30 Days No Alcohol: How it affected me as a working mom | the good, the bad & the unexpected

  • Hello friends and fellow working mom warriors! Today I'm sharing how my first 30 days without alcohol affected me as a working mom. I'm committing to one year without alcohol and I was really shocked by the first 30 days. I hadn't been a heavy drinker so I expected to have better sleep, better skin, mental clarity, and be more productive but I was surprised that the some of the negative effects like being more emotional, having more anxiety, and experiencing an identity crisis outweighed the good.
    Check out why I decided to stop drinking alcohol: • Working Mom w/Toddlers...

    NO amount of alcohol is worth it if you feel like God is saying stop. You will never regret NOT drinking but might always regret doing it. It’s good to dig in and feel uncomfortable sometimes…it changes and matures You!

    Wow this is so interesting to me! As there is a lot of drinking in Europe /Germany too, I feel like the dealing with it is a little lighter. People here drink or don’t drink, and neither is questioned by anybody else- and I would guess most people wouldn’t feel such a change to their identity as you described, if they quit. As drinking is allowed way earlier than in the US, maybe people have more time to „practice „ how they deal with it… I don’t know. Wishing you the best and happy for your journey on feeling better ❤

    After your last video, I quit alcohol too. Just like you, I was a social drinker, never had problems with alcohol. I've been toying with the idea of removing alcohol from my life. Your last video really tipped the scale for me. It also happened to be the same day that my younger kid turned 2 years old. I secretly held this promise (of not drinking alcohol) as a birthday gift to him, so that he could have a better and healthier mom. It has only been 11 days for me, but I feel great. It is like my mind upgraded from 3G network to 5G. Everything just loads up faster, clearer and better. ❤❤❤ Just want to say thank you.

    No offense, honestly bc I adore you but I had to quit drinking too and had a serious problem. I think you might have had more of an issue than you are allowing yourself to believe- ONE drink ONCE a month does not create the scenario you are referring to, you know?

    • @Amanda_Fadul
      @Amanda_Fadul  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure if you’re implying that I had a drinking problem or that I’m fabricating my symptoms but either way you’re entitled to your opinion and I’m just sharing my honest experience.

    • @asweetbite3935
      @asweetbite3935 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Amanda_Fadul absolutely do not think you are fabricating your symptoms…at all. I appreciated your honesty and really liked that you were being so transparent and speaking on such a taboo topic. There’s a really scary “drinking mom” culture that people do not talk about. I used to drink ALL the time and your experience with the daycare thing and feeling like a different person were so relatable. All I’m saying is it’s ok to admit you drank more than one drink once a month because giving that up seems like it wouldn’t be a challenge, but giving up the “wine you love, espresso martinis, mimosas…etc.” totally would and it might be a harder road than you expect. I’ve been sober five years but it took like three years not to crave anymore. I felt really confident to weigh in on a topic that you seemed comfortable receiving feedback about. Hopefully you get what I’m trying to say! I really like your channel and content and it has truly changed my life by motivating me to be a better version of myself. Though of course I’m entitled to my opinion, I wouldn’t use it to be blatantly hurtful or rude. Hope my rambling makes sense 😉 😘

    I just got back from a work conference and I was the only person that didn't drink. I can honestly tell you that I did not care. Plus, I didn't have to worry about feeling guilty after. 😊 So proud of you and just LOVE your videos! I think you are my favorite youtuber!

    I’m 12 days in and I definitely always get worse symptoms when I quit. Worse sleep, red eyes, breakouts ☹️ When I was sober one year, my sleep and hormones were way worse but I’m hoping it isn’t like that this time. The identity thing is so real. My family tends to drink a lot, my husband always says he loves me w a glass of wine! It’s hard to separate yourself from it even when it’s 1% of your entire life!

    • @Amanda_Fadul

    2 weeks, no wine. Today, because I wanted to have “fun” and having associated drinking with fun for years… I wanted a drink badly. Just felt “bored”. Almost skipped therapy because then I’d have no accountability! But, I had my session, and now I’m in bed feeling great about the fact that I did not drink tonight!

    Congratulations on 65 days without alcohol! That’s amazing! When I was deciding whether I wanted alcohol in my life, the most helpful thing someone said to me was that it’s not how much or how often you drink that matters (or dictates if you have a problem), it’s what happens when you drink. I drank very similarly to you (occasionally, socially), and that really resonated with me. I’ve been sober for almost 14 years now and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

    Thank you again for posting these videos, I still haven’t drank despite still battling anxiety and not really having a replacement to help me “relax” I’ve been working out HARD, and that does help take the edge off my unease. I WFH full time with my toddler and most evenings after she’s down I feel wired. Not sure if this is appropriate but could you share some of your favorite non-alcoholic drink recipes/brands. I really understood what you were saying about the look of alcohol versus actually consuming it with all the negative effects. Again thanks for sharing ❤❤

      Mojitos and Moscow mules are my favorite non alcoholic drinks. SO easy to make, just substitute plain or lime flavored seltzer water in place of alcohol. Drink them in a special cup/glass like you would with those drinks typically and you'll feel like you're having an adult drink without all the negatives:)

      Congrats to you!! Working out is such a healthy way to increase endorphins and take the edge off! The brands Giesen and Surely have some really great NA wines/champagne! I also recently tried “mingle” mocktails…they have mimosas, cosmos, etc and come in a can and if you put them in a cute glass it’s almost like you’re drinking the real thing! Thanks for sharing! 🩷🩷
