The 3.5 mile long Rockaway Beach Branch is one of the last remaining rail right-of-ways left in New York City. The debate over rail restoration or park is over: Queens can have BOTH and deserves BOTH. But only by designing both transit and park space together can we move Queens closer to the transit equity we all deserve. Help us in our fight to build the QueensLink, which will provide a one seat ride between Midtown, northern Queens and southern Queens, and provide up to 33 acres of new park space along the right-of-way. Use the letter writing tool in my bio to help Queenslink secure state funding to move #RailsandTrails forward!

Queenslink provides both the necessary public transit that straphangers need (also eases congestion along the Q11/21/52/53) and the park space that the Queensway proposes. Queenslink all the way!

Building a subway line on the abandoned LIRR tracks will definitely bring needed subway service between the Rockaways and Rego Park. The 52/53 SBS can only do so much, so expanding subway service would relieve congestion and bring quicker service and much needed connections

@@durece100QueensWay is a park only, QueensLink is a compromise between a new subway extension and a park. The first only benefits the NIMBYs and is just another High Line, the second benefits the majority. I am not even an American or a civil engineer and I know which is the better proposal…

Reactivating these tracks for light rail is a terrible idea. There are ROWs on the IND QBL that are dug out and ready to connect these tracks to QBL. My solution: Send the (F) Train local via QBL and via Express on the abandoned tracks to Far Rockaway - Mott Av. Send the (V) Line from Broadway - Lafayette St to Rockaway Park - Beach 116 St Local on QBL and tye abandoned tracks. Extend the (C) to Howard Beach - JFK Airport and have the (A) go to Ozone Park - Lefferts Blvd ONLY at all times. The (C) can use the unused express tracks south of Howars Beach - JFK Airport as lay-ups for terminus. Reactivate the lower level of the Woodhaven Junction station along with the elevated one so this new spur can have LIRR access. At night, (V) service will be reduced to the shuttle we have today between Rockaway Park - Beach 116 St and Broad Channel, connecting to a local (F) train. To replace the express service on the QBL and the Jamaica - 179 St branch, bring back the (K).

I think it's a classic case of news reporters misunderstanding what "light rail" is
I've seen full metro systems been labelled by the media as "light rail" and the renderings and images show subway trains anyways

this had WAYY too much potential, forest hills to far rock away, and possibly bringing back the T or K trains, it’s just a great use of the tracks.
