It seems the moles react to being defeated by snapping to the next nearest hole (notice how the second mole spawns immediately when the first mole is attacked) and with no hole in range it gets stuck waiting for, to use an abstract metaphor, 1 = 3 to return true.
Interesting learning how the game functions outside of what we see. Also I appreciate how you give credit to the other people who have also done research! Was fun to watch, aside from the poor doors! Haha
This is what March 2021 is gonna be like for Mario, basic objects like doors won't function, his games will keep crashing, everything's gonna be exploding...

This isn't Wing Mario Over the Rainbow.
The worst is easily dire dire docks. It’s so lacking in memorability that I often forget that it exists when I think of the courses. Whenever I enter the 30 star door I’m always surprised to find a course there. It’s bland and always a low point.

Lmao, there thought there was oil in the pit and could smell gas so they were like "Aman, what should we do? " I know Murgen, we light it on fire!" And so the pit burned ever since.

That's assuming that the gas in hazy maze cave is flammable with proper air mixtures. But I'm pretty sure there are torches here or there in the map but perhaps not in that section of the map.

We'll, Mario 64 was written in C++ after all, and could definitely see a situation where the Bomb-omb object tries to interact with Monty mole object before he was created in memory, a race condition that leads to accessing a null pointer, and ultimately a crash. Always check for null!!!

It still makes sense for a 1000 Bob-ombs to be in Bob-Omb Battlefield!
Kind of want to see the wiggler staff filled with babombs now. Probably would work as the best screensaver ever (if it could be made possible).
But Bo-bomb battlefield is called bo-bomb battlefield, I think it makes more sense to have a battlefield filled with bo-bomb enemies if you're able to. I feel like for Hazy maze cave it should make it hard to see or control your character like you're poisoned. I still like both the videos, I just think it was a missed opportunity to not have the King protected by his own people
Hazy Maze Cave was and still is one of my least favorite levels from the game

TL;DR: Bob-ombs start an infinite chain reaction of explosions, overload of bob-ombs and explosions prevents other objects like doors from working because the game focuses more on those objects due to a set Interaction Limit (when exceeded, yields all interactions and waits for it to drop down to it's limit), therefore certain necessary parts of Hazy Maze cannot be accessed.
Hazy Maze Cave cannot be beat with a swarm of bombs because they seal the doors shut and prevent Mario from advancing.
Oh, and they KO Monty Moles before they can even spawn, which wasn't thought of during development and breaks the game.
Edit: oh they just removed the door. well im not deleting this, i spent a long while on it

Come to think of it, Hazy Maze Cave does seem more like an ideal for Ba-Bombs to set off the gas and blow the whole place up. I originally found to be a confusing, precarious and long-winded hell hole anyway.
The one dislike is from a Monty Mole that didn't get to enjoy the fireworks

There were only 2 stars that were actually easy to get in Hazy Maze Cave: Swimming Beast in the Cavern, and the Metal Cap Course 8-red coins.

It’s probably not that the Bob-Ombs are inactive beyond the door per se; it’s been demonstrated that when you’re in a small distance of the door, objects are active in both rooms (using a Scatterbug).
