- The concept of a "Learning Journal" intrigued me initially, as I had never heard of something like it. Having something that was part notebook and part guided journal has been a really interesting change from my usual blank journals! I've been using this journal for almost 4 weeks now and it's changed the way I look at learning and allowing me to enjoy it more than usual! I review the setup, weekly exercises, journal layout and approach, and of course, the paper in this video. Enjoy :)

Well, 12 weeks covers an average school or university “term” of between 10-12 weeks, so it makes sense. And I like how it starts simply from week 1, and the explore/experiment interactions increase throughout the 12 weeks. I’ve never heard of this, I like it!

Idk where you're from, but in the US terms are about 16 weeks

Homeschool mom here thinking how I might use this for 12 week unit studies! ❤ Going to consider this. We use notebooks as it is. So, why not try one that prompts and guides the learning experience!

I'd love to hear how it went after you're done. I ordered one earlier and I'm still waiting on it, but no one has made a video of them actually using it and i love that I'm seeing it in practice.

Would you recommend this journal for those learning a new language? I'm currently studying Basic Greek for a trip to Milos next year.
I absolutely would! Some of the experiments might need to be tweaked a bit to fit your goal but it’s a great way to add some structure to learning a new language :)

Nearly bought this today Emily. There’s a lot of space for Explore. Am thinking of taking a 12+ week course in Jazz Blues guitar in February. Could I stick charts in it? What do you think?
Hey David!! You could definitely stick things into it, use it like a scrapbook, throw multimedia at it, anything you want! They encourage you to make the journal really interactive and stick things in, as long as you don’t mind it getting bulky 😊
But is the explore section each week too big? Did you spend much time completing it?
Im just bad in grad school but my courses are only 8 weeks long each - am wondering how I would end up using a 12 week journal but can see the possibilities for sure!

I do! With all the different ways they have you apply what you're learning and the experiments and such it can help keep things interesting for sure :)
Do you think this is better suited to self-learning or in conjunction with an actual class?
Hey Terri! Since this provides a lot of structure it could feel like doubling your coursework if you use it for an actual class that already has lots of assignments. If your class is very light on homework/assignments (such as the grades are mostly from exams let's say) I think this would be a great companion! Hope that helps :)

Can you have several learning exercises or do you have to follow one exercise?
There’s at least one learning experiment each week and they’re always different! Sometimes there’s more than one in a week so you could choose to do whichever one or all of them 😊
