Thanks to TH-cam community-both for the “thumbs up” and the friendly commentary. Dino is right; I bought this car from him in the fall of 2016. Since that time I have done a number of upgrades including paint, new leather seats and steering wheel, steel brake-lines, front calipers, clutch fork, electronic ignition, coil, cold-start valve, throttle position sensor, sun visors, oil and water temp senders, fuel sender and float, luggage straps, fuel pump, tires, and wheels (not shown here). To accommodate the electronic ignition, I had the tachometer rebuilt along with the clock. Everything in the car functions as new. The syncros and overdrive are both perfect. It gets a lot of stares and comments from people who recall nostalgically, “I remember those! I almost bought one back in the seventies!” I drove the car from Denver to Salina, Kansas a few years ago. At 80 MPH, the car did great, holding steady at 3800 RPM and staying cool in the hot temperatures. To be clear, Volvo never marketed the ES models as performance cars. For those who know these cars well, you will recall that Volvo scaled down the horsepower in the 1800 series in 1972, requiring only 91 octane gas instead of the 100 octane called for in the B20E series engines installed in the 1970 1800E. So while they look nice on the open road, handle relatively well, and accommodate a surfboard in the rear, they will not win any speed races.
I have a 2010 Volvo C30 and recently I was curious about older Volvo models. My mom was born in 1972 so I searched that year. As soon as I saw the rear of the 1800es I fell in love with the design. The C30 back glass and rear windows are very reminiscent of this beautiful car.
Proud C30 owner myself. Visited the Volvo museum in Gothenburg in 2022 and saw a 1800ES for the first time - instantly realized where my C30 got its inspiration from:)
Owed a 73 P 1800 ES FOR 30 YEARS, AND SOlD IT ONLY BECAUSE i COULD NO LONGER DRIVE IT UNDER LIC! TURNED UP WITH EPILEPSY! THE BEST WHEELS i EVER OWED! WTFO! SHE HAD NEW A NEW ENGINE, AND NEW LEATHER IN HER, AND 160,000 MILES ON HER! i'D OWN HER TODAY IF THE EPILEPSY HAD NOT GOTTEN ME! SOLD HER TO ANOTHER USCG OFFICER FOR WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A GOOD PRICE , AND I HOPE HE IS DRIVING HER TODAY. (4 SPD OVDRV) REGARDS, .
@@ZoomStranger I am still absolutely in love! I haven't been able to drive it this week due to how I have been working but I will be out on another drive tomorrow.
My favourite actress Jenny Agutter owned one of these when she live in Hollywood, it must have been a year or two old by then. Roger Moore drove an 1800S in The Saint and in real life. It's hard to heart what he is saying when he is driving.
well actualy it has a visual reason so that you can read the gauges behind it and having it centric lets you know if your alignment might be out. Maybe not your reason but the way all my cars are kitted out.
I was back and forth in high school about what car I considered the coolest on the road. My friends were all about Mustangs (by this time the Cougar was getting long-in-the-tooth), 442s, Novas, GTOs, GSXs, Challengers, Cyclones, and the other big block jobs, I was more geared toward the 1800ES, the rally versions of the Saab 96, Citroen SM, BMW Bavaria, and the then ten-year-old Studebaker Avanti. Never owned any, though I've had the opportunity (however brief it may have been) to drive most of them. The 1800 ES remains in my list of top three dream cars. No car built since has even registered a modest quickening of the pulse.
@@5610winston Thank you for your commentary. I recall everyone of those models. A friend of mine still has his 442--a 1969 with an M22 rock crusher that screams the quarter-mile. Personally, I would love to own a Citroen SM. The tight steering, Maserati engine, and advanced suspension were all ahead of their time. Unfortunately, I don't think I could afford the repairs.
Thats my old car! So glad its in good hands.

I just bought a red 1073 p1800es. litterally just 6 hours ago.
one month and six hours later - how is it going?

@@isaks3243 A year has passed - How’s the car?

This example is almost identical to the one I own. Solid red, upgraded wheels, AC, black seats etc.
license plate LMT ES?? so did he use it for mobile massage and toss the table in the back?
Why is the steering wheel sideways?
Thanks for your question, Mac. The steering wheel is tri-spoke, so it does not have an upright position.

Um....yes, it does have an upright position.....smh Don't make things up when you don't know the answer. Just sayin'.....
Last video ? What happened to your channel? More than 100k views on several videos, you were doing great
why did u stop?
Spectacular car!

Came here to see if his voice changed from a 2014 video.
Wish I had bought the 1800E in 1971 in New York.
The famous 3 million + mile P1800 owned by Irv Gordon until his death is a 1966 not 1967.
