- I've taken private planes through customs. Seen it happen at FBO's plenty of times, but this is a first: A Swiss-tailed Pilatus arrives at Rocky Mountain Metro Airport outside Denver. Rather than taxiing to one of the FBO's, the $12 million jet taxis to the center of the ramp and keeps the engines running.
Rather than going to the customs office, an armed customs officer comes to the plane. I'm thinking it must be nice to be so rich that customs waits for you. The officer gestures the pilot to kill the engines, and then starts an inspection using some sort of scanning device. She circles the entire plane, and then approaches the door and motions for it to be opened.
The officer is onboard for about 10 minutes. A custom car approaches the plane and then leaves. I'm waiting to see who (and how many) deplane, but nobody does. Instead, they close the door and taxi away.
I checked Flightaware - Appears the PC24 was on its first strip. Flying to Colorado via Iceland and Canada.
Rocky Mountain Metropolitan is my flying base in Colorado. I've captured videos while flying Cessna 182's and Cessna 182RG's into the Rockies from KBJC, but this was the first time I've ever captured activity on the field.
I am an airplane and airport loving pilot and photographer. I capture and share experiences at New York Kennedy, New York Laguardia, Chicago, Washington, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Columbus, Detroit, Louisville, Atlanta, Tampa, Denver, Clearwater, Detroit and San Juan airports so far. I often fly myself to the airport where I'm shooting, as I did for this video.

A truly beautiful corporate jet that can land on unimproved runways. That has got to be the coolest job - ferrying business jets from the EU to the USA or Asia.
And a portable toilet.
That is the customs sniffer box. It is the magic tool to catch everything!
Do you mean a snuff box?
Looks like it arrived, cleared customs & taxied over to the Pilatus Completion Center at the west end of the field.
Excellent. Thanks for sharing.
According to a buddy of mine at the FAA those arrive at least 1 a month, sometimes 2. And quite often they arrive in a primer green color since that completion center can paint the planes too.
If this was in the NW US, customs is always checking for radioactivity, after the Fukushima disaster. Had our aircraft checked in Bellingham after a short flight from Whistler.
Canadian Arrival! No wonder they checked you for radiation.
Currently in service with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia.
A lot of American doctors fly around in private jets, but we don't call them royal!
@@Bravoalphacharlie You might find it interesting to search RFDS and find out what they do. Basically it is a medical service for outback Australia and Includes emergency treatment and retrieval of patients, regular clinics for remote communities, tranfers, etc. Most outback stations (large rural properties, some covering many 10s of thousands of sq km) have unsealed air strips and hence the widespead use Pilalus 12s for general use and the P24s for the more long haul services, both of which can land on unsealed runways.
they normally come out to plane . Flew private jet out of BJC
NBAA story says they use GR-135 Radiation Isotope Identifier (RIID).
Thanks for sharing.
Looked like a "Geiger-Counter" to me !
Cesium check? Rumors of some in the EU in non-typical areas.
Excellent! Please Subscribe. I need that kind of insight.
the right engine is working as APU (special feature by Pilatus-24).
Thanks for sharing
cool 👍 😎 🆒️
thanks
Scanning for contraband donuts it looks like...
You know those Swiss...
Why did you edit the closing of the jets door?
I didn't. I captured some other traffic. Looks like the door closed shortly after the Gulfstream 650ER taxied to its FBO. When I got back to it the door was closed.
What tools does the officer use?
From handtools, like screwdrivers to power tools, depends on the info they have. What the Officer used when she walked around the jet is a radiation detector, that can also identify the source of the radiation if one is found.
I bet the custom officer didn’t find the secret compartment with the coke and the smack that’s going to pay for this puppy…
😂😂😂
There are plenty of secret compartments in an airplane.
