End of the day a married couple can only claim tax relief on selling one main residence - so in this case the authorities just need to decide which house was the main residence of the married couple - it's not a difficult judgment to make.

Easy to find out...check who paid the council tax and if each partner had the 25% discount or not.. if she was the land lady she wouldn't pay any council tax the tenants would pay it. also the discount on a council house purchase has to be paid back if sold within a certain period. (3 years I think). So if she physically moved out less than three years after purchase that would need to be repaid to the council.

End of the day a married couple can only claim tax relief on selling one main residence - so in this case the authorities just need to decide which house was the main residence of the married couple - it's not a difficult judgment to make.

Easy to find out...check who paid the council tax and if each partner had the 25% discount or not.. if she was the land lady she wouldn't pay any council tax the tenants would pay it. also the discount on a council house purchase has to be paid back if sold within a certain period. (3 years I think). So if she physically moved out less than three years after purchase that would need to be repaid to the council.
It’s not just Rayner its endemic that politicians think its an all you can eat free for all money buffet at the tax payers expense! We need a huge cleanse and rule changes.
