    To test power supplies and other electronic devices connected to 230v, ALWAYS USE A SERIAL BULB 100 OR 150W, so in the event of a short circuit, the bulb will illuminate, saving the fuse and other electronic components.

      Believe me he knows , just he like to make us to think we are smarter than him. He is an old smarter dog, and a really good teacher. At least for me.

    • @mikanikolic1976

      the bulb prevents the fuse from burning in the shop and not in the device. i think.

    • @1matejus
      @1matejus 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikanikolic1976 You are wrong, connect the phase (L) wire of the network to the first contact of the lamp, the second contact of the lamp to the phase of the power supply you are testing, and the second contact zero (N) of the power supply to zero (N) network
      This applies to testing for small currents of electronic devices.
      The full brightness of the bulb means a short circuit on the circuit
      Illuminates and goes out or illuminates minimally means that the circuit is o.k (depending on the power of the Bulb)

    Next time use a 75/100watts bulb before replacing the fuse for sorted power supply circuit. The bulb will light up instead of blowing the fuse, and if it won't come on or goes dim that means no sort and there after you can replace a fuse.

    HI, Sorin, hope you will read this comment. Just wanted to add suggestion, when it comes to smps - psu, maybe can make it easier. I use incandescent light bulb, 60-75W, in series with ac power supply, so when it comes to a short on a board like in this yours case, fuse doesen't blow, but lightbulb shines brighter, so you quickly shut it down, as apparently something is wrong. If everything is ok, the bulb will flash, and dim down, as when connected, in-rush current from cappacitor charging is pulling some amps causing bright bulb for a second, and as it's charged, current drops to nearly zero, bulb dims, as you, of course know.. When that is the case, I use switch paralel to bulb, to allow device to draw current as much as it needs, and as final test, that there is no short. Also, i have remote momentary switch paralel with normal switch, it's wired to a relay in the plug box, that is responsible for powering psu over bulb.. Poent is, you could save gretz, and that highly over priced brand name fuses that you use ;)
    I suggest you make one of these, its good visual indicator if the device is drawing curent, or trying to charge cap, or by blinking telling you that it needs more amps to power up.. It's so simple device, yet it gives so many visual informations. I'm sure you already knew this, and you have your own ways, some of them wich I addopted, and I am thankful for all the knowledge you are sharing, I have learnd more than few tips and tricks. Love your channel, keep up the good work! If you wanna see what device with bulb that I made in 15 mins, you can watch one of my promo videos th-cam.com/video/azMuK0o6n98/w-d-xo.html, Imknow you understand serbian, but you'll visualy get ahold :). Best of all is that circuit brakers do not have to pop with this methos. At least, not always :) Best wishes from Serbia :)

    Sorin, nice to see you back, and i hope you get to read my. Comment, can you pls make a video, on how. To modify a Power Supply - on how to remove the Protective security feature. Or even probably, if possible to put up a power switch - just to turn it off and back on, when needed. Because most of the PS in the market today has these protection. And each and everytime i see yours, i cant help it but ask you this favor. Thank you and if its not to much to ask, Give me a shout out. It will be a big help for me and my repair shop business. Thanks. PHILIPPINES.

    In my reality: Like, you, I also forget to write down the chip number before releasing the magic smoke - but a hole is blown in the top of the chip so can no longer read it. I've since learned to identify the parts before breaking them. ;-) Last week I was working on a Sony Soundbar that had a similar issue in that the problem was a dead DC-DC chip on the main board where all the important rails came from. I replaced the chip, all supplies came back good and it booted so I reassembled it ready to test some functions of the whole package. Shortly into testing the unit went dead again. Similar symptoms to the original fault but now I'm down a £3 chip. From this, I learned to tests the rails before fitting the chip - am not sure it would have helped because it seems like the fault is fairly deep in something like the processor. As you suggest at the end, the question from this video is why the chip gave up? Best wishes. :-)
