    Remember that line. Rode it many times between Abany and GCT and a couple of times to Penn Station. Line is so straight and curves are so gentle that 125mph would probably be a safe speed. Brings back a lot of memories.

    awesome views. Always wanted to travel this route-I take Metro North to New Hamburg and Manhattan weekly and took this route one time but way back in 1974. I drove from Troy area along I think Rt 9J which was next to the tracks and loved the view and small towns.

    grew up in the tri-city area, moved away in '88, relocated to Fla and now model the D&H in the pre Guilford days. This video.. seeing the scenery again helps so much in trying to capture the feel of what I remember while growing up. Thank you for uploading this video.

    I lived in Stottville and worked in Hudson back in '78.

    Start @ 10:12, @ 10:15 minutes, you'll be looking at Mill Creek entering the Hudson River, and to the left, the end of Lewis A. Swyer Preserve trail through the marshland. You can see the elevated lookout tower for the trails end. Nice walk from access off 9J.

      @@PositionLight It's maybe a 15 minute walk, unless you have to check out everything like I do, Beaver chews, tracks in the mud,ETC.

    I think speed is enhanced with a video like this?

      A little. A long zoom will remove speed and depth perception but a fisheye enhances them.

    I am still trying to figure out how they put 4 tracks through here?

    • @PositionLight
      @PositionLight  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only some parts of the line had 4 track.
