Man I am literally addicted to your videos and I do t even have a fish tank, I have watched every live stream and every normal vid. It's just how supprisingly calm and peas full and stuff that makes your videos so enjoyable. I now whant a fish tank and that is from just watching your vids. I am struggling to save up the money for the tank however cos I am in secondary school. I got a job for the last 3 months to get the moneyy and now that I have the money for the tank I am having doubts over if buying a reef tank is worth it or not due to the high price. Is this a normal thing when it comes to buying a tank or should I reconsider?
I've used NO3PO4-X ever since I converted my Juwel Trigon 190L to a mixed reef tank 3 years ago. It was kinda my only option as I have no sump with just an internal built in filter and a Bubble Magus hang -on-the-back skimmer. In the beginning it would not reduce Nitrates at all but after much research and testing I found out that I hadn't got any Phosphate in my tank which is required in order for NO3PO4-X to work, so I ended up dosing phosphate for a week to kick the chemical reaction into action. (So to speak). I've since found over the years that NO3PO4-X works great on Nitrates and does control phosphate to a degree but I've always had to supplement the phosphate removal with a bag of Rowaphos in the internal filter, otherwise things start to go downhill on the phosphate side of things and RowaPhos also helps with silicate removal as well. I've been dosing 6ml a day of NO3PO4-X for well over 2 years now which keeps Nitrates between 1 and 3 ppm. My phosphate levels are always high (0.08-0.13) according to the received wisdom that "they should be 0.03 or below" (and I do test phosphate with a milwaukee phosphate checker using the salifert powder and re-agent, that's a free cheeky tip for those looking to save money on re-agent refills by the way ;O)) but my corals grow and I get compliments on my tank so it can't be all bad. I would be intrigued to know if there is a sweet spot ratio of Nitrate to Phosphate that keeps the phosphate level low when dosing NO3PO4-X? Love your work Miss Prestige Reef ;O)
Hi 😃 I’m a complete newbie and only a couple of months into this fascinating hobby! I’ve just started using this product, but is it ok to use it without a skimmer? I have 180 litres tank with Oase Thermal 350
This project of yours has given me an unexpected insight into NO3 and PO4 management. I’m realizing that most reefkeepers REACT to excess of these, where they SHOULD be controlling the tank environment from the start. Thus NoPox becomes the management tool that does its two-fold job ONLY IF we use it from the start. I think most of us trundle along, not paying attention and then WHAM we start noticing problems. We suddenly identify high NO3 and PO4. We panic and look for a solution. Thing is, in the case of NoPox, the NO3 control happens fairly quickly but the PO4 control happens too slowly for us, and that’s when we look for a way to specifically reduce PO4 at a rate we think is needed to “save” coral. Hence supplementary use of PO4 removal methods and the general idea that NoPox is for NO3. Hmmmmm....🤔
Ryan, have you ever had dosing nopox effect the health of a fish, asking as i dosed for about 5 days and my blue star leopard wrasse was struggling, could of been coincidence of course but three weeks later its still not back to normal but the effect of the nopox obviously is long gone now, any ideas?
Being using NOPOX for months, eventually my NO2 went down and they stayed down. However phosphate is still an issue, NO3 at 2 and PO4 at 0.22 today. I feel now my NO3 is too low, I don't think NOPOX is really working for PO4, unless I am missing something.
Hi I have been using NORPOX for about three months now and I have been getting a slim in my sump does this mean I am doseing to much. I ham dressing 14ml a day on a 6ft by 2ft by 2ft my nitrates are 10 and my fos are abit HIGH at 1 but is coming down each week
Hi i want to go to interzoo 2020,. Do you recommend the 1 day ticket or multiple day ticker? I dont know how big it is and if it is woth it to visit it more than one day. Thank you very much.
I've used nopox but I seem to get this white smile growth, even at very low doseing levels. I do use a protien skimmer and I use a u.v bulb. Maybe it's my fault somehow? I hear so many great reviews from other users so I'm stumped.
I get the same and I’m running a massive Royal exclusive double cone 200 so I’m also stumped as why I get the stringy slime. It also clogged the filter socks in one day and clogged the foam bubble trap sponge . I tried twice and have gone back to growing cheato. I be interested to see how prestige reef gets on with it.
@@garycallaghan59 is there anyway to prevent this from happening? I know I tried reducing my dose and I still got white slime. I just started a biopellets reactor a little under a week ago so I guess I'll see how that goes. My po4 is decent 0.30 range. Could be better but not horrible but my no3 is in the 30ppm range. After I run a course of dino x I'll be butting some gfo online and hopefully my pellets would have begun to work
reefer madness what I did that worked for me. I have a 500 liter tank. I was dosing 5ml per day only been dosing for a week. I got heavy bacterial bloom. Water cloudy and white string sort of stuff. I did a 50 liter water change. I stopped dosing nopox for two days. I then started again but broke up the 5ml into three doses on my dosing pump in 24 hours. I also cleaned out as much of the string type stuff as I could. In wave makers , sump and on the glass. It all seems to be fine now holding thumbs

Some great coral shots!
Loving this series

You make a very good point as always :)
Did you have a video of the redsea all grown out
I'd be interested to know the phosphate result

I run cheap vodka in my office tank and No3po4x in my display tanks at home. Office tank runs closer to 0-5 and home struggles to be 40 or less.
Do you know what's in it?

Very interesting
Thanks!
meanwhile i struggle to raise no3. even heavy feeding does not help.
Hoe many gallons is the tank you are dosing
So I have nitrate at 0 but phosphate at 0.10 do I use no pox

I use nopox and have just overcome the white stringy things. It is due to a bacteria bloom.

What filtration are you going to run on this tank? Refugium?
I use this!
Anymore fish yet?
Those corals!
What about brightwell biofuel?
Has anyone tried it?!
I remember the days when nitrate reduction didn't exist other than water changes
Tried and tested
👍
NoPox is FLAMABLE. Says so on the box & bottle. Try shipping it by air freight and see how far you get....
I keep mine around 20
or us in the know call it, dilute methanol.....
My nitrates are too low lol 😂.
