Good job i use fiberglass pipe wrap , it looks like a bandage and comes in different widths , you soak it in water then wrap it round the antenna .For dx it is superb , mine sat on the ground leaning against my garage and worked all over europe .It is now up 30ft on an extendable mast. I have had to repair it this is the biggest let down .I like this antenna and even bought another one from Radiozing for £50 which had a small crack in the fiberglass which i repaired and keep it for a spare / portable .Against my old imax / and even older Antron it wins easy especially for dx and low swr but for build quality no.
I love the way the antenna looks but I'm gonna build one and fasten it to a cane pole or buy the MFJ 33 foot telescoping Fiberglass Antenna mast for 99 bucks.
I have one of these, however I stripped it out completely dismantled the wire and left the choke, threw it on top of a 12m fibreglass mast, guyed it and end of story. Nice performance but poor fibreglass build quality from sirio let's this antenna down
Why did you paint it with metallic paint? That must play havoc with your swr? I think supposing you glassed it from top to bottom it would still be a cheap fishing pole. Has it snapped again yet?
+Big Ian Builds It was painted in the color alloy silver ,its not actually alloy just the color alloy , its a UV paint to stop the Sun damaging the fiberglass , and no its not a fishing pole as yet and no it hasn't broken again and the swr is flat from 26 to 28
I don't believe he understands how metallic type paint is made, some of that is loaded with titanium dioxide, especially the olive drab. Quick way to ruin an antenna.
Hi there, Glad I find your video. I also have one of these antennas. It's nowhere near as much damaged as yours, however there are some cracks in the first section. I'm hoping the following two materials will fix mine. Fibreglass tape and Axson Epolam resin. What's your opinion?
because the antenna performs very well but not strong enough to handle strong winds, also the hot sunny conditions in Australia make the fibreglass brittle

should do the job ,just remember to have some flex in your mast to take some strain off the antenna in strong winds

would have seeked out better tubing like they use on large marine antenna and just moved the cuts over to that
