  • @NavyCuda
    @NavyCuda 7 ปีที่แล้ว +26

    I'm really impressed by the slow motion, how little movement there is in the pistol during the roll in on double action. I would love an opportunity to learn from you as a student one day.

  • @FailWords
    @FailWords 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The first shot with DA/SA is the most critical. I take a deeper, trigger-finger "bite" on the trigger, very nearly at the first knuckle, then back to center pad for the following shots. Great video! Beautiful slow motion shots! Thank you.

    This totally fixed my issues of shooting a few inches low with the HK USP9C in DA/SA.
    Literally on my first range trip after having seen this, "ROLL, PRESS," resulted in perfect shots well under an inch at 7-10 yards.
    I was amazed at the difference this made. Thanks, LAV!

    Well said Larry. This works really well with helping or assisting Glock to SIG DA/SA shooters. Roll DA/Press SA. Very well done.

    I already shoot my 92 FS pretty well, but next time I take it to the range I'll try to be more conscientious of how I'm pulling the trigger, to see whether I already have this down instinctively, or can make improvements to my technique.

    Just this July I picked up my first Beretta and it's a 96a1. Great tips in this video and I'm getting better all the time. I'm just shy of a thousand rounds through my pistol so I've got a long ways to go. Made a few simple modifications only because I have neuropathy in my hands from chemotherapy years ago. Love my Beretta that's for sure.

  • @TheOl1911

    Nice food for thought on DA/SA's. Great excuse to buy a new revolver, 1911 and a Beretta (for me the Beretta's DA to SA transition is the most controllable for me - has the same trigger location in SA just a lighter trigger press).

    • @TheSuburban15
      @TheSuburban15 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ??? The DA trigger pull for a Beretta starts way further out than the single-action pull, as with any DA/SA auto, or DA revolver.

  • @Tellyfive

    That pistol doesn't move at all when he works the trigger. God tier.

  • @Disirregardless
    @Disirregardless 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video. At the LAV class I did a couple years back Larry likened the double pull to rowing a boat. . . . When you put the oar in the water, you can stroke it fast or your can stroke is slow (haha) but you have to find a rhythm and once you start moving, you can't stop. When I shoot DA/SA I also make a point to feel out the break point in the trigger, because that is very similar in both da and sa. You can get acclimated to knowing where in the pull the trigger will break, regardless of where the trigger started from (i.e. DA long and heavy, or sa short and lighter).

  • @futuresonex
    @futuresonex 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is something that I should really practice more often. I shoot 1911's & M&P's almost exclusively these days, but my first centerfire pistol was a Ruger P89. I don't shoot it much anymore, but when I do I have to really pay attention or that second shot gets away from me.

    Thanks for the tips Larry. I just recently decided to start carrying da/sa about 2 months ago. I've been shooting for a few years now with many different pistols and I always had trouble with pulling shots off target with the some of the da/sa guns I had. Recently picked up a Beretta px4 storm compact. I will be taking this tips to the range this weekend.

    I've tried to teach this before but was told by firearm instructors either "My technique is to advanced for the class" or "They should just get a Glock"
    When I draw, and grip the weapon in both hands, my left hand thumbs off the safety while my right thumb cock the hammer.
    The safety is off and my hammer is back in single action.
    The counter was "What if they are to close to get both hands on the weapon and up in front of you?"
    Then double action doesn't matter anyway if we're talking elbow distance away, just squeeze through!

    @hambone7777777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    And you have to train/practice at it to be automatically able to do that in a high stress shooting. Good explanation of the known mechanical difference. But, that's why I've always thought that GLOCK triggers are one of the best COMBAT triggers in the world. (Looking at you pink kitty boy!) Not too strong, not too soft, good reset and mostly consistent after break-in/shooting, or polish job. And that's why everyone has copied them. And even though the US Army missed the boat again on acquiring the original and still awesome Austrian innovation, those who want known performance reach for BLOCK.

    Hey Larry..Love your video's..Question: I have noticed in several training videos of the russians. A lot of them in pistol cq and reaction drills, russians always seem to discharge one or two rounds, immediately into the dirt upon drawing their sidearm...Why...would it be to get the weapon from double to single action for precise shots???Intimidation??? Trying to wrap my head around that and that's all I can come up with..Help me out.. Thanks

  • @Richard-wz9uh
    @Richard-wz9uh 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Larry, what do you think about the Press Out method where you start your trigger roll once your gun is in line with the target and at a high compressed ready position so the shot breaks when you get to full extension and the sights are aligned?

    • @kooldawg6
      @kooldawg6 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Richard I just took a class a few weeks back with my P226 DA/SA and the instructor said that is a good way to train IF your target is isolated with little or no chance of hitting a friendly, but if you need a presicion shot, do not start pressing the trigger until properly sighted in.
