You're an excellent presenter - this video is so easy to follow, and I've remembered more in this one video than weeks of watching loads of other channels. Well done!
Wow, creating ambient soundscapes simple and cool. Using this effects setup as a template is pretty awesome. Even with Ableton Live 12 Intro, this goes a long way. Thanks for sharing.
Great video, just getting to learn Ableton, it helped a lot.I have two comments: - an octave is 12 semitones (in the video you set 7 at 12:20) - a fifth is 7 semitones (you set 4 in the video) But thanks again for the video
I'm glad the video helped! Yes you're correct with the semitones, but on this video because I'm using the scale awareness system, all of the intervals are set in scale degrees rather than semitones. This means that when using a simple major/minor scale 7 scalded degrees is an octave and 4 scale degrees is a diatonic fifth. Using this method means that everything stays in key, rather than having it all just related to the incoming note. I apologise if that wasn't clear in the video! 😊
@@matttinklermusic um actually, since you're using a pentatonic scale, the octave is 5sd, and the fifth is 3sd (except for the third of the scale, here A, because a fifth above that is E, which isn't in the major pentatonic scale)
You're right! I forgot I was using a pentatonic scale in this video, I guess I should have actually checked the timestamp and video before commenting 😅
gorgeous my friend! loved these ideas! so many overly complicated tutorials on youtube or tutorials that use a million plugins that no one has...this is refreshing! glad it came across my feed! subbed!
Great video buddy. Do you have any vids explaining how to create ambient soundscapes to match horror and sci fi images and animations please? I'm looking to create a track of winds howling, debris hurling through the air and distant natural noises etc. Imagine a horror ambience, that sort of thing, where perhaps some subtle music with a few notes and chords sometimes appears. If so, please let me know. Thank you
Thanks for watching! I don't have any videos like that at the moment, but I can look into it. In the meantime I'd recommend checking out the Krotos Studio plugin, which is a really great sound design plugin for that kind of stuff!
@@matttinklermusic thanks very much. I'll defo check it out and just play around. Appreciate the tips and your clear and precise vids will absolutely help 👍

Sorry my version of ableton doesn’t have drift
Drift was introduced in Live 11.3. What version of Live are you using?
The sound he's making is possible to replicate on Wavetable
