Great explanation of the two types of studies and timing. Of course, costs always need to be considered, so knowing that quantitative could be a little less expensive that qualitative is good to know. Great short video, thankyou.
Was just talking to some scholars that I met in your residency class about your informative videos. We are in RES 880 and struggling a bit with foundation vs framework and theory and how to put all of that together to guide our research, and we said, "let's see if Dr. Markette has a video on that!" Maybe in the future? (Also, I am the opposite of this. I wanted to do quant but wasn't going to have the numbers to support what I found as the need in my problem space, so had to switch to qual.) Appreciate your videos.
Another thought for you, @Denise Russo, and anyone else with this hurdle: check out Qualtrics and Mturk as possible solutions. They are crowdsourcing services. You need to pay them, but it may be worth the cost for some students.
This video is very informative. I am doing my research on qual method, but after watching this, i am tempting to switch, but again am scared of the numbers. Thanks a lot your videos have been very helpful. I am in RES 831
@Parola, yes, many people are unduly afraid of quant, but I encourage you to think about your goals. If a qual study fits the goals BEST, then do that; however, if you--or anyone--is ONLY considering qual due to arithmophobia, I encourage watching this video multiple times :) Statistically, those with quant studies tend to finish doctoral programs faster.

There is always a lot to consider, but historically, quantitative studies go a lot faster. Keep us in the loop about your progress!
Eye opening and something to SERIOUSLY consider--thanks!!!
Yes, there is a lot to consider when choosing your methodology. Choose wisely! Best to you!

Thanks, Denise! I will definitely put this topic on the docket for one of my upcoming videos. Thanks for watching.
