I'm between the M7 RR and the Continental Road Attack 2. I'm riding an 2009 675 primarily on twisty roads, so grip is concern #1 while mileage is concern #2. Are the RA2's worth the extra money or are the M7's on par for less?
nothing beats a M7RR! the best all rounder sport tire! rain cold warm gravel asphalt cement painted any surface really. doesn't need to warm up that much just ride! riding metzeler for 8 years and i dont need to look for any other brand.
Bur Ozt i'm sorry, but i've hardly ever read such bullcrap....on my old gsxr 600 (srad) the pilot road 2 rear tire didn't barley make it to the 6000km mark. how on earth should it be possible to make 10000km with a sports tire on 1000cc superbike ??.....btw, carrying the bike around on a trailer doesn't count ! ;)

Last summer I used my bike on Adriatic and Alps roads 6000 kms, after that I didn't changed my tires and there was still thread life at 10K. I got 10400 kms out of a set of Dunlop Sportsmarts, the first gen sportsmarts not the new Sportsmart 2 on a 2012 ZX10R and its not like I was taking easy on them because the BT016 tyres that come on it I only got 3500 kms and the Q3's after the sportsmarts only lasted 4000 kms. I think sometimes people wear tyres out prematurely because they don't set the bike up for them. suspension, tyre pressure and riding style plays a big part in tyre longevity.
The thread pattern looks a bit like a road tire rather than a track day tire. The M5 has less thread on it but has some on the edges. Is this a step up from the M5 or an upgrade of the Z series?

Thanks for the comment I just purchased a 2008 mint FZ1 and it has the original tires from the factory still on it I been searching for tires. If you go to my page you'll see the bikes I have owned and what tires I had on them. On my 750 Katana i had Bridgestone t30evo and they were garbage. To much slippage in conering. I have been studying a lot of tires and no one talks about this tire at all. Is there any other observations you had with the tire that make it great, like conering, acceleration, speed, handling, balance, warm up times, and overall performance? I would like to know. Thanks
@@BaldKiwi117 it’s quiet good super sticky in rain due to the thread. Drove home for like 2.5 hours in heavy rain (a bike careful) but the bike has been stable as a rock.
Nice. I do plan on trying a set of that kind of tire, but I don't think any other tire is better than Bridgestone. I get caught in the rain a lot and the Bridgestone holds up nicely and I'm able to brake just find with no sliding. Even hit high speeds with no tire spinning, slipping etc. Bridgestone the brand of tire that I 100% completely trust. This m7 might be able to compare wity the bto23 sport touring tire. Actually the m5 and z8 would be bout in the same category with the m5 being more on the sporty side. Can't find the m7 though but it seems like a great tire

The Hitman I have a 2016 R1 don't do any track days but very aggressive on a lot of mountain and Canyon rides also a good bit of highway miles. was thinking about the super Corsa SP V2 but not sure if that's the best tire for me considering where I ride
That bike is so beautiful. So lean and elegant, compared to ultra aggressive Italian brands, chunky and awkward yamahas, "showroom classy" hondas and the squidy Kawasaki Zs. Kawasaki supersports are more beautiful but even those don't come close to this.
I wouldn't generalize on an ethnic level but as far as Triumph is concerned, ever since the first Daytona 675 their design department has been giving lessons to other brands.

Pour avoir testé son concurrent routier le bridg s22r a un grip nettement supérieur mais longévité plus réduite, j'ai fait 2000 km avec contre 3000 à 3500 km avec le m7rr uniquement sur route, mais testé aussi au nürburgring Nordschleife. Donc pour moi le s22r est meilleur mais peut être moins polyvalent que le m7rr.
I just hate dual compound tyres after having the Michelin Pilot Road 2's , holy shit do they suck, everyone raved about them but I feel like are so unstable and just want to drop when learning into corners, no confidence on them whatsoever compared to what I've ridden on before which is mostly Metzeler whatever the softest sport ones were and the MICHELIN super softs urg just can't get over how bad they were, just turned me off dual compound for good, someone would have to give me a free set pretty much to even make me want to try any dual compound again.
I agree about the Michelins. They were like that in the 90's even before the dual compound generation. The Michelins would be great when new, but about halfway through they would just drop into the corner as if sliding, even though they're not. That just robs every bit of confidence. I then switched to the Metzeler ME011 and never looked back. Am now using the Metzeler M5, after the Z8. Just awesome tyres.
bikezonly I just can't agree more with you mate. 100% right at what you've said. M5 and Z8 are both awsome tyres on dry or wet contitions. I can't imagine me riding on different maker than metzerel after I have tryed those.
+TheSydguy30 I had gone through 2 sets of PR 2 and had no problem with it, I have read about complaints in some forums and the problem is that Michelin tyres need more air pressure, I pump it up to 42 psi, try it and most of your problems will be gone.
+TheSydguy30 check the suspension on your motorcycle (and tire pressure). I've ridden a few pilot roads (2,3,2CT) and they do tend to feel a bit more sporty because of the shape but never had the problem of falling into a corner.
Mine is the opposite, local bike shop used to sell x Metzeler race tyres, I used to buy them all the time, they never gave out on me not once even scraping the pegs on my CBR.

I used Metzeler M7 RR for 10K kms on my 1000RR and there is still tread life. It is both great on dry and wet road conditions. Recommended...

+Bur Ozt I got nearly 10k out of the original Dunlop Sportsmart too, on a GSXR 1000, so totally believe it.

Been using the Metzeller M7RR on my KTM RC390 for about 2.5 years and drove even in heavy rain and they perform exceptionally well.
