My theory is that the kid who was waving to Chris in the last scene is the one with the powers. He saw him fall and saved him from hitting the ground just in time. So I think Life is Strange 2 is gonna be all about this kid with the telekinetic powers and saving Chris will be part of the game which is why it says "Meet Chris again in LIS 2". The reason why I think this, is because there's no way the kid didn't see Chris hovering over the floor. Anyone else would have freaked out or given some kind of reaction at the sight of that. But he just casually waved hello. So yeah, that's what I think. I could be wrong. But this is what came to mind when watching that scene.

51:13 i know im a bit late but you are entirely correct. the artist, Sufjan Stevens lost his mother, the album this song resides in is about his conflicting response with grief and how he deals with it. its a deeply raw and emotional album and genuinely unlike anything ive heard. There's one line, "I forgive you mother, I can hear you" this is probably the most heartbreaking and revealing lyric of the song. his mother was fairly mentally ill. she abandoned him and his brother with their family and never really parented them significantly. if i remember correctly they became estranged later in life until his mother was hospitalized. they reconnected until his mother's death. in that line, after her death, he forgives her for what shes done.
(Spoiler) My theory is that Chris doesn’t have a power such as Max’s yet the one of the kids shown at the end smiling at him as he almost plummeted from his treehouse. Why else would they be there and smile at him? One of them either has time powers such as those of Max or telekineses and levitated him before he fell. Chris is not the protagonist of Life is Strange 2 as confirmed by the developers, yet a minor character. Why would a minor character have such powers and not be the protagonist? It just wouldn’t make sense but then again this is just a theory!
I've always wanted a story about the non-super powered sidekick of a hero character! Thought it could be an interesting concept and you learn about their jealousy (or lack thereof) and/or their thoughts about the situation. If they did that with LiS2, it would be grand!
I just finished the game. Those kids were Mrs Reynolds' grandkids. That's why they are there. But I'm not opposed to the theory that the other kid have powers.
omg you might be right because the 2 boys at the end should have seen him levitate but they act so normal about it which is weird , levitating/telekinesis power huh ? how can that affect the narrative and the conversation system like the rewinding did ? because tbh unless the power will affect the conversation like rewinding it wouldn't be as good , maybe the crucial choices would be like "you gotta act fast move this or move this" kinda deal ?

The Sufjan Stevens song they use is the first from the album ‘Carrie and Lowell’, which is an album entirely concerning Sufjan’s own coping with the death of his mother. It’s also a bit of a love letter to the Oregon coast, which obviously works excellently with the setting. I think its use is more to do with general mourning of a mother lost to death than specifically with the Death With Dignity Act, though I could be entirely wrong.
I just went back and watched your play-through of LIS 1 and noticed something else awesome too! It's in Episode 1, right after Aoife has Max take a photo of the guy falling off his skateboard. She runs over to talk to Stella and you can see that the big photo they're next to is a blown up version of the same image on the book by Jefferson which sits on the bookshelf in Chris' living room!
I just love the way they interweave the song so much! It's just such a quiet, interesting way to infuse a scene with meaning, and is completely in keeping with the general beautiful tone of LIS.

DONTNOD approache subjects like domestic abuse and class issues with a lot more sensitivity than most other studios. Can't help but to compare it to something like the cartoonish depictions by Quantic Dream; most recently in Detroit. I enjoy Cage's games but that man obviously has no clue how it is to grow up like this. So it's refreshing to play something like this - something I can genuinly relate to. And this fits perfectly into the LiS universe because those games, to me, are all about these vignettes that capture a feeling from your youth and childhood when just a couple of weeks or even days 20-30 years ago is burned so deep into your memory that it feels like this epic, romanticised tale. So having this set during a pretty ordinary Saturday morning makes it even better. It warms my heart to see your reaction to these games, because I can tell that it gets you both in the gut. As well it should. Both DONTNOD and you are a force for good within the realm of video games!

There is no gender when it comes to Life is Strange. Surely they started it with female protagonist but it does not mean that it was solidify for teenage girls story. Not unless developer said so. Just saying.
While it is true that Life Is Strange doesn't necessarily NEED a female protagonist, it is also true that the first two games had them -- and two LGBT protagonists no less -- making both a part of the series' identity for sizeable amount of people. That's not say it's wrong to not mind about a shift in protagonists, but considering how under-represented both women and LGBT are as protagonists outside of player-created characters for RPGs, it also shouldn't be too difficult to understand why some may disappointed at this potential shift away.
Agreed. Life is Strange is a series about.. well.. Life and how strange it is. They shouldn't feel the need to repeat themselves time and time again, we can have all kinds of different protagonists and stories.
I just noticed something. When you get into the truck on the steering wheel in the center the truck symbol is the same one Chris using as his Captain spirit CS on his cape!
This game wasn't as heavy as Chloe's story but I still cried at the end man 💔. I'm hoping Chris runs away with the train hoppers and meets up with either Chloe or Max in LIS2. Something along those lines idk.
Definitely think the little boy at the end is the one with powers, and he saved Chris; I also assume that the desire to sing along to Frozen and have his Ice Queen doll is video-game-level hinting that Chris isn't straight (straight boys are welcome to love those things, but video games tend to do stereotypical associations pretty heavily), and I hope the non-white boy next door is LiS2's powered, not-straight, not-white protagonist :-)
(And I assume that it'll be them when they're older. I would love to have women as the protagonists, but if not, I'll take a non-white dude if they are canonically not-heteronormative!)
I think this demo was to showcase what Chris´ childhood was like, what his imagination was capable of. Her mother was an artist, she also enjoyed playing video games and creating interesting comicbook characters, so we know who Chris gets his imagination from. We will probably meet Chris all grown up in Life is Strange 2, probably teaching or working as an independent artist or something, taking care of his old grumpy drunk dad and maybe with teenager kids with powers of their own, who knows? Also, we can see throughout the demo that every time he used his powers he had the remote control behind his back or pulled off some kind of trick, but when he falls from the tree house and levitates, there´s no trick, that´s his actual power. He discovered his power when put in a dangerous situation, the same way Max did when put in the situation of the storm possibly destroying Arcadia Bay. Life is Strange 2 is gonna be a roller coaster of emotions. Can't wait! I wouldn't mind playing with little Chris again, won't you guys miss him? I feel like he's my fictional son that I gotta take care of. Haha!
Not sure if anyone ellse has said this, but I think it's interesting that the guy who voiced Mantroid and the Bava's pizza man were the same guy, so I'm guessing the mom died going to get some pizza on the corner of Mantel and Asteroid, or the man is the killer himself. Also, Odessa is a person on a phone sex line. You find the number if you go to Dad's room and put his pants in the wash before you turn the machine on. Also, when I called the Reynold's house when I played through the game, I got a weird garbled sound on the other line, and was wondering if anyone else got it, and if they did if the could explain what that was about? Edit: I also noticed the idea of "Death With Dignity" has been displayed throughout the LiS universe before like when (Original LiS SPOILER) in the original LiS in the alternate timeline, Chloe wanted to die this way by Max's doing instead of deteriorating slowly since she was incurable. Even Chris's treatment of Snowmancer can be characterized as a "death with dignity" since you have to "rebuild" Snowmancer before you destroy him, defeating him in his top condition instead of beating him while he is down. This was just a random thought bye : )
I believe that Chris's story will continue with him being the same age. At least at first. I think the story will have him finding his mom's killer. The hints that were given make me think that. And that he has powers he might use them to find clues. He might age or remain a kid. Doesn't matter to me. Look at walking dead season 2. Clem had to grow up fast and survive a harsh world of unimaginable chaos. Chris might have fun at first with his powers, but might have to tackle serious situations that force him to mature quickly.
If it's the same as Captain Spirit, about two brothers, and they've said that it's not the last time we'll see powers. The two characters at the very end are the most likely candidates.
If Captain Spirit took place after LIS 1, there would be at least a reference to Mark Jefferson's Arrestment. The end of the LIS 1 is two different choices which the creators didn't wanted to canonize in LIS 2, but either way, in both endings, Jefferson is arrested. He was a very popular photographer, even after some years, people would still talk about it. I believe Chris is going to be the protagonist or one of the support characters of the LIS 2, which shall take place at least 7 years after the events of CS.

Some of the decisions are supposed to be directly related to LiS 2, so I think that the protagonist of season 2 is going to be an older Chris, at least I hope so. I'd like to see how Chris develops into adolescence and if he becomes an angry teen
So, i know one thing - i don't want Season 2 to have Max as main character - don't get me wrong, i love her and Chloe, but their story is closed for me and I want to let Chloe sleep... Dammit I'm not crying, you are crying! Honestly I didn't even play Before the Storm for the same reason. It is just too emotional for me to go back. So I'm sure there will be some connection with seasson one, but i want different story with different characters. It can be boy :-) But not that young. Maybe he will be side character.
it wont be max , my guess is that it will be one of the two boys at the end , and one of them have the power to levitate/telekinesis and saved chris at the end , which would make alot of sense since they doesn't look shocked to see a boy levitate and it said to be continued

The kid next door is the one with the powers. Max found out what she was capable of when she saw Chloe in danger on the school bathroom. This time, the kid next door saw what was about to happen and had to save him from a terrible accident. We will see a new strong friendship evolve throughout the game.
I love eurogamer so much specially their affection to the Life is strange. Only thing tho, I wish you guys played in the TV room while Dad was awake, you would have seen the Dad's reaction to Chris.
I never understood why people had such a hard time finding the eggs in the original. But here it took me 20 minutes to find the garage key because I just didn't check the wall above eye level.
Watching this gameplay, the song Above the Clouds of Pompeii by Bear's Den came to mind. It's a beautiful song, yet quite sad as well. It's a son talking to his father about coping with his mother's death (that's how I interpreted it anyway). Give it a listen, I think you'd like it.
Loved this play through:) I think the powers at the end is real. It reminds me a lot of when Max first gets her powers in that it was a super stressful emotional moment that sorta caused her time travel powers to kick in. This is a very emotional stressful moment for Chris. Maybe the LIS universe is filled with a few special people that in moments of crisis, their powers are unlocked.
timeline as I see it: Charles and Emily met in Seattle->met, married, had chris->Jefferson intices Emily to "model" for him then kills her->charles deals with the loss and his frustration with the ineptitude of the "professionals" handling his wife's disappearance by drinking then gets fired from his job thereby falling behind on his house payments and is forced to move to Beaver Creek Oregan that is my interpretation based on the 42:23 I have watched so far of your playthrough for the record I own this game and am having trouble finding the passcode for the phone I am hoping that you will lead me to it, its pobably somehere really simple that i have overlooked 1/2 a dozen times or more
My theory is that lis 2 is going to be about a group of friends, maybe the ones that you see at 10:00 Also I think Chris' friend Hal is going to be important, maybe even at the center of the story, specially because he was the only one of Chris' friends that was directly mentioned by him. However we know that he's not his neighbour, because Chris mentioned that he lives at the other side of the town. In the group, there will be also the kids next door, we don't know their names yet, but again probably they are in the list at 10:00 and the little kid with brown hair is going to have the powers, not Chris. And there's going to be a connection with the guy and the police man who died in Seattle. Maybe one of the two who died is a relative to one of the kids, and they got killed by the main antagonist of lis 2.
What if it wasn't Chris who used those powers at the end but instead was one of those boys who used them to save Chris from his fall? It's the only explanation that makes sense in my mind, after racking my brain and asking why it is that they felt it was necessary to show those two neighboring kids at the end.
Heroes and villians oft start out the same way. I think we just saw the origin story of a Life is Strange 2 antagonist. That sort of smile at the very end, sinister.

Finally got around to playing this so finally got around to watching your video... One thing that worried me was whether Chris would be as relatable as characters in the previous game because he's younger. I mean... I don't have a lot in common with Max/Chloe/Rachel, but it's difficult to remember what life with an actual kid was like whereas a lot of teenage memories and emotions stick in your head, so if LIS2 ends up being about kids of Chris's age it may be more difficult to get emotionally invested... which of course is one of the real strong points of LIS. However, I enjoyed playing this. I felt more of a third party than I did with Max or Chloe, but it's clear there's still going to be a few emotional knockouts in LIS2. And that end completely got me. There's a comment somewhere else here suggesting the kid next door will be the one with the powers, and I reckon that might be right - and LIS2 may be about the adventures both those kids go on together. I'd disagree about LIS as a franchise being "about teenage girls" or specifically LGBTQ though. It's a videogame series with a compelling storyline with unusual twists - it just happens that the characters in the first game and its prequel were about LGBTQ teenage girls. It made for a great story and some compelling character development, and it's certainly sad to let go of such great characters, but I'm really looking forward to a completely different story, new characters and a completely different angle to the relationships you form in LIS2.
There's nothing better to watch Aoife and Johnny playing LiS/CS (after the own playthrough of course). Really interesting what you theories you have or how you react. At the end it was definitely real because Max’s powers came out in a stressful life or death situation (obviously not the same for him but I mean, the fight, him falling(it can be like that to a kid)) so it is totally real powers

While it is true that Life Is Strange doesn't necessarily NEED a female protagonist, it is also true that the first two games had them -- and two LGBT protagonists no less -- making both a part of the series' identity for sizeable amount of people.
That's not say it's wrong to not mind about a shift in protagonists, but considering how under-represented both women and LGBT are as protagonists outside of player-created characters for RPGs, it also shouldn't be too difficult to understand why some may disappointed at this potential shift away.
Agreed. Life is Strange is a series about.. well.. Life and how strange it is. They shouldn't feel the need to repeat themselves time and time again, we can have all kinds of different protagonists and stories.

This game wasn't as heavy as Chloe's story but I still cried at the end man 💔. I'm hoping Chris runs away with the train hoppers and meets up with either Chloe or Max in LIS2. Something along those lines idk.
Definitely think the little boy at the end is the one with powers, and he saved Chris; I also assume that the desire to sing along to Frozen and have his Ice Queen doll is video-game-level hinting that Chris isn't straight (straight boys are welcome to love those things, but video games tend to do stereotypical associations pretty heavily), and I hope the non-white boy next door is LiS2's powered, not-straight, not-white protagonist :-)
(And I assume that it'll be them when they're older. I would love to have women as the protagonists, but if not, I'll take a non-white dude if they are canonically not-heteronormative!)

I think this demo was to showcase what Chris´ childhood was like, what his imagination was capable of. Her mother was an artist, she also enjoyed playing video games and creating interesting comicbook characters, so we know who Chris gets his imagination from. We will probably meet Chris all grown up in Life is Strange 2, probably teaching or working as an independent artist or something, taking care of his old grumpy drunk dad and maybe with teenager kids with powers of their own, who knows? Also, we can see throughout the demo that every time he used his powers he had the remote control behind his back or pulled off some kind of trick, but when he falls from the tree house and levitates, there´s no trick, that´s his actual power. He discovered his power when put in a dangerous situation, the same way Max did when put in the situation of the storm possibly destroying Arcadia Bay. Life is Strange 2 is gonna be a roller coaster of emotions. Can't wait! I wouldn't mind playing with little Chris again, won't you guys miss him? I feel like he's my fictional son that I gotta take care of. Haha!
Not sure if anyone ellse has said this, but I think it's interesting that the guy who voiced Mantroid and the Bava's pizza man were the same guy, so I'm guessing the mom died going to get some pizza on the corner of Mantel and Asteroid, or the man is the killer himself. Also, Odessa is a person on a phone sex line. You find the number if you go to Dad's room and put his pants in the wash before you turn the machine on. Also, when I called the Reynold's house when I played through the game, I got a weird garbled sound on the other line, and was wondering if anyone else got it, and if they did if the could explain what that was about?
Edit: I also noticed the idea of "Death With Dignity" has been displayed throughout the LiS universe before like when (Original LiS SPOILER) in the original LiS in the alternate timeline, Chloe wanted to die this way by Max's doing instead of deteriorating slowly since she was incurable. Even Chris's treatment of Snowmancer can be characterized as a "death with dignity" since you have to "rebuild" Snowmancer before you destroy him, defeating him in his top condition instead of beating him while he is down. This was just a random thought bye : )
I believe that Chris's story will continue with him being the same age. At least at first. I think the story will have him finding his mom's killer. The hints that were given make me think that. And that he has powers he might use them to find clues. He might age or remain a kid. Doesn't matter to me. Look at walking dead season 2. Clem had to grow up fast and survive a harsh world of unimaginable chaos. Chris might have fun at first with his powers, but might have to tackle serious situations that force him to mature quickly.

If it's the same as Captain Spirit, about two brothers, and they've said that it's not the last time we'll see powers. The two characters at the very end are the most likely candidates.
If Captain Spirit took place after LIS 1, there would be at least a reference to Mark Jefferson's Arrestment. The end of the LIS 1 is two different choices which the creators didn't wanted to canonize in LIS 2, but either way, in both endings, Jefferson is arrested. He was a very popular photographer, even after some years, people would still talk about it. I believe Chris is going to be the protagonist or one of the support characters of the LIS 2, which shall take place at least 7 years after the events of CS.

Some of the decisions are supposed to be directly related to LiS 2, so I think that the protagonist of season 2 is going to be an older Chris, at least I hope so. I'd like to see how Chris develops into adolescence and if he becomes an angry teen

So, i know one thing - i don't want Season 2 to have Max as main character - don't get me wrong, i love her and Chloe, but their story is closed for me and I want to let Chloe sleep... Dammit I'm not crying, you are crying! Honestly I didn't even play Before the Storm for the same reason. It is just too emotional for me to go back. So I'm sure there will be some connection with seasson one, but i want different story with different characters. It can be boy :-) But not that young. Maybe he will be side character.
it wont be max , my guess is that it will be one of the two boys at the end , and one of them have the power to levitate/telekinesis and saved chris at the end , which would make alot of sense since they doesn't look shocked to see a boy levitate and it said to be continued

My take on this, is that this can be seen as a spin-off from LIS 2, introducing the powers of the kid(s) at the end, who will be the protagonists.
And the kids waving at the end totally reminded me of the closing scene in Donnie Darko for some reason, because it's not just a wave... or was it?

It was excruciating watching Aoife the Completionist walk DIRECTLY past the height chart in Chris’ dad’s room that had the code for his phone on it.
The kid next door is the one with the powers. Max found out what she was capable of when she saw Chloe in danger on the school bathroom. This time, the kid next door saw what was about to happen and had to save him from a terrible accident. We will see a new strong friendship evolve throughout the game.
I love eurogamer so much specially their affection to the Life is strange. Only thing tho, I wish you guys played in the TV room while Dad was awake, you would have seen the Dad's reaction to Chris.
With all the Beaver jokes Johnny was making I was half expecting him to suggest that Chris' dad gets his whiskey from Beaver Liquors.
I never understood why people had such a hard time finding the eggs in the original. But here it took me 20 minutes to find the garage key because I just didn't check the wall above eye level.

Watching this gameplay, the song Above the Clouds of Pompeii by Bear's Den came to mind. It's a beautiful song, yet quite sad as well. It's a son talking to his father about coping with his mother's death (that's how I interpreted it anyway). Give it a listen, I think you'd like it.
Loved this play through:) I think the powers at the end is real. It reminds me a lot of when Max first gets her powers in that it was a super stressful emotional moment that sorta caused her time travel powers to kick in. This is a very emotional stressful moment for Chris. Maybe the LIS universe is filled with a few special people that in moments of crisis, their powers are unlocked.

timeline as I see it: Charles and Emily met in Seattle->met, married, had chris->Jefferson intices Emily to "model" for him then kills her->charles deals with the loss and his frustration with the ineptitude of the "professionals" handling his wife's disappearance by drinking then gets fired from his job thereby falling behind on his house payments and is forced to move to Beaver Creek Oregan that is my interpretation based on the 42:23 I have watched so far of your playthrough for the record I own this game and am having trouble finding the passcode for the phone I am hoping that you will lead me to it, its pobably somehere really simple that i have overlooked 1/2 a dozen times or more

I wonder if there are gonna be multiple protagonists and maybe their lives all connect somehow...
My theory is that lis 2 is going to be about a group of friends, maybe the ones that you see at 10:00
Also I think Chris' friend Hal is going to be important, maybe even at the center of the story, specially because he was the only one of Chris' friends that was directly mentioned by him. However we know that he's not his neighbour, because Chris mentioned that he lives at the other side of the town.
In the group, there will be also the kids next door, we don't know their names yet, but again probably they are in the list at 10:00 and the little kid with brown hair is going to have the powers, not Chris.
And there's going to be a connection with the guy and the police man who died in Seattle.
Maybe one of the two who died is a relative to one of the kids, and they got killed by the main antagonist of lis 2.
What if it wasn't Chris who used those powers at the end but instead was one of those boys who used them to save Chris from his fall? It's the only explanation that makes sense in my mind, after racking my brain and asking why it is that they felt it was necessary to show those two neighboring kids at the end.
Heroes and villians oft start out the same way. I think we just saw the origin story of a Life is Strange 2 antagonist. That sort of smile at the very end, sinister.

Finally got around to playing this so finally got around to watching your video...
One thing that worried me was whether Chris would be as relatable as characters in the previous game because he's younger. I mean... I don't have a lot in common with Max/Chloe/Rachel, but it's difficult to remember what life with an actual kid was like whereas a lot of teenage memories and emotions stick in your head, so if LIS2 ends up being about kids of Chris's age it may be more difficult to get emotionally invested... which of course is one of the real strong points of LIS.
However, I enjoyed playing this. I felt more of a third party than I did with Max or Chloe, but it's clear there's still going to be a few emotional knockouts in LIS2. And that end completely got me. There's a comment somewhere else here suggesting the kid next door will be the one with the powers, and I reckon that might be right - and LIS2 may be about the adventures both those kids go on together.
I'd disagree about LIS as a franchise being "about teenage girls" or specifically LGBTQ though. It's a videogame series with a compelling storyline with unusual twists - it just happens that the characters in the first game and its prequel were about LGBTQ teenage girls. It made for a great story and some compelling character development, and it's certainly sad to let go of such great characters, but I'm really looking forward to a completely different story, new characters and a completely different angle to the relationships you form in LIS2.

At the end it was definitely real because Max’s powers came out in a stressful life or death situation (obviously not the same for him but I mean, the fight, him falling(it can be like that to a kid)) so it is totally real powers
