Dj Krush is an Artist by all means. His music is just amazing and the qualities of sound he plays with make his final expression even more unique. It’s also wonderful to listen to what hip hop culture “could” represent from a Japanese perspective . More than a simple master in producing beats, Dj Krush’s work is a pure example of fine art. His mastering of sound in just incredible. Besides, the mix between two completely different perspectives of cultural reality is by far, perfect. 🎶🫡👾👽👏🏻🎧🎼🎹🏆
damn 1996 this came out when i was born this kinda makes me sad because its so old and you cant have the feeling im having out of new music that im getting from this.
I was born in 1996 too, but I feel this as mine. Even by the very fact of being born the same year, like a strange connection. This was playing somewhere in the world as I left my mother's womb. Funny how this song and in general any song by dj krush gives me a kind of nostalgia, having discovered it about 4 years ago. One of my favourite producers, no doubt. A truly master.
Oh dude BTW your comment plus listening to this track just reminded me of the anime "samurai champloo". A lot of similar vibes to the tracks used in that series. Very Japanese style of down tempo hip-hop/trip-hop.
+BnJmin im thinking the same. but i guess i was too young for this music :) though ive listened to many other beatmakers but now when im 18, this guy came in my life
See "DJ KRUSH - Atushi Okuno - Just Wanna Touch Her (Stoned Jazz Mix)" For the exact same sample. INcluding the "shhhhh". See "COLDCUT - Autmn Leaves" or "DJ CAM - dieu reconnaitra les siens" and fastforward to 01:56 and you´ll hear the drums again. This sample is used in many classic triphop/hiphop songs from the 90´s, when i hear it in a hiphop song in the 2000 i usually get bored but the only person who did it dope is DJ KRUSH. becasue he is king i guess..
Hells yeah, I haven't heard Bonobo in years! legendary stuff when I was an adolescent. Quantic, rjd2 is in the same alley. Dj Okawari and Nujabes if you want more japanese funky flows. It's not as brutal and raw as Dj Krush, but it's good. VERY COOL!!!!!!CHECK FOR SURE!!!! Minoru Muraoka - Bamboo (1970) Check that one out, it blew my mind. Inot sure if it's found here on youtube, though it's very rare.
Daaamn thanks dude! Right at the beginning of Bamboo is a really cool version of Dave Brubeck's "Take Five"-which is already smooth as fuck on its own. I look forward to listening to the rest. I'll check out Okawari too. Nujabes is great also but that light piano playing gets a bit redundant on a few tracks. He still has lots of classics though. I'll have to come back soon and recommend some more stuff in return for your suggestions.
Hehe that track got me giggling and feeling greatness every single time. It's good as the original . Yeah Okawari and Nujabes they a bit slow; I like them best for studying or cuddling time with my fly bitches(cats). They aren't as fierce as Krush, who used to be low level Yakuza and then chickened out after finding a 'sleeping with the fishes'' type of message of his friends finger or something like that :P I can't wait for your suggestions. I love discovering new music, makes me feel like a treasurehunter and shit.
The pattern & the beat, but is pitched down, listen to 01:55 and you´ll hear a "shhhhhh" like someone is taking a puff of the herbs. Listen to Massive Attack Blue lines and you´ll hear Tricky taking a toke on his spliff. the reason i know this is because i sampled the beat myself and the only place in the entire M/A-Blue Lines song to sample without anyother instrumentals is in the beggining but then you haev the "SHHHHHH". DJ Krush did it good. me not so good
@dan69jz Funny how DJ Shadow always eventually comes up when talking about DJ Krush, and vice versa. I discovered both on the same day, thanks to TH-cam. Good fucking day! I rarely listened to Hip Hop before.
This song got me through some tough years. Waking up on the weekends after a rough week watching the sun rise with this playing.
Whoever listens to this you are amazing people!

Love how Dj Krush lets his songs go for their appropriate length rather than sticking to the 3 min pop formula

Sometimes i wanna just hear some good beats and i cant think of what to search for. That mental block has now been unplugged.
Dj Krush, Dj Shadow, Jeru The Damaja. Enjoy, if you want more names lemme know.
Konoyaro Bakayaro Blockhead and Bonobo have some great stuff too.
