    Have the kit and tester from Kent, done it before with Monarch nozzles. Checking the spray pattern and pop pressures is so important.

    Pierre, another interesting topic! Was always curious as to what made up an injector. For the sake of us newbies, may I suggest perhaps a table where you could place these small parts on so that we could better view them. Kinda hard to see when holding them. Maybe a close up of each? IDK. The information given is excellent and really helpful. Thanks Pierre 👍🏻

      I kept thinking how gloves would make holding the small parts very difficult

    • @MrTheHillfolk
      @MrTheHillfolk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@43cdb it does ,but then the salts and oil from your fingers aren't a good idea to get all over the nozzle and tip.
      Once everything is cleaned up it's no big deal putting them together bare handed , get some hemostats or tweezers or a lint free cloth to pick up the nozzle/tip assembly.
      If they're worn, I've seen em usually be at the low side of the break over pressure, and they all evenly rise maybe 100-150psi when new nozzles are installed.
      Nozzles are cheap , provide a good spray pattern to keep egt and possible erosion on metal parts from a bad spray pattern. A funky injector is a good way to hole a piston or damage a prechamber if it's really bad and ignored.
      Was pleasantly surprised this am, as I've never started this 240d I got when it's been this cold.
      27 this morning ,I glowed it 2x and it fired right off pretty smooth, no white smoke or missing so at the minimum I know I have a decent engine as far as compression goes.
      146k, I should throw a set of new nozzles in it when I get a chance when it's parked for winter.

    Great timing on this... Especially since I was going to start working on my injectors this week 😁

    Thanks for a timely video. I’ve got a bit of weeping between the haves of a couple injectors. Apparently I did not lap long enough. I was also wondering whether I could use a bit of sealant on the threads after more lapping, so thanks for the answer.
    I have put in new Monarch nozzles twice, at about 250K and 400K on my ‘85 300TD. I did have to play with shims the first time, but they were all spot on (+ or - about 25psi) with the second change. A previous owner had apparently done a nozzle cleaning before I purchased the car. Both times new nozzles made a noticeable improvement, but the most dramatic improvement was scraping and walnut blasting all the carbon out of the intake and intake and exhaust ports when replacing the manifold gasket.

    i just installed 4 non turbo injectors i got from ebay not to long ago, seller stated that one of them leaks a bit but should stop leaking after some use, they have been balanced, tested, lapse ect ect by someone who has expeirence in rebuilding injectors so i went ahead and slapped them on cause i dont know how the old injectors were firing. ever since i put in the new injectors the engine sometimes misfires on a cold engine when i start it and sometimes has a nailing sound (could be air in the injectors) but i noticed theres some smoke from the exhaust compared to the old injectors. I think the old injectors were working fine, no misfires on cold engine and there wasn't that much smoke.. i think i made the mistake of putting the rebuilt injectors in when it wasn't necessary.. at the same time i didnt know the history of the previous injectors.. (also i dont have a pop tester so i couldn't test them, i was relying on luck) but i noticed the fuel consumption on the rebuilt injectors are really good.. not sure if thats a sign that they are working properly..

    Se eu apenas desmontar limpar e lixar com lixa 2000. Remontar com os mesmos calços . poderá dar uma diferença de vazão de mais de 10% entre os 5 injetores? Seria seguro eu fazer este procedimento?? Ja trabalhei muito em oficina. Porém esta parte aqui somente o bombista é que faz

    The primary challenge for me is torqueing the housing and the injector into the engine a minimum of 10 times. Mind those c5 through c6 discs! 😁

    • @johnwalters878
      @johnwalters878 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My understanding is that Bosch are made in India and the only German injectors now are the Monarks. I think Kent Bergsma is the importer of these now. Maybe Pierre can chime in with his 2 cents worth. I know he isn’t a Kent superfan, but I would certainly love his opinion on this topic. I actually have a set of each and have not got around to the injector rebuild project yet on my CD.

    This does not apply to vegetable running cars. If your car is converted to vegetable fuel, immediately go back to clean deisel then clean pump and injectors along with almost everything else that is damaged.

      Did the new Monarks make a difference? Power, economy?

    • @ofirs5830
      @ofirs5830 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Power and economy are a bit better. It runs quieter as well. The issue is that idle is not smooth so I was thinking maybe the injectors open up too late? Maybe it needs to be set to 1900psi?

    • @ebutuoyebutouy
      @ebutuoyebutouy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ofirs5830 Thanks for sharing. IMHO there is no need to go above 1900 and no need to go to an exact number. U just want all to be the same. 5% change in pressure is not going to upset the timing one little bit. Fluid is nearly incompressible and when the pump's plunger moved past the slot there is a near instantaneous change in pressure to the injectors pop of pressure. Double check the IP timing. I would try retard it 2 deg. U have a 617, 603, or 606?

    • @ofirs5830
      @ofirs5830 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Om617 turbo

    • @MrTheHillfolk

      On my VW diesels ,I always set em at the high side of the break over spec and they seemed to always run nice. Other side of the coin can be if you make it too high you can kill the pump quickly, but as a general rule of thumb going a few hundred pounds higher won't hurt it much.
      Not sure if the break over pressure is higher for the turbodiesels on the mercs , it is on the VW idi.
      Around 1900 for a non turbo and 22-2300 for a turbo, I'd wager mercs are the same.
