As of 11/11/24 due to the East River Tunnel construction, A view like this is NO LONGER possible on Amtrak 290 because it's running double-ended all the way to New York due to the lack of capacity to turn the train through sunnyside. It is still possible in coach on Amtrak 69 and Amtrak 68, both Adirondacks. It is not possible on Amtrak 240, 291, 284, 237, 290, 241, 49, or 48 due to being double-ended or having a baggage car on the rear. On all other Empire Service and Maple Leaf trains the rear window can be viewed from the Business class car.
this line is easliy in my top three of favourites all around the world, but this video is perfect! everything in the video is exaclty as it should be: the foiliage, the colours, the weather... thanks for sharing it with us!
Recalls many good memories from the 1980s-1990s of riding the Hudson Division both ways aboard open-platform PVs Lehigh Valley 353, with the late Dick Horstmann, and Caritas, with owner Clark Johnson. Much appreciated!
2025 the new semiens sprinter dual mode units will replace the GE units on Amtk and metro north. The first metro north unit 301 is on the property at Harmon shops
When did Amtrak add new lighting under the West Side overbuild? This is great! In older videos I would just skip this part because it was too dark to see anything.
I think that around 26:14 you meant to say "Rip Van Winkle Bridge" connecting Hudson with Catskill. Otherwise, it was excellent. Never heard your voice in a video until now..............
Did you do another 290 ride? I see you weren’t supervising the camera. Would it have been a problem if you did the whole ride? Was the conductor chill enough about it
no I tried doing one last year but was unlucky. I could see the camera from my seat and was periodically checking on it (which is how I new to tighten the mount in the beginning). I only did Albany to NYP and I couldn't get the first bit because the rear door was still open from the engine change. Conductors didn't care and in fact, I had Amtrak's marketing team in that area that went into the vestibule to get their own shots and I chatted with one of them between Albany and Hudson. I seem to only have problems on the Northeast Corridor where crews aren't as friendly.

Gotta love the scenery along the Empire Corridor especially during the fall season !
Thanks, Nathan. That's a trip I've wanted to take for years, and now I have.
BEAUTIFUL view of our beautiful NY state 😊😊. Thank you for sharing 🫡
W scenery
Thank you for this! This video helps me a lot with references for my ECTS game
Bravo! Beautiful job!
Excellent video! Sounds like the car you were riding had a bit of a flat spot on one wheel.
I feel like all the amfleets have some sort of flat spot by now, this car wasn’t so bad
Hi Nathan, Thanks For The Video. Breathtaking Scenery. This Was Done During The Fall Season? I Think I Like To Take That Ride Someday, Ok😊?
yes this was taken last week
Amtrak P32AC-DMs are the only dual-mode locomotives with "retractable" third rail shoes on them out of all US and Canada!!
LIRR uses the DM30AC and Metro-North also uses the P32AC-DM
@@nathanjiang100Yes, but their shoes are "fixed", LIRR is overrunning, MNRR is underrunning, Amtrak can do both!!
@@kevinb8881 i see, yeah I knew Amtrak was the only one that could do both bc they had to operate into Grand Central a few years back.
@@nathanjiang100 Yes, that I remember, too!!

2:19:31 - 2:19:32 Ohhh, ex-Metroliner cab!
Awesome video once again. I gotta take that trip one day
Nice intro tunes
Very nice!!

I’m not sure but I think it may have been during the whole parking deck calamity if you remember that

I’ve talked in other videos before

Most NYC area politicians "Commute" on Amtrak to Albany.
Do they really commute on Amtrak?
@@jetfan925 It is the most efficient way to do it if you don't want to drive.
Ossining State Penitentiary or as it's known by its more famous moniker....Sing Sing Prison.
noted
The original name of the Village was Sing Sing
It is also the Genesis of the term 'Up the River" meaning you were going to the state pen if you were from NYC or so.
Do you have plans to do another Pennsylvanian rear view video?
not at the moment, I'd like to do one eventually all the way out to Pittsburgh though.
What's the speed limit on the upper portion of the Hudson Line?
110 mph from CP 142 to CP 123, 85 from CP 123 to CP 89, and 95 from CP 89 to CP 75
Why doesnt it use third rail on the metro north portion?
P32s aren’t built to use electric mode for more than 15 minutes and Amtrak would have to pay MN to use it
Do you have a suction cup mount? Or are you holding the camera up to the rear window?
suction cup mount but in the tunnel I held it against the window to minimize glare
Деревья неплохие,как их зовут,конечно подумаю липы это не так
I'm not sure what the trees are, probably a mix of maple, cedar, spruce, and oak
Excellent work
