I’ve been following you on here for about 15 months now…(have viewed previous reels too)and have definitely enjoyed learning about what you do. I live in Waipu - rurally - around quite a lot of dairy farms (including ones with jerseys too). I’m now starting to understand what they are doing around me. I now realise why I don’t smell silage like we used to - and what is in the large green bales, maize buns & what is growing in the fields. There sure is a lot more involved in farming than I had realised…the hard work, the technology and the timing of all you do. Well done you!
Used to get the house milk out the bottom of the filter. The keystone butterfly valve on the bottom of the tank can be a contamination issue. The butterfly valve, tanker connection is one component to cold/hot wash inside and out regularly. The Whakatane Beacon TH-cam channel has a video title "Fonterra milk tanker" that shows the sampling equipment and the tanker connection. (interesting to see the mesh strainer in the tanker hose connection side, the mesh inclusion must be based on past happenings)
👀🙄🐾👍Great video Andy have you and Dad made your mind up as to weather you'll be growing chicory again or something different? Do you know if anyone else on your run graded as well it maybe the tanker that's the issue!
Disclaimer, I'm not a farmer. With the cell count collection cups would you not be better off not putting your fingers in each cup? It looks like there is breeding time for bacteria as it sits outside and not in a chilled space. Those wouldn't impact the vat testing I imagine but just curious if just a quick change in how you load the cups might help?
Give Fonterra a ring to find out if anyone else on the load had a Bacto spike, to rule out the tanker. Check the milk VAT first if not and make sure the wash is hot and using chemical. It's nearly always the VAT.
Our random grades are usually Ecoli mastits. Common if you use a feedpad. Cow will dump a heap of cells one day and not the next. Very frustrating and hard to find. Stripping regularly is only way were able to find it. Milk will look a off yellow colour.
I can drink milk straight from the cow but am as crook as a dog with whole milk from the shop. Lactose intolerant they call it but I call that BS. Something in the processing sets me off along with all the other so called lactose intolerant people.
Bacto could be anything, a seal has come off or been pinched and milk has got behind it, the CIP at the back by 3 way tap for vat could have failed and could be some cheese deposites back there or a inflation could have a hole in it and could be cheese behind a shell. I always get milk from front and give it a good wash down and haven’t had any issues, other thing could be if no signs of grading could challenge fonterra
i had it once where the tanker came during milking and i was every 2nd day and it didn't get washed for 4 days in total so it got me a bacto grade which got wiped.
I would wonder who used the testing equipment right before you got it? Was it cleaned well enough? Did anyone else that followed that person have a down grade result?

Love the background of the lay of the land. Thanks for explaining what you are doing that helps us that aren't farmers. Almost 28k subscribers!
Thanks mate, a wee way off though 😂
It is great that you did the naturalized areas
Those calves look awesome i see one has got horns still..young grsss is going very well
Thanks, that one never got dehorned as I was waiting for a DNA result to come back so she needs doing at some point 👍
Check your test bucket and test bucket hoses mate. Caught us out this year assuming your using with treated cows 👍
Never thought of that but might as well give them a check 👍

You can sometimes get a sample from the plant and another from vat and get tested
Having a winner such a great feeling.
The grading can come from your vacuum lines we had a grading then it was on the vacuum drain pipes
thanks for sharing

At this moment I’m not going to, I need to do a video why and explain it for you 👍
Not too sure but I think I might give them a ring and have a chat
Stunning as usual..... That's the scenery I'm on about...... 😮😅.. your fairly used to that system and parlour now.. Nice vid .. stay safe 🏴
Thanks 👍

SCC for that pickup was only 130 so not to bad, might ring them and have a chat 👍
Yip that would be right, Ecoli mastits doesn’t seem to effect the scc. Bacto and coli will be up at the same time. Good luck.
Ahh that makes sense then, thanks mate 👍
Nice video lovely autumnal weather
We put a bomb through which is a sanitizer for 15 minutes once a week. Just check plate coolers
Rooky mistake in the vat tap getting your milk!😂
Been there done that!
Haha I did think of editing it out but thought it would’ve been funnier to leave it on
Great video Andrew love the show👍
Thanks 👍
Getting milk out of the vet is something my family hav bin doing for years and i think its better than store milk
Definitely more creamy 👌

Great video. Enjoyed it.😊
Maybe open up your platecooler sometimes that blocks up
👍
I also believe that they know there number.

That’s good then and they should’ve wiped it, not your fault 🤷
I might give them a call and see if I can get it re tested or whatever
@@TheOnceADayFarmer yeah be worth it mate can't trust them sometimes lol
Hi I like your video
Have you had the cold nights in the pasted week?
Hasn’t been too bad 👍
@@TheOnceADayFarmer Ok you've lucky then Friday and Sunday night were bitterly cold
We have been getting house milk for years
Hi spray
I’m very surprised you have only just started taking milk from the vat. It way better than town milk
Just found it easier to buy bottles and holly doesn’t like the milk in the vat but kids love it so that’s a win
Has it bacto back to normal
Yep back to normal now
Good luck with Loren tomorrow
Thanks, wasn’t her day 😂
Her day will come. Nice to see you get the win with Medina.
I would wonder who used the testing equipment right before you got it? Was it cleaned well enough? Did anyone else that followed that person have a down grade result?
All the tankers have the machines on them but maybe 🤷
nz framer 😁
