    I’m almost certain you’d want the heat tape on the opposite side of the metal housing to reflect heat, with it on the side with the filter it would likely magnify the heat entering the intake housing instead of bounce it off same with that filter cover you’d want it where you could see the tape and not by the filter.

    • @pythondon
      @pythondon  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hmmm I guess thats a good point, lol reflecting the heat instead of trapping it. I can check the guide and see what is says

      @@pythondon if you did do what the guide instructed and it says to do that then the guide is most likely wrong as well then I’m 100% sure you’d want that tape to reflect the heat outside of the heat shield instead of radiate the heat that gets in the shield. Regardless great video I liked it a lot :)

      When I did my intake on a M56 I went a step further and got those weird air scoop fins AFE sells. You need the air flow as efficient as possible due to all the heat from the bay, I hate how our radiator reservoir tanks are sooo close to the air filter, that things puts off serious heat.

    • @MaliciousMatt888
      @MaliciousMatt888 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pythondon oh ya it’s an addition to the oem snorkel, really the product is overpriced tho. It defiantly helps direct air flow to the intake it’s self but may just slightly take away air going to radiator/engine as it redirects air. Wouldn’t in any way effect performance/cooling tho. I’m thinking about having some modification done to the hood to allow better flow in the bay.

      @@MaliciousMatt888 Awesome to hear bro. I figured maybe when I get the OEM snorkel kit I can just get those and help cool the bay down during the late night highway runs. yeah the heat shielding should be on the other side, get some shielding for the metal intake pipe connected to your pod filter as well or just change it to a silicone pipe

  • @flipfinish
    @flipfinish 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    What I can say is according to intake temp live data my cold air kit (AFE magnum) at speed is reading the same temps as the stock air box. At idle it is within a degree or two warmer. The cold air kit has arguably more “volume” and can flow more air because of the larger filter, not sure that matters on a non forced induction car. But what a cold air kit does do better than the stock air box is sound amazing.
    These will not increase power, but the sound is worth it in my humble opinion.

    • @pythondon
      @pythondon  ปีที่แล้ว

      If your filter keeps falling off brother the Intake tube is not grabbing the inside lip of the filter itself. When you go to install your filter again, run your fingers all the way around the lip of the intake tubing to make sure the tubing is all the way secure around the intake lip. You should also be able to feel through the intake tubing the metal inside of the Filter lip. Make sure your clamp is grabbing onto that hard piece of the filter lip that is now inside the intake tubing. You can have the clamps tightened all the way but if they’re not grabbing that metal lip of the filter itself you are just squeezing the intake tubing and will actually cause the Filter to pop off.
