one feature i dont see anyone talking about is the fact that audio output in settings now has an option for "system setting" which means your audio will automatically change based on what your system does, for example if you have headphones connected and you unplug them, ableton will automatically switch to whatever your system does rather than coming up with the message "audio engine is off" which is super handy for us laptop producers that are constantly switching outputs
@@miownize6130 I was trying to figure that out too and ended up seeing the shortcut key on the Info View window on the bottom left while having a MIDI clip open. Basically you press and hold E first and then hold Ctrl and then it'll activate the cursor while you hover over a MIDI note! For Windows: E + Ctrl (Chop note - Dragging)

The arpeggiate in MIDI is going to me life changing for me. I’ve been setting up multiple tracks and bouncing MIDI from one track to another to edit arpeggios. So dope.

The triple mixer, clip, device view is so fire... that would've been enough for me AND all the piano roll stuff..I'm gonna be playing around for hours lol
This is definitely a bigger upgrade than 10 was going to 11. It would be super dope if you could have session view inside of arrangement view and watch your performance get recorded in real time on one screen. The piano roll is looking fantastic. As far as drums it would put it on par with FL if you could change the pitch of a drum sample without having to put it in it's own separate track.

I wonder if the new MIDI features will allow you to make a group of notes end at the same place without having to edit each individual note. On Logic Pro, you just hit option and selected note ends will snap together. Very useful when recording in chords on MIDI keyboard and then cleaning up after. As of L11 you must keep relative note lengths.
Thanks for this video. It was very good. I like the rhythim generated in the last part a lot. I'm not good in finger drumming. Always end up with the same stuff. There's a lot to experiment with these new tools.
I've seen several reviews they all showed many things related to the piano roll and were nice but none mentioned the strum. And the rhythm generator is awesome too. Now I'm very excited. I already signed up to buy it when it is released.
If the strum is what you are after take a look at the max device 'sculptor' it's free and has more features than the new Ableton Piano roll. Honestly if you dig into Max 4 Live devices you don't need the ultra expensive 'upgrade'

I like to produce mostly with my Push 2 so it would be great to see how these new features are incorporated, if at all, using the Push 2 or 3. Ableton doesn't like to provide many features on the Push so I'm not counting on it.
for me: piano roll in 12 still doesn't (have an option to) remember the last "clicked in" or drawn midi note length (in a clip), which FL's Piano Roll does easily and instantly by default also, no ability to turn off (disable) "all devices and instruments per track" to save CPU (which is honestly mind-boggling that they don't feel that's important, of value, or easy to implement) without having to do the Freeze as well as "hide/unhide tracks" (as per Bitwig)
The ability to turn off per track might have to do with their code architecture. It may look simple from feature point of view. But, in term of code it might be difficult without code refactoring.
@@thegoldenseedThanks for the reply ! I can manually turn off all the devices on a track.
