There is a family of Barred Owls that lives in the woods by my work. I've seen both parents as well as chicks! Beautiful birds!

Guys! I had to dig this video up because I just discovered today that I have a pair of Barred Owls practically living in my backyard! (Southeastern PA) I heard it first, then pinned down where it was (unfortunately in a heavily leafed tree) but I got too close and it flew off. I was so heartbroken! At least I caught it's call in Merlin, so I have proof they're hanging around. SOMEday... Thanks so much for all of these great videos!
Barred owls are one of my favorite birds. Seeing one up close in the middle of the woods is what got me into bird watching. They are so awesome.

I love owls for the very same reasons you do.
I was once awoken in the middle of the night by a pair of caterwauling barred owls. It was the most unique and eerie thing I've ever heard. Really cool, but I've yet to actually see one.

Another excellent video! One humbly submitted correction, though- Barred Owls are not the 2nd largest owls in North America. Great Horned, Snowy, and Great Gray are all bigger, making Barred the 4th largest owl in NA. Regardless, they are imposing and haunting beasts, no doubt. Thanks for the great content; keep it up!

Thanks! So for some of the introduction video in this episode of Ryan talking, we used a Nikon D5300 but all the owl shots 🦉 were taken with the Panasonic LUMIX DMC FZ-80 which is a great, versatile camera.
There are to barred owls near me and they have owlets!
