  • Installation of the Virpil Collective Counter Balance Kit which allows backing off the friction to make it silky smooth while still holding position and demonstration of the adjustable spring tension when swapping between the lighter Black-60 grip and the new Apache AH-64 grip.
    I was directed to the instructions on the 2nd page of Accessory User Manuals

    Great video, it’s much better than the official video released by Virpil themselves. With all being said and done, this is THE SINGLE worst thing I’ve ever had to assemble (I’m referring to attaching it to Virpils chair mount) & I’ve assembled a lot of IKEA furniture. It’s truly horrendous, however once you’ve managed to make it through the ordeal, it’s a fantastic product that works amazingly well.

    I entered the spirit world and talked to both Einstein and Hawking and they both agreed that Virpil's instructions sucked beyond the realm of possibility. I figured it out by NOT following the instructions. What a PITA!

      I designed and 3D printed it. You can get the free STL file here.

      @@swordfish72 I think I probably should make a video just showing my Virpil quick release mounts for the flight stick, throttle and collective.

    Did you have to move it backward on your rig or did the first grip line up where your Hawk Grip was?

    • @markkovalcson7243
      @markkovalcson7243  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had to move the mount back a chunk to have clearance with my vertical uprights for my wheelbase. However that is a physical constraint of my rig. I've asked a real AH-64 pilot whether the rear grip is the normal flying grip. If it is, you may not need to move the mount assuming that you have clearance on your rig for the collective grip to extend further forward.
      My seat is on sliders, but I just move my seat to the point where my full length stick can pull back without seat interference. My seat has no notch in it. My stick used to be attached to the seat like my Throttle is. If I still had that configuration, I could just slide my seat to the best position to match where I should line up on the collective. My flight pedals could slide to match.

      Perfect, thank you. I have the clearance, I was wondering which is the flying grip as well. @@markkovalcson7243

      I just heard back and it turns out that the rear grip is the flight grip, so you should not need to move your mount if you do not have interference.

      Here is a complete description that I should have watched all the way through. It answers this question in terms of calling the rear grip the flight grip.

      @@markkovalcson7243yes bro and kudos to you for that but the instructions are, well bad!! To make such nice gaming gear and Virpil definitely is! Then make instructions that are just as nice. Your video and the first YOU showed how to put it on!! Ok rant over and thank you!!!!

      There are instructions on their website like for every other product they make. This guy decided to just not follow them at all which is very odd.

      @markkovalcson7243  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@haaake This guy is me. I didn't find the instructions until I was pointed to them later. Unlike my other Virpil products that had a link to documentation directly off the product page, this didn't have that. I wrongly assumed that they didn't have instructions.
      If you go to support, documentation and look under accessories and see the 2nd page link, you will find the instructions for the counter balance kit.
      I did include a link to the instructions in the text section of this video shortly after publishing it.
