pride in their work anymore evidently. And people like you expect customers to do their own research, which is why half these small business selling fish die. They don't educate the customers enough to keep their fish alive, and as a result the customer doesn't do business at that store anymore.

    • @goose_grandam
      @goose_grandam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Cheesedaddy11 You implied it was the employee's fault, but didn't say it. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding. I do agree that a trained employee should absolutely inform a customer of what they might be getting themselves into with a particular fish, but as someone who has worked similar jobs I can say that informing a customer about their purchase almost never even comes to mind. For instance, if you were working at a restaurant chances are pretty good you wouldn't tell a customer the nutrition facts of a certain food item unless they asked you. Employee's don't know what you want to know unless you tell them what you want to know. And often times people working jobs like that get brushed off when they DO try to inform a customer about certain things. But yeah, I made the mistake of buying the pretty shiny "sharks" with the big eyes too, and now I'm putting all my money into this crap 😂

    • @Cheesedaddy11
      @Cheesedaddy11 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@goose_grandam Fish are living creatures though, a pet store should have really good standards and quality control. That's why most small businesses fail, lack of standards and quality control. Restaurant I can understand, but when selling live animals there should be a lot of training and education in my opinion. Especially because the average Joe walking into a pet store probably doesn't know a lot about fish species, and the internet is full of misinformation and old wives tales like "fish will only grow to the size of their aquarium, therefore you don't need to worry." When in reality your fishes organs keep growing and the fish will die in an aquarium too small, not to mention fish will grow so long they can't turn around in the aquarium anymore and damage themselves trying. It would be really nice to see pet stores standards rise a little considering most people kill a ton of fish when they start out with aquariums and they are needless deaths due to lack of education.

      Definitely cruelty. You can potentially keep sharks in an artificial setting, but this is _not_ that kind of aquarium.

    Bro such a beautiful animal, they dont belong in a tank. Do the right thing and let them go. They're going to die eventually they will or get a round 10 foot across above ground pool or something.

    That tank is waaaaay too small for those sharks and there only going to get much bigger, I hope you have plans for a much bigger living space for them, like a salt water swimming pool sized tank. I have a bigger tank just for one 6 inch turtle.

      Wrong ....... yes the grow in the ocean ....... anyone who has any fish knowledge at all will tell you sharks only grow up to 8 inches or a little bigger than that in a natural fish tank but it's recommended not to do that bc that stunts the fishes growth ........ so true but also not true.... your right they will die sooner than they would in the ocean...... but they will stop growing

    • @jayforerunner965
      @jayforerunner965 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No, Given the fact that these are not bottom dwelling species, these sharks need a lot of space to swim, and preferably in a round or circular aquarium. since these Black Tips aren't juveniles, I would day that they would need to be in a tank at least 1500 gallons. It sounds a lot, but these aren't small fish. they need plenty of space to swim.

    A shark in an aquarium barely large enough to accommodate a couple of Blennies fish, 3 snails , a benard the hermit crab and a sea urchin...WOW !
    Even a Roussette (Scyliorhinus canicula) which is a nice miniature shark doesn't fit in this type of tank , yet they are really small ; but i think that we haven't seen everything yet, One day we may see a blue whale in a jam jar.
    These are Black Tip Sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus) a pretty fish that is between 1.80 m and 2.10 m long and weigh 13 to 24 kg; they need a swimming pool to start with, with at least a 3 meter deep pit and at least 120,000 liters or 26,396.30 US Gallons of minimum capacity to live correctly ; a swimming pool not a tank !
    Bullshit everything being universal has no borders or limits, the proof in this video , when Idiots have money .
