First of the comedian's three appearances on the Show during 1966, then two more would come in April and October (both already published on the channel). At that time his career was already in sharp decline. I wonder why we generally tend to underestimate the art of making people laugh, of creating humor, at least in relation to other expressive forms such as dramatic art, whose performers tend to have greater social or even professional consideration. What would any society be without all those who promote the catharsis of their fears, demons and contradictions through humor as personal and collective therapy, as the healthy ability to laugh at oneself, either individually or as a group? Can we imagine the world without the legacy of characters like Chaplin, Lloyd, Keaton, the Marxs, Laurel & Hardy o Abbot & Costello, to name just a few of the most classic? Well, Sherman also earned his small place in the history of that legacy.
Sorry to hear it, but on the bright side not only can you sometimes find the actual vinyl in Thrift shops, but you also can get a pretty comprehensive CD collection of his work - _My Son, The Box_ .
I chuckled at "Old Lang's Sign". 😁
I loved his humor as a boy, still do.
Cool! Now I gotta go find my Allan Sherman album...
Really nice voice... just plain good humor! 😄
Happy Tuesday.... thank you for sharing! 💖
You know you’re funny when you make Ed laugh
SO COOOOOOL 🥰🥰🥰
Growing up we had several of his albums. My friends didn’t get it. Might have been since I was from New York and we were in Massachusetts.
You'll need to find a different explanation, because I grew up in Texas, and our whole family loved him. So did everyone else I played his music for.
