This is so frustrating and I feel for you! I lived in London for over 2 years as an immigrant. I was there as an au-pair and studied acting. While it was all a dream come true, I realized I won't be able to make it work. It was right after the financial crisis over a decade ago and I was a 23yo with no work experience. Getting a job was not going to happen. Eventually, I had to go back to my home country, but it started my journey to freedom. I realized I never want to be a slave to salaries or visas, that I want to build my own thing and take care of myself. So whatever happens, Liz, I'm confident that you'll make it work and that this experience is going to fuel your next chapter. There is just something that fundamentally changes you when you experience being an immigrant in a foreign country. An inner strength that helps you handle anything that used to feel like a big deal, but now feels like a petty small thing.

Ugh I hate this. Everyone around me has been getting laid off. Don’t let it get to you. I always stressed about my visa status until recently when I finally got indefinite leave to remain. Complete game changer for that mental struggle

With my time as an immigrant, I understand the pain of leaving. I wasn't forced back but followed some opportunities back to my home country. I am also halfway paying off massive debt and can say that my only regret in life is allowing myself to become enslaved to my job and salary through debt and sacrifice my future self's freedom. I am a high earner and I don't get to see that reflected in my lifestyle because it all goes to debt.
I hope things workout well for you ❤ The immigrant process really is so challenging.

I'm an American in London on a skilled worker visa and also waiting for the dreaded letter from the Home Office informing me when I need to leave. Desperately trying to find another job b/c moving back to the States is emotionally a non-option! I feel your pain, girl.

Can I ask how do you earn money from social media while on a skilled worker visa? Do you have all your accounts in the US and pay the tax there? I'm trying to switch from a skilled worker to a global talent visa so I can earn side income / not stress so much about losing my job 😅

hey! I really don’t earn money from social media as a main source of income, so it’s not something I’ve explored! good luck switching to the global talent visa though! 🤞🏼

@@resiliencyinrunning ah interesting, so can you accept brands sponsoring you with stuff just not money? I’m asking a visa lawyer about these questions in a few weeks but I’ve noticed lots of other influencers on the same visa who seem to get PR and stuff so not sure how it works. I hope you manage to get ILR here and avoid all the visa stress soon! UK definitely makes it a challenge
