    Good patience on training new tech, when I started I bumped into a bitter older tech who would yell at younger techs for not knowing all he knew straight out of tech school.

    Hate to criticize, but should be wearing safety squints in the vicinity of a spinning wire wheel. Sometimes the wires will break and fly off, not to mention flecks of debris that the process is stripping off. Otherwise, you do fine work and your newbie helper looks to be in good hands.

    Jim you are excellent in your craftsmanship!👍But when it's come to safety very poor!!!! I stated that in some of your videos in the pass! But I understand you are set in them old ways you not going to change! But least look out for the young TECHNIAN he needed safety glass on handing that wire wheel also gloves on and let that compress down a rope!!!👍👍

    Great to see you back Jim! Is the gentleman with you on this job an apprentice or relative etc? He can't get a better teacher! I'm going to hit Lowe's and get that medium bristle wheel, it looks like it will do the job. Could you have swedged the compressor opening instead of the pipe that fits over it? Thanks, Woody

    • @JamesPettinato
      @JamesPettinato  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is my son Dave, he's a quick learner and it's fun for me to spend time joking around with him. The compressor stub was swedged out to 1/2", I didn't want to crack it especially since it was so close to the compressor. thanks

    • @jonhvac
      @jonhvac 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the compressor stubs are copper plated steel. So they wouldn't handle a swaged to well.

      +Jim Pettinato great! ya i like those rheem units for the ports on the outside i havent seen other brands do that its a shame. especially carrier, the whole cover has to come off and you have to rig it do air doesnt bypass the coil for your hoses.

    How long does your co2 tank last for cleaning coils? I just got one today so I can do the units in my rental properties and was just wondering.

    • @JamesPettinato
      @JamesPettinato  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      depends how big and how dirty each condenser is, I carry 2 tanks in my truck and go through them this time of the year. thanks

    • @pmgodfrey
      @pmgodfrey 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Jim. It definitely lost some weight after cleaning three units. Two small R22 units and a taller 410A. I didn't think ahead to how covered in dust and dirt I'd be. :)
      The contents are cheap to replace...tank deposit hit me hard though. :(

      @JamesPettinato  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm fairly new to HVAC...not trying to start a business, but would love to learn the basics because I enjoy a good challenge and I think it'd be fun to work on my own equipment on my rental properties. I spoke with my neighbor tonight who does do HVAC. He suggested that I do not mix my gauge hoses do to cross contamination. I just purchased a Testo 550, which I love by the way, but was wondering if I should have different hoses for different gases.
      I'm learning slowly. I love the troubleshooting aspect as well.
      Have a great weekend, Jim.

      when you were little you were told there was a tooth fairy and an Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, then you grew up and found out they were fairy tales, well you can put hose refrigerant cross contamination with those fairy tales
