Liverpools inconsistent attack, tactical failure to turn draws into wins and ownership issues is what let us down in the mid to late 2000's, not our defense. We didn't have a truly great striker from 2004-2007 (Rafa played Dirk Kuyt as a striker in the 2007 UCL final lmao) and once we signed Torres our ownership problems started having a huge impact on the club to the extent where we honestly overperformed from 2007-2009
In fact our defense from 05/06 - 08/09 was one of the most solid in Europe during that time. It only fell apart towards the start of the 2019's after Hyypia left, Carra was increasingly on the wrong side of 30 and injuries started getting the better of Agger

Kim is an outstanding player, last season he single handedly held Napoli’s defence together on their way to winning a title. Everyone has a bad games, he is definitely struggled since he got to Bayern but there is absolutely no reason for which Carragher plus the entire panel should be making fun of him like that. Shows lack of class, especially when he’s a defender himself and has been in those situations before.

In Napoli, Kim's style of defending worked because his teammates knew his style well and covered when he charged out. There is no one capable or willing to do that in Bayern. Simple.

Finally somebody said it. The only reason we were knocked out was because of Kiwior. Poor touch for the first goal and got spun by sane which later resulted in a penalty.

Kim minjae is the best defender on the team. Hes just been dropped since the asia cup and since then has never really had regular time... which has changed his confidence.
De ligt is fragile. How many games did he play this season? He easily gets injured which makes him unreliable and I also don’t think he guarantees clean sheet for every game. Kim was quite consistent until he was back from Asian cup. this is the first season for him. I feel Kim was unnecessarily criticized severely. The German media is terribly impatient and biased.
Gabriel had the most laughable display out of all these defenders, but got insanely lucky.

He is the same Kim now as in Napoli, but the difference is the system. In Napoli, he would aggressively go forward to cut off the pass, then other Napoli defenders will cover for me. Today's game Kimmich and Dier don't do that. People who watched entire 90 min know Kim was great except for those two goals. He was everywhere, covering Dier and Kimmich. Even Kane's penalty started from Kim with sharp through pass. I honestly think people are unfair, as there were no defensive support for Kim while Kim was running around covering other players.
Kim needs to stay in position there in the 1st goal and you can’t over rely on dier or kimmich cause they got other players to man mark too
