- President Biden spoke Monday at the Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Library honoring the 60th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act. The president slammed recent Supreme Court rulings and unveiled his new reform proposal. This included calling for term limits for the high court.

Why can't we get term limits and age limits for every elected office in America?! Why do we have life long politicians that all miraculously become rich?!
There is a value to keeping experienced public servants who actually know how to govern. The voters are supposed to be the ones who "fire" Congressional representatives who can't do the job anymore. However, a democracy depends upon an informed citizenry. Years of starving public schools and failure to prioritize civics and accurate history instruction has denied voters the critical foundation they need to take voting responsibilities seriously.
Governing is an actual job, and not everyone is good at it. Experience is a good thing. Voters decide when it's time to go.
I recall Bernie Sanders was on this kick a few years ago.
Then it got turned around on him to ok, we can agree on term limits. Congress and Senate as well.
Then he got quiet real fast because many of those professional politicians would be out including himself.
Let’s go with the term limits.
5 terms in congress, 2 terms in senate.
Age limits as well. Over 70 and no longer eligible to run. That would clear out the old age home in the senate and congress.

Neither the president nor Congress are granted the authority to independently correct or alter the Constitution however there is a remedy in that inspired document already it's in article 5 he needs to call for a constitutional convention

Sadly, there are many people who are stupid enough to actually believe that this was a 'thing' and he could get it through Congress. In any event, even if he DID, it would still take years as it would require a constitutional amendment and the individual state legislatures would have to vote on it after Congress proposed the amendment. If the states called a constitutional convention in lieu of the legislature voting, it would take even longer.
It is important to get this SCOTUS amendment drafted and get the conversation started. Ratification requires 38 states, not easy but not impossible. Let's get the process started; Speaker Jefferies is on the horizon!!
We are very overdue for new amendments to our Constitution. The amendment that granted voting rights to 18 year olds was ratified in approximately four months. Let's get this done! Then we can move on to other needed amendments, especially an amendment that enshrines a right to public safety in the Constitution, as a much needed balance to the often misinterpreted second amendment. And let's take another look at the ERA as a way of protecting all of a woman's human rights, especially reproductive healthcare. Go President Biden go! Go Constitution go! 💙🌊💙🌊

I think we were spoiled as a nation that we enjoyed so many decades of solid SCOTUS interpretation and opinions. Because of this current SCOTUS reliance on so-called textualism, however, now the honeymoon is over.
They simply seem to say, "Well, this concept was not written into the Constitution by the framers in the 1700s, so we strike it down.". Strangely, textualism didn't seem to apply when they were reviewing the 14th amendment and its provisions for keeping insurrectionists off the ballot. And when they needed to completely fabricate a king-like immunity for presidents that can be found nowhere in our founding documents, again the lack of textualism was not a problem for the majority. So I guess they are textualists until they are not?
So if everything has to be written into the Constitution, amendments are the way to survive this SCOTUS until some retirements or some reform creates some shifts. The amendment to make it clear that presidents are not immune is the first order of business. If the SCOTUS is confused about how to apply the right to privacy to the modern realities of marriage equality and reproductive healthcare, then we will have to spell it out for them in an amendment. We could probably use most of the ERA, but explicitly add the right to privacy in medical decisions, and mention contraception, miscarriage treatment, followup care for incest and rape, and abortion. The marriage equality piece could be a separate amendment, again connected to the right to privacy as in the current controlling opinions, but this time adding explicit language about marriage equality, mixed race marriage, and same sex marriage.
Then we need to move on to drafting a new amendment to protect public safety, by being explicit about what national gun safety regulations need to look like. Misinterpretations of the second amendment are multiplying, and it's clear that we cannot continue this carnage of daily gun violence. The second amendment can remain, but a new amendment needs to provide balance to protect innocent school children, shoppers, worshippers, etc. "Shall not be infringed" is not solving anything. Guns cannot continue to have more rights than innocent people.
We have a lot of work to do. Let's get busy. 💙🌊⚖️💙🌊

As far as immunity, the SC sad that the way to get rid of the President is s have Congress impeach him. Their ruling made it harder to go after ANY President in made up trials like the document trial or the one where the jury is instructed to just guess if he's guilty of something that the prosecutor can't even put into words, or even describe the crime he might be guilty of.
Overturning roe v Wade just gave the power back to the states, ending the federal laws. Like the constitution was set up to be. State power above the federal government. There are plenty of states that women can still get an abortion.
As far as gun control, the reason schools and the like are targeted is because they are gun free zones. Do you think criminals are going to follow any laws regarding gun control? Any measures you create to stop criminals getting guns, is only going to punish law abiding citizens and destroy their safety. Evil people exist and no amount of laws or regulations are going to stop that. Look at the UKs stance on knives to figure that out.

Neither the Executive branch nor the Legislative branch have the power to regulate the co-equal Judicial branch. This requires an amendment ratified by the states.

The people DOESN'T vote for these justices. There definitely should be term limits. What we need is to vote for the Supreme Court Justices as well as term limits.
The Conservative Justices said one thing at their hearings, promising to uphold settled precedents, but IGNORED precedents AFTER lying during their interviews. Then there's the bribes... Kavanaugh had his gambling debt and mortgage paid off 1 year prior to his nomination and the billionaire supporting Thomas with lavish vacations snd kickbacks. Then there's Alito's spouse flying insurrectionist flags, and Thomas' spouse was ACTIVELY involved in the Jan 6th Insurrection. Finally, the sexual allegation against Thomas and Kavanaugh was not thoroughly investigated. If the people vote, we wouldn't vote for them.
Voting for these justices, term limits and a code of conduct would be good. Apparently, we have a code of conduct for all justices but the Supreme Court Justices because they INTERPRETED our laws to mean that they DON'T apply to them.
I have no confidence that the current electorate has the civics and history knowledge, plus the critical thinking skills, to elect supreme court justices. Look at what has happened to the GOP House. Luckily, Speaker Jefferies is coming soon to steer the ship to safer harbors.
Stop starving public schools and restore civics education. Create an accurate history curriculum for all states. Democracy depends upon an informed citizenry, and I'm not sure we truly have that right now in every state. We probably need to rethink this state to state education system, because some of the gaps in knowledge and skills are alarming.

When meeting someone new I like to begin with. I'm so old I remember . . .Joe is correct. In my case I was home for an early weekend and was making a lemon meringue pie when a bulletin cameacross radio CBS. Put tv on butall stations were showing regular programing. I thought what's going on and then Uncle Walter came on barely able to contain himself. Jack and LBJ may have had their faults but they would never would have sunk themselves and the Supreme Court to such a despicable low.
