You should do this again but for the hamster minigame. Train a fat hamster to be thin again using jack in the boxes and swimming pools
i always thought the citrus seed looked like a kumquat, and dream fluff looked like dandelion(which can be brewed into a coffee substitute)!
My money was also on Dandelion for Dream Fluff
Dandelion tea is good drink tbh
You know if we didn't have a game coming out soon, i would say we would be scraping the bottom of the barrel for Professor Layton content, but the video was really high quality in its editing and topic that I cant say that in good faith.
Wait there's gonna be a new Layton game?!
@@Gamemaster6400 bro you are out of the loop. It's getting a new trailer and demo at Tokyo Games Fest on the 24th of September
@@Gamemaster6400yeah, I think the demo is going to be available soon
@@Gamemaster6400you Can see the trailer in the Nintendo direct 😊
When watching the ingridients breakdown I was on candy floss and I was like "Okay, he's not taking it too seriously, this is obviously a dandelion puff, that could be an easy replacement" and then the dandelion was used as a shamrock replacement. Im so confused
I think other than the citronia seed, none of them were really based on the picture. It was definitely more fun to try and gather clues from the descriptions too!
@@DearestHershel I get it hah. When we were thinking of Cinder Horse, my first thought was *horse*raddish, I was lowkey hoping you would go that way too hah
The teaset minigame is what kickstarted my herbal tea obsession and I'm only a little bit mad about it
Thanks for letting me film this nonsense Bob
thanks for not turning off the camera off halfway through the day.
Horseradish was right there man.
Triggered my gag reflex 10/10
That's the spirit!
1:05: "In Pandora's Box, the obviously best game in the franchise, we have..." 100% agree. It has always been my favourite.
This was such a fun video! As a kid, I think the tea game fascinated me partly because it bridged the gap between British tea culture and (broadly) modern Asian tea culture! Corn whisker tea is a thing and one of my favorites - and I always imagined goji berries / elderberries in place of the Brisk Berry + ginger as Tonic Flower + yuzu as Citronia Seed!
The latter is still my go to comfort drink - if you have a sweet tooth, highly recommend getting your hands on some yuzu marmalade at a local Asian food mart and mixing a spoonful into hot water.
10/10 better than the sidemen.
Thanks for bringing me on for this.
Never go weak with your frazzles.
Gonna be slapping this one on the CV. #FrazzleLyf
Frazzle tea🗣️‼️‼️
weird to think that one day i got a DS for christmas and then several years later i'm drinking frazzles in a tea and those two events are genuinely related.
I'm not brittish, what do frazzles taste like?
@@cheese_boio2337literally just like bacon, but with the texture of a Cheeto (?)
Looking solely at the in-game images, I feel like some more grounded analogs would be:
Dream Fluff - Dandelion
Joy Root Clover - Spearmint
Citronia Seed - Bergamot or Kumquat
Peppercherry - Rose hips
Tonic flower - Ginger
Oasis Leaf - Ginseng
Brisk Berry - Konpeitō (Japanese star-candy)
Cinder Horse - Seahorse (but evidently they taste like seaweed, so that's a good vegan replacement i guess?)
Although YOUR interpretations were much more creative and made for a funnier video!
I gotta try the Elysian Error at some point 😉
7:10:
Oh Now you bring up the dandelions.
OH MY GODDD you just fulfilled every last bit of my childhood curiosity. I always wondered what those teas would taste like!
What really confused me is that he went over finding the ingredients based on the name rather than the descriptions. For example I though the first ingredient sounded just like mint, although it has been a little while since ive played DB. Im also surprised he didnt check the names in other regions to find more hints to get a better what the ingredients could be
To make it more interesting
This appeared in my feed, and I am so happy I watched! Amazing high quality stuff man, I'll have to see whats coming up!
Glad to have you here! If you're a fan of the Layton series, this is the channel for you!
tea
Cant wait to see you smash and reassemble a film camera.
i thought for sure youd do a dandelion clock for the dream fluff, i always thought that was what it was supposed to be when i was a kid
I think dandelion is not so good for you
@@dontspikemydrink9382 Nah brewing with dandelion is fine, plenty of dandelion teas sold around here and I've been using it in the extracts that go in my daily water bottle for a few years now and I'm Fine. (and worth a mention: the UK equivalent of American sassafras-based root beer is dandelion and burdock, which is actually really good and I recommend it)
@@GoodTato so, just not raw
6:25:
🤨Really? Because when I look at that plant I just think of a dandelion (which you Can also use to make tea, and I’ve heard it’s pretty good).
This is the type of content real gentlemen watch.
Hilarious video. Exactly how I wanted to spend my morning!
Brilliant idea, hilarious video. Also curbed my cravings for most, if not all, teas from the minigame - thanks lads
Our pleasure!
Super entertaining watch. I like the concept of it too!
Ahahah, this was so fun to watch
I actually think I commented this idea at some point
This could almost be redone one day, trying to pick more sensible ingredients and going more by flavor, but I guess it wouldn't be so funny and research would be more complicated. I think that would be for a different channel, someone deep into teas and herbs
I will say this from the bottom of my Layton tea-infused heart- thank you for having me
Twas a pleasure to have you there. Hope you've finally been able to rinse the lemon and Frazzles out of your throat.
This was so fun. Thank you for making videos 😊
I'm glad to have this as reference to finally try these myself!
this was such a fun video !!!
I screamed at that frazzles reveal
Blimey, I'd forgot about the Tesco horse meat thing. I can't believe that was 11 years ago!
As a Great British Gentleman myself I love Frazzles. And seeing this video of crushed Frazzles in a pot of tea is the most British thing I can imagine...
5:50:
🤔Hmm… I would have used tangerines, satsumas or nectarines myself. Sure the shape resembles more of a lemon, but the colour seems Far closer to that of an orange. I always imagined them being closer to oranges when I played the game and imagined the flavour being very similar as well. Personally I would have used tangerines as a substitute.
Best minigame!!
im tempted to try some of these myself
Ah yes, the PG tea tips in the Professor Layton that never fails to taste like shit. 👍
ngl this video makes me want to make a cup of tea and get cosy
This is going to be fun
Frazzles mentioned
Now you have my attention
46:09 Yup that sounds about right
Surprised you didn't use the ingredient's descriptions at all for this
Tiday is me and my brothers birthday 🎩🎂🎈🎉
happy birthday!! hope you have lots of fun
hope the wonders of frazzles tea brings you all you could've ever wanted on this joyous day.
@@DearestHershel Cheers lad😊❤
happy birthday!!!
This was entertaining
This video is incredible. Gotta ask though, am I an American heathen for microwaving my mug of water for tea?
8:15:
😨Those things?! I’m not sure they’re the kind of thing I’d put in tea.
☺️My Dad cooks them for our dinner on some nights and they’re still delicious. While I do really like them, I’m not exactly sure I’d use them for a brew.
why no comments
too right.
@@DearestHershelhere is another
How many puzzle did yer granmum had to solved in order to unlock the ability to amack these ingredients out of yalls hands from tea😅😅
Hiya mate! Could you please tell me what the song at 2:42 is? It’s a lovely piece of music!
It's Luella Gren - Whispering of the Stars! I think it's a brill track too!
@@DearestHershel thanks mate! You’re a legend :)
The citronia looks more like a kumquat if you ask me
I was thinking a Bergamot Orange, since bergamot is used to give Earl Gray Tea its flavour.
Pretty sure brisk berries are supposed to be konpeito. They look the same and are described as being sweet. That being said I'm no tea expert but I don't think candy is something you can brew- nvm you used cotton candy I guess you can make tea with anything
Just looked up konpeito as I'd never heard of it before, and yep, that's a pretty similar image. Still, if we were to go off images alone for all of them, then I'd have definitely had to eat a seahorse.
What was your fav tea?
The normal one I had after recording this to wash the taste of Frazzles out of my mouth.
Why the shade against cotton candy, it sure is not floss. @@DearestHershel
@@dontspikemydrink9382Sure ain't cotton either.
@@DearestHershel it looks like cotton
I am looking to get a shirt soon but I just wanted to ask if you've thought about creating a patreon for the channel? I would 100% be up to support since you're singlehandedly keeping this fandom alive lol I had a really good laugh today thanks to you guys! Hope you have a nice day :)
I've definitely thought about it, though I think I'd struggle to make Patreon exclusive stuff in addition to what I already make. Wouldn't wanna just take people's money and then not give anything extra back.
Can you PLEASE add accurate closed captions for the live dialogue too
Floss does not make sense

🫤You think it was just You? 🫖☕️I felt exactly the same way.
