The U.S. no longer produces enough military pilots to handle all of the world's pilot needs. The co-pilot on a regional American carrier needs a minimum of 1,500 flight hours. Either we train commercial pilots or reduce flights drastically and tell folks to take the bus.

The Pilatus is bigger, carries more and has a lavatory. The Eclipse only has six seats, but it flies 70kts fast, climbs 1,500 fpm faster and flies higher. There have been a couple P12 incidents with ice due to the climb or ceiling. Don’t treat the Pilatus like an all weather airplane and you’ll be fine.
