    one feature i dont see anyone talking about is the fact that audio output in settings now has an option for "system setting" which means your audio will automatically change based on what your system does, for example if you have headphones connected and you unplug them, ableton will automatically switch to whatever your system does rather than coming up with the message "audio engine is off" which is super handy for us laptop producers that are constantly switching outputs

    for me: piano roll in 12 still doesn't (have an option to) remember the last "clicked in" or drawn midi note length (in a clip), which FL's Piano Roll does easily and instantly by default
    also, no ability to turn off (disable) "all devices and instruments per track" to save CPU (which is honestly mind-boggling that they don't feel that's important, of value, or easy to implement) without having to do the Freeze
    as well as "hide/unhide tracks" (as per Bitwig)

    • @thegoldenseed
      @thegoldenseed 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ability to turn off per track might have to do with their code architecture. It may look simple from feature point of view. But, in term of code it might be difficult without code refactoring.

    • @djIraScience
      @djIraScience 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thegoldenseedThanks for the reply !
      I can manually turn off all the devices on a track. All I was looking for: is a hotkey (or a small icon object) that would turn off all the devices in a track, versus me having to do it manually. Something like: Control-Shift Mute button (maybe) to "Disable Track".
      For now, I'll stick with Freeze Track to save the CPU resources : )

    This is definitely a bigger upgrade than 10 was going to 11. It would be super dope if you could have session view inside of arrangement view and watch your performance get recorded in real time on one screen. The piano roll is looking fantastic. I wonder if the new MIDI features will allow you to make a group of notes end at the same place without having to edit each individual note. On Logic Pro, you just hit option and selected note ends will snap together. Very useful when recording in chords on MIDI keyboard and then cleaning up after. As of L11 you must keep relative note lengths.

    The hate is mostly because it feels more like an update rather than an upgrade
    This feels like Ableton Live 11+ rather than 12
    FL studio is the biggest competitor and it has had these features for almost a decade
    Ableton wants to charge you for something that should have been an update
    I use both FL studio and Ableton and i dont see a reason to pay for features that ive had for over a decade in FL
    I also use Cubase and most of this has been in Cubase for years

      FLStudio literally wasn't Ableton, and Ableton have their own "One Pager" & "Live" flow,
      that was crushing the other DAW, because other DAW like to obstructing the screen all the time
      yes, Ableton didn't have that one feature that FL had,
      but, FL also are fundamentally flawed beyond repair,
      and it took hack after hack just to patch up their fundamental mistake.
      but, regardless, both are completely usable to procuce real music

      As decap said these are convenience updates, not just absolute game changers. If you know how to use 2 or more daws efficiently, you can make the same quality of beats in any of those daws. Ableton had some features that fl didnt have for decades and vice versa. People really need to get out of their comfort zone and understand the world doesnt revolve around just their bubble, therefore all those negative opinions.

    Sooooooo happy you said, "Let's get it" in the intro. Every other video starts with a "Without further ado" and I HATE that. And yes, some very nice updates in Ableton 12!

    Yes these are good QoL changes but the reason people are calling it out, is because Ableton labelled this as 12 instead of 11.5, with a hefty update price tag for non youtuber users 😭

    nah fr, new features in piano roll really helps, when i make like beats in midi specially drums, it is really time consuming and i rather work with loops to give inspiration, that's why this update really gives ableton users faster workflow

    I´m wondering how the new browser search functions will mess up the harddrive space and speed. They need to save all those huge library setting somewhere.

    with the velocity, they used to have the feature where you could highlight and straight line draw what you want but they got rid of it in 11.

    The only thing frustrating is that the upgrade costs almost the same as a full license for Logic Pro. However I understand that Ableton lives off only this product and I enjoy using it and don’t mind supporting the company by paying a premium on their software. Especially as someone who makes money with it, it pays for itself and I like seeing things I’ve been missing being implemented (like the mixer view a la logic)

    I prefer the note repeat of my Mpc key 61 which does the repeats ad your programming the beat without stopping. But I’m looking at ableton as another workflow.
