Our first family car. Glad to be the first owner of Suzuki XL7 Hybrid here in Nueva Ecija.
To clarify things: "The Department of Energy classifies a "Hybrid Electric Vehicle" as being powered by both an internal combustion engine (ICE) and a rechargeable energy source, a.k.a. a battery and an electric motor, upon which both powerplants SHOULD propel the vehicle independently." Meaning it should be able to drive the vehicle using electric power alone in full EV mode, no matter the range the battery can provide. This should eliminate the "loopholes" that some manufacturers try to cheat on, like the Okavango, the Ertiga and this XL7 among others, and prevent cheeky motorists slapping "Hybrid" badges on their ICE cars to confuse authorities.
In contrast, take the new Xpander HEV as an example since both are competing in the MPV category. Whereas the ISG in the Suzuki's only deliver 1.77 kW (about 2.3 hp) and only "assists" the gas engine, the Xpander HEV's hybrid system has a full-fledged electric motor which, surprisingly delivers more horsepower than its 1.6 L gas engine: 85 kW (114 hp) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft) to be exact versus 70kW (94 hp) and 134 Nm (98.8 lb-ft) respectively, making it a full hybrid vehicle. That's more than enough to not only qualify it under DOE's requirements, but depending on the level of charge, it can drive itself on full EV mode unlike the former vehicles mentioned.
So, before you decide to buy a hybrid and benefit on the "Number Coding Exemption", make sure the vehicle is eligible first and consult DOE's list of qualified vehicles.
My sentiment exactly. People are actually getting away with fake hybrid badges and fake hybrid plates. I wonder if MMDA & LTO people on the field know better than to fall for this. To me it looks like ther the MMDA personnel aren’t informed enough to sanction fines on these motorists, or these cheeky motorists know someone who can pull the strings to let them get away with it.
@@lostwanderingdrifter Honestly, I suspect this scenario to be happening already. It's too easy as well to "fake-badge" a specific car to a hybrid. Toyota Corollas have both ICE and Hybrid models, so to are Hondas. But this is the Philippines, unfortunately. If it's too easy to bribe an enforcer for speeding, what more this? I agree, the LTO and MMDA assigned on the field should know better, but they also should be knowledgeable with cars to begin with aside from being informed of this law's details, solely relying on lists can confuse them. That should help them identify which car is which, and hopefully this law doesn't get abused.
Had a conversation with someone who insists his mild hybrid Mazda is exempted sa coding. Tried everything to convince him it's not exempted pero sarado utak kasi naniwala sa sales agent 😅
@@TheBlueFernando Good luck to him come renewal of registration time. Tapos magsisisihan sila ng sales agent niya. SMH
@@TheBlueFernando the DOE actually released a defunitive list a google search away. I guess they just want it to be that way regardless if it’s true or not.
got this march 25 ,2024 very nice two tone color. The front grille is samurai inspired.
Yes thank you sir caco ito talaga ang inaantay ko sana my comparison in other 7 seaters thank you
Ah yes nice grille and paint. Legit Xpander cross competitor
Finnallyy been waiting for this 😂
How is the xl7 vs the king stargazer x?
Waiting for this ! ! !
If you want maximum fuel efficiency, get the Ertiga Hybrid. If you want maximum savings, get the Ertiga Hybrid GL (not the GLX or XL7). You will lose some of the features but it more than makes up for it in terms of fuel efficiency and monthly savings on your payment. And just having a simple, reliable car.
If you want a bit more with all the bells and whistles, then get the Ertiga GLX or XL7. Can't go wrong with any of these. Mind you, space inside is EXACTLY the same on these three. Just a matter of preference sa looks na lang.
Looks nice.
2024 brv with honda sensing or new xl7?
I love my Suzuki xl7😊
Just a reminder if you're buying this expecting to be exempted from coding, it is NOT INCLUDED in the list published by DOE.
Agree, hope this info reaches everyone that's considering purchasing this car.
Well regardless it will still be fuel efficient
Why is it not included in the list?
I remember the okavango was also mild hybrid and it is not included in the list DOE the electric motor is for acceleration.
in philippines xl7 hybrid is it just launching?
Have hints of previous gen CR-V on that revised front grill.
the transition in 2:32 is *chef's kiss*
sir can you please review the 2024 Honda CRV VX variant.
Please do comparo of all the hatchbacks for us who cant afford a suv😢..... hows jack health by the way
Can u review the CRV RS 😊
Long last comparo for the hybrids and fuel effeciancy. Kudos to auto deal
Make it happen Autodeal!
These is new Ertiga?
in indonesia, we dont get the audio head with Android auto/apple carplay capability, it is nice to see XL7 with that feature.
Watching from India. Paare Your videos are informative and entertaining as before. Hybrid is the future. Friendly on wallet yet never short of adventures. Keep it up bro.
Mikos2x lang yan insan
Caco looks like he has been hitting the gym hard Or is it just the shirt? Anyway, I thought this car is going to be expensive since Caco didn't mention it right away. I can't wait for the extensive review!
Hopefully the next model will be adaptive cruise control.
just got mine last week. oh, what a dope!
same body as BRV. whats best?
hmm battery replacement cost?
i like rhe color
How’s Jack btw? I hope he’s recovering alright.
Conventional A/T ba transmission niyan?
I hope they released a MT on it
I just brought the same color variant here in Baguio, coming from Cainta. Full tank in Cainta, then arrived at Baguio covering 267km with more than 50% fuel left.
What color is this?
Is the power sufficient for baguio/ benguet roads?
malamig po ba aircon?
@@jen8784 Savannah Ivory Metallic, same as the test unit sir Caco used.
@@jaypsocampo5191 Yes sir! Ilang beses na ginamit with full pax, no problem. You just need to shift it to 2 or L sometimes pag feeling mo matagal magshift to low gear. Big help din Yung electric motor.
whats mild hybrid po ?
Expensive for that price...sana matipid na siya kasi hybrid😜
whats new in the 2024 version:
minor facelift + mild hybrid @ 1.2m
I think its better than the competition
but shouldn't be called a hybrid with only that much power from the e-motor (barely noticeable)
also the added complexity on the maintenance side is kinda a disadvantage
Hello! Since this is an impression pa of the XL7, I hope on your actual review eh ma discuss nyo kung effective ba talaga na exempted to sa coding since mild hybrid lang to like the new Ertiga. We need clarifications about this and hopefully we can hear it from you po. Thanks and more power! ❤️
No it's not.
It won't be exempted. DOE clarifies its requirements for a "hybrid vehicle", in that the electric motor should be able to propel the vehicle by itself without any assistance from the gas engine. This clearly doesn't do that as mentioned as well by Caco.
We asked a dealer a few weeks back. They said they already have papers that the xl7 is considered a hybrid and therefore exempted. They are waiting approval now for the new Ertiga hybrid.
Caco casually bringing out the guns!
Question ❓
Besides this creamy white and black top finish? Ano ano pa iyong mga two tone colors niya?
O and by the way,.I also can't wait for the proper review 👍😉👍
othr one is orange with black top
suzuki is using tried and tested aisin 4 speed transmission. I hope suzuki will update the transmission to 5 or 6 speed for better fuel economy
how much is the replacement battery
We won't know exactly how much unless you ask the dealer itself, they do not state the prices anywhere since it is a replacement part.
@@iamjames006 which is why im asking Autodeal as they should easily get this info from their contacts in suzuki instead of me relying on a sales agent's word who's main initiative is to sell me their wares.
MG One please 🥺
I hope this is included to the number coding exemption the same as the ertiga but sadly it does not
I'm still confused kung paano nakalusot yung Ertiga 🤔
Top speed and 0. To 100?
Maybe a video about the best cars for a couple starting in life? Thanks man
103 HP.... hmmmm why can't they make all these MPV 7seater engines atleast on the 120s HP with additional torque. Just asking btw.
BRV has the same fuel economy without the hybrid gimmick
A big factor would probably be its CVT tranny, which, by the way, is executed well.
Question
San yung pinagshootingan nila?
pico de loro
Same like ertiga hybrid
As per AutoDeal tradition for Suzuki, what kind of road trip would you guys be taking the XL7 into?
Definitely looking forward to it whatever it is! 😄😄
Hybrid Swift nalang!
ERTIGA VS XL7 HYBVRID PLEASE 🥺
I like the intro ( THE LAST THING ) Sounds like chipmunks,,,
high pitch caco
The problem on this car is the placement of headunit between aircon vents, however you turn away the aircon it still target your face or arm. Which is very annoying especially in long drive
I'm still waiting for the Hybrid XPander release here in the PH. Much better hybrid than this one.
up
why do we have a hybrid ertiga and a hybrid xl7, how would I choose one over the other?
Choose xl7
XL7 mas pogi
Is this coding exempted in future?
Absolutely NO
Subaru is that you?
xL7 hybrid is the only hybrid car who's not number conding free
Please launch it in India 🇮🇳
Pansin ko lang hindi sinasali ang Suzuki XL7 sa mga comparo against Veloz, Xpander Cross, BR-V, and Stargazer X.
Onti palang review kasi.
polo shirt is better😂😂😂
"Mild" hybrid
why do they black gloss the back part? itwll look the car smaller and hobbit
Mild hybrids.
first
meh.. PHEV must be the standard with 100km minimum range.
You speak too fast in this review. I thought i pressed fast forward
Mild hybrid😅
Ano ba yan.
Still still still a big disappointment in terms of power and engine displacement
Lol it has that little Jimny engine and trany 😂
Its a fake hybrid
No its NOT, it is an absolutely a hybrid car, a mild hybrid car..
@@coupleadventure yes Mild hybrid is fake hybrid.
barely does anything to fuel consumption numbers.
no EV mode etc no code exeption ,. none of the benefits of a true hybrid car
its just a marketing scheme so that they can put the word hybrid on the car . and lure in less informed consumers
thinking they are getting mostly the same thing as buying a true hybrid like the Corolla Cross HEV.
but in truth they are not
@@venielbretana8240 it seems like you don't understand the word HYBRID and how a hybrid works in a different mode at all.. my bad.. 😔
Kung China gumawa nyan, baka posible nga yang sinasabi mo 😂
@@coupleadventure i know how it works
fake hybrid is the terms commonly used for those who are informed when referring to mild hybrid cars. as they are not even close to actual HEV cars . and its impractical. they just do it for advertisement wise . because some consumers dont know a mild hybrid is a fake hybrid. you wont be getting the fuel efficiency you get from an actual HEV .
sa wakas mababawasan na ang mga naka-xpander...
If ang habol mo is fuel efficency, hindi to makakasabay sa Xpander HEV.
It will take some sales off the xpander but not gonna oust it, mataas resell value ng xpanfer
People have forgotten that the main purpose of a hybrid or mild hybrid system is to maximize the fuel efficiency of a vehicle. Not to be exempt from number coding. Not everyone lives in Metro Manila to enjoy the coding exemption for hybrid vehicles
That is the main purpose of making these ICE vehicles into a hybrid, especially in the most contested MPV segment: very fuel efficient and affordable vehicles sell like hotcakes. Whether the manufacturer excels or fails in that aspect, you be the judge. But the fact that a lot of car buyers are beginning to get comfortable buying HEVs right now compared to last few years is directly because of this benefit by the new EVIDA Law, because majority of buyers are STILL in the Metro Manila area, wanting to save every ounce of fuel that's otherwise wasted on gridlock traffic, so disregarding that matter here just doesn't work. The comment section alone is evident of that. If you're in a province with the least amount of traffic (if that fever dream even exists), then good for you. Otherwise, you better be lucky to book a Grab because you can't use your car under coding.
Still 4 speed. Tsk3.
