  • Ueda: A hidden gem in Nagano
    I discovered this amazing place by accident, and have been in love with it ever since. I’ve put together some footage from various trips there, and am excited to share it with everyone. Check out our favorite rest area, local castle, dairy farm and soba with walnuts!

      It’s somewhere I could easily see myself living, so beautiful

    I miss places like this. I lived in Suwa, Nagano for a summer.

    I used to live in Ueda for 6 months, it was wonderful. There were so many places to explorer in the surrounding area, fresh air, nice scenery, many hotsprings, and skiing in the winter. I'd love to go back to live there again!

      I’m kind of a city boy, but I could do a year in Ueda it is such a great place ❤️

    Interesting take on Ueda. I've driven past kawa to michi no eki for years on the way to work, and have never stopped to check it out. I always wondered about that rock nose mountain. I always figured it would make for a great place to end it all.

      Haha that last part of the comment 😂 Yeah I stop there a lot, whenever I head to the Sea of Japan it’s a good place to go. I really want to go up to the top of the rock (not to end it all though 😅)

      @@NomadicGaijin You can drive up there through a village on the other side of the tunnel. I've never done it, but I haven't done a lot of things here. I'm like a New Yorker who has never gone to the top of the statue of liberty. One cool place you might find historically interesting is the Matsushiro underground imperial headquarters. It's about 45 minutes from Ueda on the way to Niigata. If I ever need a bomb shelter, that's where mine is.

      @@TheShrededward I haven’t driven up there but I’ll have to try.
      As far as Matsushiro Underground, I made a video about it on this channel about 2 months or so ago. That’s one of my favorite vids actually, I joined a former TH-camr and had a blast exploring that place just the two of us (completely empty that day!)

    Just to warn you, someday I’ll come visit, and there will be such eating as to create a new fear of foreigners!

    Why would you say Random hidden temple; it isn't random!

    • @NomadicGaijin
      @NomadicGaijin  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh my early TH-cam days…I agree it isn’t random, it should have been more like I was presently surprised by an unexpected shrine along my walk. I have no idea why I said that 😅
