What a way to start a Saturday morning!! Egg and deer breakfast sausage with fresh coffee and a Snowtrax review.... All before a SxS ride!! Gonna be a great day! Thanks guys 😄😄😄
I'm loyal to Ski-Doo, however Polaris' GPS system, the 650cc two stroke, and the ability to customize colors (and LED's) is further ahead of what Ski-Doo can offer. Hopefully they can come up to par for the 2023 model's, as I was going to order a MXZ-X 600 in the 1 of 2 color choices (Gray and Red). I'd still like to ride a yellow Ski-Doo.
SnowTrax Tv should come to Wabush and Labrador City in March and April months. We still have 4 to 6 weeks of good riding left in this area with world class groomed trails and scenery! You can't find a better place to test ride the 2022 skidoo's ........love watching your tv and youTube shows.
Spring ordered my Renegade XRS In black, smart shox, regular wide display, glove box extension for cell phone display/heater ( this is the best accessory, used all this year, with Ontario maps/Haliburton forest maps excellent)
Sled prices are going up up up and lately winter’s are shortening. I’m with you on the 2 stroke, I had a 4 stroke and you can’t beat the lightness of a 2 stroke!
I don't know if anyone else knows this but one thing about headlights is a more yellowish light reduces glare in bad weather. In our sport we get a lot of snowy conditions and glare of the snow. It's not a bad idea to have halogen lights in the headlights even though they aren't as bright as LEDs, if you can find an H4 or H13 yellow fog lamp that would be ideal if not you'd have to out a yellow film and reduce the over all light output of the headlights.
My 2019 XRS has the clutch vent on the left outside knee panel. I’m pretty sure that was introduced in 2019. It was in response to the 2018 G4 mountain sleds burning up belts and iSki-Doo included the 2019 Renegades vents as a last minute add. Incidentally, I replaced my original belt after my second season with 5,700 miles, so the vent isn probably helping. Nice video, Luke. I like the color too!
I think the installation at the factory of Link brackets in 2022 is more in response to the Kimpex Connect arrival to the market than the Polaris system. The BRP customers don’t have a choice to make from now on. Smart move from BRP
Just wanted to point out that the heated visor outlet is not standard. Ski-Doo is not offering visor outlets standard on most sleds because they want to sell the E-LinQ system which, is way better than a standard outlet imo. Also, the flip out mirrors are not standard either.
I get wanting to adjust the front and back separately, but you CAN adjust for a heavier rider with the torsion spring and preload on the track shocks to make sure it will sit right. The best thing about smart shox is that they are like the QS3, anyone can understand them and get on and ride. I do agree it wouldnt kill them to allow for an "advanced" or "individual" setting to adjust individually just like many high end cars do.
Torsion springs are manually adjustable like in previous models...you can actually see it at 10:53. Obviously, you can also adjust preload on the fronts as well.
@@Rizzzzzler yes that was my point. A heavier rider can adjust the ride height for their weight upon purchase, and the smart shox will still function as intended. Front and back adjustment is not necessary even for heavier riders
I think smart shocks are a great idea, and I'd love to see the in-depth review. Not a current fan of Skidoo models (G4), I'm riding a Polaris now and absolutely love the new 2022 XCR...I'd love to see a comparison between the two XRS vs XCR.
Great video Luke... Just purchased the same sled, but without the smart shock package. I went for the adjustable pkg, had it previously on my MXZ-X and loved it. Also, love the look of the yellow/black combo, just enough yellow to know it's a Ski-Doo! Was a little disappointed it didn't come with the LED headlights, but simply enough upgrade. I also upgraded to the 1.5 ice ripper, what are your thoughts on the 1.5 vs 1.25?
Good job Luke, I wondered about the shocks as well. There were days where I would only adjust the front, and times where I would adjust only the back.. I’m sure down the road they could absolutely have an app to tweak the ride in each setting.
Enjoyed the review luke. I would love to see a review of the renegade competition package being offered this year. I know it's unlikely because there's no new advancements, But it would be nice to see the beefed And added race components. But your review of the renegade XRS is pretty much the same thing besides the smart shocks... Just would love to see the competition package even just a walk around would be great. Ordered mine a couple weeks ago and there's very little online about it. Thanks again...
I spoke with my dealer about not having led lights, and his answer was the dealers dont want it from the factory, so they can sell the led light as a accessory
Nice review Luke, informative and interesting. Look forward to ride report. I ordered one with turbo-R. Its not an MXZ, just Renegade. Fold out mirrors and visor plug are not standard - dealer extras. Personally I would have preferred the new red/grey/black like the mxz but Reny only in yellow or black 😕
She arrived at the dealer this morning! Hehe 🥰 needless to say Jamie is a happy camper! Lol 😊💪🏻 video coming soon. Thanks for sharing your video. Really appreciate having a preview. 🙏🏻😊
Great overview, agree with the need for LED...staying with Halagon to get rid of old stock? The cluster needs to catch up with Polaris 7S Sat Nav. Seat storage built in like Polaris, a nice to have. That XRS looks sick for sure. Out here in BC some sled dealers say I need a 2" track and not the ice ripper...I prefer the idea of the pre studded track. Curious to hear what you think of the smart shocks on that brute.
I'm guessing that the reason there is not more adjustability with smart shocks is because there is a huge amount of programming that is involved to make the system work. Someday with A.I. you'll probably have infinite soft to firm adjustment.
100% agree ! Don’t know why BRp doesn’t make the leap to LED lights??? It’s like they almost want to give other brands A fighting chance and not completely dominant the industry ?! Lol Same with the new gauges, I would have thought they also would have something very similar to Polaris 7s package with gps??? Strange? Great review as usual! Anything else on the lynx coming?
I just ordered a 23 renegade xrs 900r with smart shocks and 1.25 ice ripper. Normally a polaris guy. Nervous about trying something different. Hopefully I love it
Honestly the LED lights are terrible. If you follow any sort of rally racing they run yellow lights to help eliminate glare on the snow. The LED lights are way too white and are great for creating glare on the snow. They make it look expensive and nice but I think a good pair of halogens are better. And taking a look at cars and such when the LED headlights go bad you have to replace the whole unit costing some massive cash.
True they are very expensive to replace but I would rather ride my axys with leds than my skidoo any night. I don't get glare I just get to see the trail
The yellow tint is contrast based at 2700k and standard led tint 6000k-6500k is closer to the natural sunlight making an equal opposite contrast at night time or in inclement weather especially at night. Choosing the optimum between the two can be done when choosing the led bulb. A good tint for poor visibility at night is 5000k.
I had led lights on my nytro and they didn’t produce enough heat to keep the headlight from frosting over or melt snow off it. That could be one reason for the lack of led lights.
I’m not looking forward to Bluetooth app adjustments ..sorry but in -30 back country I want a manual dial. Great review !!! I agree with soft seat we have this sled (husband) I’m upgrading from 2017 MXZ X so this was super helpful!

Instead of buying the $400 auxilary led buy a pair of GTR Gen 2 leds for $200 and you'll have the brightest and best coverage led on the snow. No light scatter or dark spots like cheap leds. Plus lifetime warranty.
We tried so hard to get a Thundercat from Cat but unfortunately they just couldn't work out delivery. Hoping we will have one delivered in the fall to use for the season and we can do an overview and evaluation as soon as the snow falls.
I was wondering about that too. The 3rd wheel is outboard on the right skid and inboard on the left. Is that an R-Motion X thing or new this year? Looks odd and not up to Ski Doo engineering standard.
The 6000k most LED lights come in while brighter, glare alot more off the snow and in snowing conditions. A halogen bulb while not as bright it'll cause less fatigue to your eyes and in inclement weather, visual fatigue is a big no no
