And it's bloody cold in the north as well, so often these little villages will be nestled in little valleys or along the slopes to protect from that bitter wind. Except Maisie made it sound like a minor traffic obstruction/weird hip dip reference for some reason, so obviously it becomes a free-for-all running joke for the rest of the show
We did weird things with our hair during the pandemic. I let my hair grow out for about 15 months (long story), but it was getting in my eyes so I trimmed the front and realized I'd almost perfectly recreated Paul McCartney's 1975 mullet.
Maisie is just another of these not really very talented people with a regional accent who have, inexplicably, ‘made it’. For me, she is consistently unfunny, lacking wit, and, actually one wonders if ‘comedian’ is actually her job. She’s on ‘Mock the Week’, as we speak, and she’s unspeakably weak; everyone else is carrying her.
Like her or not, but she's got good chemistry with other panelists. I've never seen her solo standup (other than the wheel of news on mtw), but on a panel she works really well. Over the years mtw has had some guests who barely spoke throughout the episode and when they did they got some mild smirks at best. A lot of them could be edited out of their episodes and nothing of value would be lost. Maisie isn't one of them. Call it "everyone else carrying her", but even if she just causes a funny conversation to start among other panelists, for me that makes a good show.
@@lcstark Hmmm … not sure about any of that, mate. For me, an essential part of the comedian’s job description is to say funny stuff. Hugh does this all the time on MTW; Frankie Boyle used to do it all the time on the same show. I’ve seen her on other panel shows and she’s always the same: clearly a very lovely person, but crushingly, staggeringly unfunny.
You can tell that they all love Maisie by the way in which they circle back to her.
