This was easily the highlight of Christmas that year. I was 7 years old and I was so excited to get this set. Like what kid wouldn’t want this set? It was a spaceship, it had a bunch of moving parts and it had a bunch of minifigs.
Such a nice set! It's interesting to see older sets from 70s and 80s, but sets from 90s just appeal to nostalgia, I remember my childhood then I saw it in catalog, Its bring out such memories!
Have you tried retrobrighting your yellowed parts? You put them in hydrogen peroxide and leave them (counterintuitively) out in the sun. It's worked well for me, you might want to give it a try.
Nice suggestion! I used Hydrogen Peroxide 3% in a transparent container with light on and that worked well. But as I say in the video I only noticed it when building that there was gradation. This is simply due to the fact that there was also gradation on the original yellowed ones. So I actually had to soak the least damaged ones for 24 hours, and let the more damaged ones soak for much longer, but I didn't do that. I didn't want to wait any longer because I wanted to record the video. :-) But now I can do the process again and let soak them again for a while. Thanks for your comment!
yes, at the end I actually didn't mention that anymore because I had already mentioned it with the space shuttle. I personally find it worse wiht the doors of the space shuttle, because if you loosen the top brick, the two parts fold together and the stickers tear. With the one at 11:04 you basically don't have to separate those three bricks once they have a sticker. But then you can of course no longer use them for alternative buildings. That's how it was done back in the day and for the entire period of my collection! :-)
