Versatility.. I like that, a much more appropiate word for describing variation and differences ..as opposed to a certain overused buzzword starting with 'd'.
She had a really good scream, but I find I like it more when she screams occasionally rather than for most of the song. New Way Out was perfect for it.
Strangely Poppy embodies the true punk spirit. She doesn't sit in one genre, she does what makes her feel good. The fact that everything she does she manages to do so well is just mind boggling. I hope she inspires people to do the same because she's hit the legendary status for me and I can't think of too many musicians I consider to be true artists like I consider her to be.
I genuinely have no words. Been listening to her since 2018 and never had my jaw drop like this at a Poppy release 😭 edit: after a few listens it dethroned flux as her best album holy shit AOTY
@ i’m a sucker for that 90s grunge/shoegaze sound so i might be biased. I disagree was phenomenal but her voice and lyrics were nowhere as polished as they are now
@@YearningForTruth It depends on what your definition of heavy music is. For me it's the thrashing guitar, relentless drums and goosebump-inducing screams. They're all around us takes a break from the heaviness with the lighter chorus, while the center's falling out is pure violent rage from beginning to end.
The fact that this is the same woman who made "Moshi Moshi", "Computer Boy", and "Money". All my favs from my childhood I love her range its like I literally grew up with her i love her so much 😭😭😭
First Poppy song I saw was X, which was her first metal song. It was also my first metal song all the way back in 2018, then after that I went down a poppy rabbit hole. Since she didn't have any metal song at that time i used to jam to her pop songs so much. Still enjoy them too.
This is definitely not the type of genre one would find in my playlist but I truly, truly appreciate Poppy's versatility and actually enjoy every song she does
she's come a long way with them. She mastered the pitchless fry screaming - despite what some metalcore snobs seem to love saying about her having awful technique and she's going to ruin her voice, it's just that we're not used to hearing it from someone with such high vocal placement. Now she's moving into using her lower register more, for singing AND screaming, and it's given her voice a whole new character. I really enjoy her lower, fuller M1 singing
Being familiar with her early songs, she has a tremendous range (rage?). I think she could put out a hit country album out next year. Keep it up Poppy!
Like with Allie X, the fans believe in the artist and trust their talent and instincts to make good whichever direction they go in. I'd love to see a collab between those two. Allie is broadly indie synth pop with her own unique flavouring but you listen to a track like Off With Her Tits from the most recent album (firmly coldwave in genre and totally self written/produced) and aside from her vocal abilities being generally astonishing, she's got grit in there she could lean into
Guys she's going on tour again, where she's the main act, show her your support and go to her concerts. Can't wait till she comes to Chicago, House of Blues.
Jesus Christ Poppy, I understand you want to go heavy. But going, raising the dead heavy?🤣 She's absolutely killing the metal scene and I couldn't be happier!
Listened to both albums several times, my conclusion: New Poppy >>>> New Linkin Park, always been a fan of their and probably always will be but these last two albums by our queen have been nothing short of sweet perfection!!! *chef’s kiss* 🤌🤌
I have always wanted to hear Poppy go full Dillinger and here we are. I suppose I could have guessed that it would happen a few tracks after she doffed her cap to Madonna and Ray of Light........

I've been listening to metal core death core and shit like this my whole life and I want to share that I appreciate how crazy she's going within the metal and rock space. It's not just some metal influence. she's making exemplary pieces of fresh work inspired from a wide range of rock subgenres, and all of this within a greater variety project that seems to imply a thesis of the art. It's generic in that it represents the staple features of each rock influence but is still fresh in its approach, like a minimalistic approach, focused on well executed fundamentals like riff, chugging, dissonant high pitched clashing notes, alternate picked parts, and a full complement of core vocals. It makes each song like a Halloween bag filled to the brim with just the good shit, hershey bars and jolly ranchers. And this entire rock and metal microcosm exists within a greater variety project that frames the heavier shit. Which makes it pop harder. The depth, the mastery, it just goes so crazy. Album of the year.
Her and Jordan are a magic combo that imo, complement and elevate each other's talents and instincts, so I hope to see more of them together! They wear their influences on their sleeve but in a way that makes it obvious that they're building blocks and not just retreada/rehashing, if that makes sense
I will die being a huge fan of I Disagree, but girl, this album has made me question its first place as Poppy's best album-wow, what production and technique!

Bro I love this to no end but I can not help but wonder if this was written by knocked loose or at least the lyrics written by Brian Garris. Perhaps it’s just pure influence that made her create this masterpiece, but it’s something I can’t shake.
Is she not going to release any audio video or visualizers for the album tracks? I didn't even know the album came out already earlier. Anyway, this album is 🔥, easily my favorite album of Poppy!
Oooh! Heavy!

(bad joke ik :P )
